Chapter 364 - Chapter 364: Bargaining

SHIKK!!

Reality quickly rooted into his mind as his face was carved, an attack in his head, blood spewing away as he was free falling into the ocean, looking up to see the chaos and cataclysm the Umibozu had to endure. As he stared blankly to such destruction, watching the face of the Sea Monk remain unchanged, Sansol recollected his thoughts, remembering who he was. "...What happened to me? What happened to this place? What happened to this world...? Did I do this? Was this....by my hand?" His mind became plagued once more, doubt and concern wafting through, witnessing the white streak he left on the sky. He realized quickly he was able to see again, thanks to the Monster in his Memories, Aiwass. He'd look to his side to see Khepros, seeing civilians tending to either the poisons, lightning, and flames left behind. He'd see people sadly passing on due to the radiation, as well as extreme strain on their bodies from his attacks previously.

His eyes widened as he realized the sins he's committed.

"It was....It was all done by me. What did he do to me...What did he DO to me!? What have I done!? Was I asleep that entire time?? No, No it couldn't have been. I was having my consciousness as I was coming back from the water. My mind was awake all that time. This was all me. This.....This is all...." He couldn't bring himself the words to say such things, in fear of his thoughts turning against him and twisting it. He could feel the guilt and mental demons quickly forming, gripping his head and neck, his breath being choked out by non-existent threats. His mind flashed more memories, ones regarding the people he departed on good terms with, perceiving their faces from joy and pride, to disgust and vitriol. His own mind fell more and more into this personal spiral as his breath hitched up, his lungs filling up and depleting of oxygen as he panicked.

"It's all my fault..."

"I shouldn't be here anymore..."

"I need to run away, far as I can..."

"I need to hide from everything and everyone.."

"They can't know how much blood stains me..."

"I want back my parents..."

"Someone please save me..."

"No amount of running can hide what's been done..."

"My life is tainted now..."

"I ruined everything..."

"I should not live with this shame anymore..."

"This hurts...so much..."

"I just wish to go home now...."

As he panicked, his hands twitching, his eyes closing, trying to take such a sweet embrace, he'd hear a voice. A familiar one. "Oh dear...This is not what I had in mind for such a penultimate performance before my grand twist. Why are you scared now? What has gotten into you?" It would speak, causing Sansol to turn his head at its source. All he could see is a mere piece of parchment, his contract, before him.

"YOU! YOU HAVE TO HELP ME! I'VE DONE SO MANY HORRIBLE THINGS...ALL FOR THE NAME OF A FOOLISH FANTASY THAT WAS ACHIEVING HEAVEN! I'm so sorry...I'm so, so sorry! Take it back! Take it all back! Please! I DON'T WANT-"

"I'm afraid I can't, my friend. I only provide the gifts. It is only up to you on what do you use them for. What I will say, however, is that you've put such a good show for everyone, right now!"

"I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT! I JUST WANT OUT! PLEASE! GET ME AWAY FROM THIS! TAKE EVERYTHING BACK! TURN EVERYTHING BACK TO NORMAL! I DON'T-" Shushes came from the paper as it tried to calm the Musician, the contract quickly glowing and allowing the water to course across his body, cold enough to ease his aching mind and strained muscles.

"Ease yourself. Ease yourself, my friend. The more you scream and stress, the more your body is going to give and end everything on a sour note. Don't push yourself this far. You do not need to worry about such a scare that wafts in your heart. You must understand, however, that this is now all on you. Your sins to bare. Your fears to face. Your judgement to execute." Despite its cordial tone, the contract was evidently being blunt with his words. Even with the cold wash, Sansol can't help but stare in disbelief and have his hands shake in fear of knowing what he's done. "Now...Our contract between us is a simple one: I help you achieve your desired 'Heaven', your path, and you simply enact what you want to do with this gift. It is nobody's fault but your own that it became such a destructive hazard. I do, however, have a plausible solution for this, if you truly wish to be vacant of such sins. A gift, in fact! A way to, shall we say, 'free you' if this is truly too much to handle all by yourself. It would only take a small change in the writing, but all I need afterwards is your permission." The contract glowed once more, providing Sansol another vision, one depicting him in a beachside, relieved from any pain or stress, the people he once killed, now walking and singing with him alive and well. The Musician can't help but nod to give his consent. "Wonderful~...." was all the contract needed, before smoke began to escape from it, and out from the smoke, a hand.

"Mask. Off."

SHIKK!!!

In an instant, Sansol's face was quickly removed, blood escaping profusely from the gaping hole, said face hardening as it sunk back into the parchment. A new face would be implanted into the Musician, distorting itself, twisting the white cloth with red stains into a spiral pattern. "Oh, how I adore this moment, my friend. On the cusp of such a high, believing no consequence befalls onto you, your hubris non-existent, before being met with a painful low, a twist in the words to fool the unsuspecting, to claim what they never anticipated. I should take notes in this one. This feels too good to pass up." The contract cheered, before letting the body twitch and fall back into the Sea Monk, the color now diluted, a shape embedded in its face.

"Mask. On."

A Guttural roar as the Umibozu's face curved on itself, its eyes slanting into a slit at the spiral, its once colorful look now molded into a pitch black. Eyes can be visible along the black, each and every single soul that died at sea now staring back and emoting. Some crying, others raging, some joyous, others sorrowful. All of them, however, had one thing in common: A second chance at their life. Sansol's mind and body were transferred within the Sea Monk, the two massive slits now having the pupils adopt the rainbow color. Such a body is nothing more than stark white. The Contract would be quick on disappearing, disintegrating itself into the wind. "Enjoy your freedom from your mind, Mr. Mambala. The souls shall help carry your weight. As for the others...I do hope they enjoy my gift." It spoke, before leaving the battle in black dust.
