I prepared some cut carrots and some freshly baked pumpkin bread for my little girl.
"Alright, my sweet girl," I murmured to myself as I finished setting the plate, "let's see if this will brighten your day."
I made my way down the familiar hallway, the sound of my footsteps quiet against the wooden floor. Anis had been bedridden for a while now, and my heart ached for her. I wanted nothing more than to see her happy and healthy, to watch her run and play like she used to.
As I reached her room, I saw the door was open slightly. I peeked inside and saw Saffron reading to our daughter.
Snuggling her penguin, Anis smiled as she looked up at her daddy. Her face was flushed. I couldn't tell if it was because she was still feverish, or if it was from excitement.
I couldn't help but smile at the sight. Saffron had a slight, but warm smile as he looked down at our daughter.
"Penguin saves day?" she muttered.
