Chapter 26 - Chapter 22: I Don't Understand Either

Whenever Qiu Shui and Qiu Shan place bets, they always end up having a conflict. This pair of siblings are similar in age, and neither will yield to the other when conflict arises. In the over ten years that Ye Sui has been at Hidden Abyss Valley, he has spent most of his time dealing with these siblings.

Behind the tree.

Wen Ran quietly observed the situation development and whispered, "Senior Brother, if Mr. Ye hadn't intervened, who do you think would win their fight?"

"The female would win."

This odd choice of words made Wen Ran look up at him. Due to the angle, she could immediately see the boy's finely chiselled jawline as she raised her head.

Shen Wu, who was munching on sunflower seeds, tilted his head in confusion and asked, "What's wrong?"

He couldn't comprehend the meaning behind Wen Ran's gaze at him.

Unable to determine whether he was feigning ignorance again, Wen Ran gave up on correcting his thoughts and curiously asked, "Why would that girl win?"

The heavy sword is blunt, great skill is simple, but the light sword is flexible and changeable. The siblings are quite similar in age, and their cultivation seems to be about the same. How can Shen Wu be so sure that the girl would win?

Shen Wu ate another sunflower seed and said leisurely, "Her fundamentals are more solid."

The light sword emphasizes technique more, while the heavy sword relies on absolute power. In a match against a opponent, no skills are needed; as long as one can touch the enemy once, they are either dead or crippled.

Although the boy's movements are agile, his fundamentals are not as good as the girl's. After a while, his stamina will lag, and his speed will naturally drop. At that time, it will be difficult for him to avoid the girl's heavy sword.

Wen Ran realized this point and couldn't help but nod in sudden understanding. She reached out her hand towards Shen Wu.

Shen Wu lowered his head to count the remaining sunflower seeds in his hand. He hesitated for a while and finally picked out three seeds to place in Wen Ran's extended hand.

Wen Ran looked expressionless.

He gripped the hand that was grabbing the sunflower seeds, "Ranran, I don't have much left."

He obviously had a handful more in his hand!

Wen Ran turned her head away, ignoring him, and bit on the only three sunflower seeds silently watching the situation over there.

Ye Sui put on a serious expression, "I have told you many times, and your father has emphasized many times, you are not allowed to make bets privately, have you forgotten all that?"

Qiu Shan hastily tried to shift the blame, "Qiu Shui was the one who proposed the bet first!"

Ye Sui looked at the girl, "Qiu Shui."

Qiu Shui was unhappy, "If Qiu Shan didn't agree, then I couldn't bet alone. He's also at fault! Why are you only looking at me?"

With that, she immediately shed a few tears, "You're hurting my hand!"

Ye Sui quickly released her hand, and in the next moment, Qiu Shui was about to rush towards Qiu Shan when Ye Sui swiftly grabbed her collar, lifting her whole body up. Even his good temper was affected, "Qiu Shui, go and copy the books!"

Qiu Shan was gleeful, while Qiu Shui cried for real this time.

Wen Ran didn't see any gold dust on the ground, but she did see a family drama. She sighed, "Having too many children is indeed problematic."

"Having just one is best." Perhaps he felt that Wen Ran shared the same thought as him, Shen Wu uncharacteristically offered, "Ranran, would you like more?"

Wen Ran didn't raise her head, but her hand stretched out. Soon, something was placed in her hand. While she watched the situation over there, she put the thing in her mouth.

As soon as she bit it, her whole face crinkled from the sourness. Without any extra words, Wen Ran instantly turned around and raised a fist.

Having suffered once before, Shen Wu grasped her fist and innocently asked, "Not tasty?"

"Shen Wu..."

"Hmm?"

She extended another fist, which was once again grasped by his other hand.

He tilted his head and smiled, "You can't hit me."

Wen Ran let out a "heh."

In the next moment, he was kicked by the girl in that vulnerable spot of a man.

Shen Wu inhaled sharply, relying on willpower not to collapse. He complained, "Ranran, don't you want your happiness?"

"Happiness is not given by others, but created by one's own hands."

Shen Wu pondered for a moment, "Were you just speaking 'dirty' words?"

"What are 'dirty' words?" Wen Ran imitated his previous innocent look and blinked, "Senior Brother, I don't understand this."

Shen Wu blinked too, "Actually, I don't understand either."

Wen Ran and Shen Wu tacitly chose not to delve into the understanding of the matter any further. As guests, they were arranged to stay in the guest room.

The young disciple leading them to the guest room said apologetically, "Letting two esteemed guests stay in such a humble room is truly our disrespect."

Wen Ran glanced at the gold items in the room, then at the white jade screens, and finally at the patterns on the canopy adorned with gold thread. She suddenly felt that the boudoir she had lived in for more than ten years might only be considered a kennel in the eyes of these people.

The Hidden Abyss Valley disciple genuinely showed an embarrassed look on his face. He was not acting in a Versailles manner but genuinely felt that letting Wen Ran and Shen Wu stay here was a grievance for the guests.

In front of others, Shen Wu still maintained a composed demeanour. He said warmly, "We are quite comfortable here; thank you for your trouble, Dao Friend."

"No trouble at all!" The young disciple in bright yellow clothes looked at Shen Wu with admiration in his eyes, "My name is Qiu Ming. Brother Shen, I mean no offense, I just want to ask, is it okay if I call you that?"

Shen Wu nodded, "Of course."

His face was hidden under a straw hat, making it difficult to see clearly. He stood tall like jade, exuding a sense of extraordinary grace, with a remarkable gentlemanly aura.

Qiu Ming's eyes were almost sparkling with admiration, "I've heard a lot about the things related to Brother Shen. Back then, Brother Shen single-handedly subdued the Tiger Demon causing havoc in the human world. This matter is widely known in our Hidden Abyss Valley!"

Wen Ran snuck a glance at Shen Wu.

Shen Wu remained unfazed and said, "It's just a trivial matter, not worth mentioning."

"It absolutely is worth mentioning!" Qiu Ming was almost unable to contain his admiration, "Brother Shen, can I come to ask you for swordsmanship guidance someday?"

"Sure."

Qiu Ming left with a blissful expression, fully satisfied. Little did he know that once he left, Shen Wu immediately slumped into the chair, curling himself up against the backrest, dully yawning.

This utterly lazy person displayed no trace of the sage-like image just moments ago in front of his fans.

Shen Wu casually took out a handful of small fruits and began eating them slowly. Seeing Wen Ran staring at him, he generously extended his hand, "Ranran, would you like some?"

Wen Ran shifted her feet.

Shen Wu immediately retracted his hand, clasping his long legs together, appearing very apprehensive.
