Chapter 587 - Chapter 587: Gorilla vs Kaya

Kaya looked at Gorilla. Gorilla looked back at Kaya.

"Surrender now, pirate," Gorilla said as he raised his sword high. He stared at Kaya. "In the name of justice, I order you to stand down," he added.

Kaya looked at him. "You were shot by your own ally," she stated. She had heard this directly from Maya.

For a moment, Gorilla hesitated, his grip tightening around his sword. He thought back to the moment where he was wounded, lying on the ground, defeated by another one from the Love Pirates. Then he was shot by Onigumo. "I did. And it was my own fault… for losing to a pirate," he said.

"Friends don't shoot each other," Kaya responded.

"In the world of pirates, betrayal is common," Gorilla said. His face hardened. "You hurt people," he said. His finger gestured toward the battlefield, toward the crater,, the bodies, the destruction.

"Look around, at the death, the carnage," he said. He stared at Kaya. "All caused by you," he said.

"We were only trying to help Shimagame, but you all came and started firing first," Kaya responded.

Gorilla gritted his teeth. "Because you were trying to take over this island for your own purpose," he shouted back.

Kaya's eyes burned. "We don't," she responded.

Gorilla's scowl deepened. "Lies," he said.

He shifted his stance. "You will not surrender peacefully," he said and added, "So I will have to use force."

Behind him, a Marine officer eyed Kaya, gripping his weapon tightly. "Should we charge in?" he asked.

Gorilla raised his hand, stopping them immediately. "No," he replied. He looked at Kaya. "I will fight her alone. She is dangerous," he added.

Gorilla launched forward as he rushed toward Kaya. He thought it was reckless fighting alone. If he had Very Good and Sharinguru, this would be different. However they had their own battles. This fight was his alone.

Gorilla's grip tightened around his sword, his knuckles turning white. "Gorilla Grip Slash," he said as he closed the distance, his blade coming down in a brutal overhand slash, aiming to cleave Kaya in two.

Kaya stood firm. She channeled power into her fist, the glow expanding. "Angel Smash," she said as she swung her fist. Her knuckle met against the blade.

A shockwave tore through the ground. The sheer force hurled debris outward, rocks scattering violently as the air trembled from their collision. Gorilla jumped back and landed on his feet.

Kaya flew forward. Her wings propelled her. "Angel Rapid Smash," Kaya said as her fists glowed. She closed the distance. With blinding speed, she unleashed a flurry of blows, each striking. Her fists crashed into Gorilla's face, sending blood splattering, his body jerking violently from the impact.

Another fist buried deep into his chest, knocking the breath from his lungs, forcing him backward, his feet dragging through the dirt as he struggled to maintain balance. Then with one final punch she slammed his stomach. He was hurled through the air, twisting mid-flight before slamming onto the ground.

Despite the pain wracking his body, Gorilla pushed himself upright. With a grunt, he rushed toward Kaya. "Tree Trunk Smash," Gorilla said as he swung his blade sideways, treating it like a massive club.

The force ripped through the air, closing in on Kaya. However Kaya took to the sky and dodged the attack.

She looked down. "Angel Barrage," Kaya said as she formed small energy projectiles resembling angelic feathers, around her wings. She then fired a volley at Gorilla. His face, body and leg all got hit. Each feather mark left a mark on his body and cut his skin. There was blood coming out.

Gorilla was panting. He could feel pain in his body. "I will not lose," Gorilla said. "There are innocent people's lives at stake if I fail," Gorilla shouted. "Beast Roar Thrust," Gorilla said as he let out a deafening roar. He jumped in the air and lunged forward with a powerful thrust of his sword.

"Angel Kick," Kaya said as she channelled her energy into her kick. It glowed white. She dodged his sword and then kicked him in the stomach.

Gorilla got hit in the stomach. He spat blood and went crashing down into the ground. He landed with a big thud. He felt his entire body in pain. He spat blood and got up. He was panting. He thought there was such a big gap in power. He thought her bounty was low.

"You seem like a good person, let me go," Kaya said. "Help your men," she added.

"I can't let you go," Gorilla said. "As a defender of justice, I can't let a pirate go," he added.

Kaya thought she had to go. She looked at Shimagame. Kaya's wings spread wide, her body radiating an aura of celestial energy. She raised her hands, white energy forming into a radiant arrow-shaped projection. "Angel Heaven's Arrow," she said as she hurled it forward. The arrow teared through the air at blinding speed aimed straight at Gorilla's chest.

Gorilla's eyes widened. The attack was coming too fast. He had no time to move. The arrow struck, its impact explosive, the force slamming into his torso, the sheer pressure rupturing the fibers of his uniform, sending a shockwave through his entire body.

Gorilla spat blood from his mouth. His body jerked violently before his feet gave out completely.

Gorilla collapsed, his back hitting the ground hard, dust kicking up around him, his limbs motionless, his consciousness drifting away.

"Captain," a Marine shouted, rushing towards Gorilla's fallen body.

At that moment, Raki and Robin came towards Kaya. "Kaya," Robin shouted.

Kaya turned and looked at Raki and Robin. "Robin, Raki," Kaya said as she flew down. "Are you both okay?" she asked.

"We are," Raki responded.

"We saw that bright arrow," Robin added.

"Is that bright?" Kaya asked.

"Very," Raki responded. "We should go help the others," she added.

"Yes we should," Kaya responded. She looked in the distance.

"Do you see something there?" Robin asked.

"Yes, an island," Kaya replied.
