Chapter 19 - Alex no demon episode 19

As both Sorata and Mirio clashed, the battle intensified. Purple destructive energy blasted around the city with huge chains crushing buildings and the rest of the city around them. Mirio hovered mid-air, his chains materializing into massive objects which he hurled down at Sorata in rapid succession. Sorata retaliated, blasting the incoming projectiles with a huge wave of destructive energy.

Meanwhile, from the sidelines, Shinki glanced at Ukina, asking calmly,

"What's your real purpose in all of this? This fight has been going on for hours now."

Ukina grinned mischievously.

"I won't tell," she replied, her tone playful yet cryptic.

Back in the sky, Mirio continued flying at hypersonic speeds while throwing sharp chains that resembled deadly constructs like swords and shurikens. He launched them at Sorata at full speed, relentless in his assault. Sorata remained on the defensive, using wave after wave of destructive energy to deflect the attacks. His hands started to release smoke.

"This is getting me nowhere," Sorata muttered through clenched teeth. "He's too defensive. I can't land a hit on him. And plus, my body burns up from the inside when i use my ability for too long."

From above, Mirio smirked.

"As powerful as your destructive energy is, you won't land a single blow on me!"

With a flick of his fingers, Mirio formed dozens of bullet-like projectiles and sent them flying toward Sorata. As they tore through the air, Sorata scoffed.

"I'm not getting anything good out of this fight," he growled with annoyance as he sent a huge wave of destructive energy all over the place like a tornadoes.

Then, without hesitation, he sprinted straight at Mirio at the speed of lightning, dodging the barrage of bullets with sharp reflexes. Mirio narrowed his eyes and summoned giant shuriken, forged from his chains.

"Tricks won't work on me," Mirio declared, launching the massive weapons.

The shuriken hurtled through the air with brutal force, capable of slicing through buildings and reducing entire city blocks to rubble. Sorata narrowly dodged a few, leaping into the air to evade them, then launched a massive wave of destructive energy at Mirio, resulting in a blinding explosion.

Landing back on the ground, Sorata looked up. As the smoke cleared, he saw Mirio still in the sky—unharmed—with wings formed from glowing, spiraling chains. Sorata gritted his teeth in frustration. "AYE! Imma need you to die now!"

Mirio looked down and mocked,

"You think you're strong, but all I see is a weak bastard filled with hatred.". Sorata replied with annoyance "Bold words for someone who's about to turn into ashes"

Suddenly, Mirio's chains surged forward, forming massive pillars that launched at Sorata with incredible speed, triggering a huge explosion upon impact. Sorata barely escaped the blast, dashing away at full speed as Mirio pursued from above. His chains took the shape of enormous daggers, tearing through the city as they rained down.

Dodging frantically, Sorata thought to himself,

"How am I supposed to beat this lunatic of a kid? Hids way to defensive. I don't want to use too much energy, but he's giving me no choice."

He came to a halt and quickly activated a new technique: Rapid Chaos—a barrage of destructive energy bullets. He fired them to counter the incoming attacks.

Mirio narrowed his eyes, unimpressed.

"Is that it?" he scoffed.

Suddenly, Mirio's chains twisted and combined into the form of a giant snake.

"I wanted to fight you to gauge your power," Mirio said coldly. "But you're not even close to what I expected."

The chain-serpent lunged at Sorata, wrapping around him and slamming him into the ground with such force that buildings collapsed around them. Standing above, Mirio looked down and declared,

"It's over."

But just as he turned away, Sorata's voice rang out from the smoke.

"You're a fool for underestimating me."

Emerging with a wicked grin, Sorata continued,

"While we were fighting, I was testing how strong my techniques really are. And you know what i think? Youre just s kid who likes to think he's hot shit!"

Mirio burst into laughter,

"You worthless scum. Don't try to act all tough now. You were berely keeping up with me."

He formed a giant hammer from his chains and hurled it at Sorata. But Sorata smiled calmly and obliterated it midair with a single destructive blast.

Mirio's eyes widened.

"What the...?!"

Before he could recover, he sent another rapid-fire barrage of sharp chain constructs. But Sorata stood unfazed.

"Fool, youre the kind who doesn't know when your opponent is just playing along" he muttered, raising his hand.

In a flash, his destructive energy surged, disintegrating all of Mirio's projectiles at once.

Ukina giggled to herself, catching Shinki's attention again.

"What's your plan, Ukina?" he asked.

She smiled.

"Sorata has always wanted to grow stronger—even though he's already powerful. This fight was meant to push him to use his destructive abilities to the fullest… even if he's still holding back."

High above, Mirio prepared one final, massive attack. But in the blink of an eye, Sorata released an overwhelming surge of energy at mirio "Stay down and burn!" Sorata exclaimed with amusement. The explosion in the sky was colossal. Mirio screamed in pain as he plummeted to the ground, crashing with force.

Trying to stand, bruised and breathless, he saw Sorata appear before him—grinning.

"Still think I'm weak? Huh kid?" Sorata asked.

Terrified and annoyed, Mirio backed away slightly.

"Get away from me!…" he exclaimed as he got up and prepared to attack.

Sorata's hands pulsed with lethal energy as he stepped forward.

"Time you died.", he said with a smirk on his face

As he launched himself forward for the finishing blow, a hand suddenly caught his wrist.

"Stop, that's enough" Ukina said softly.

Sorata stared at her for a moment, then lowered his hand and turned away, walking off without another word.

Ukina turned to Mirio.

"Are you satisfied with what you got?" she asked

Shinki watched Sorata disappear into the distance. A smirk appeared on his face before he vanished as well.

Meanwhile, in the city…

Alex, along with Kazuki and Serena, stood in Kojin's office for an important briefing.

Kojin looked at them seriously.

"I'm assigning you three to patrol the city."

Alex, who had been excited a moment ago, suddenly looked disappointed.

"How is patrolling even a mission…?"

Kojin sighed.

"You've been through too many dangerous missions lately, even tho its just 2. This patrol will help you recover and gain more experience without risking too much. I plan on giving other teams missions for now"

Kazuki frowned and muttered,

"I'd rather just sleep at home."

Alex nodded in agreement, his enthusiasm drained "Yeah. Patrolling is boring."

Kojin sighed again, rubbing his head.

"TCH. Kids nowadays huh.…"
