Chapter 29 - The Vacation Part 2

REGULUS POV

Stepping out of the carriage, a "wow" escaped my mouth. The manor we were staying in was something out of a storybook. A large oak tree was the foundation of the inn, with the branches holding the rooms, and some rooms were even held by large vines.

"Beautiful isn't it? Me and my family always come here everytime we decide to take a trip to the ruins." Olivia said as she stared and admired the view.

"Ah, Princess! To what do we owe the pleasure today?" A worker said, but to my surprise he wasn't what I expected.

He was an Elf?

"Wait, there are Elves here?." I asked as I was confused as to why there were Elves here.

"Um… we don't accept raci-" But before the Elf could finish, Olivia had intervened.

"S-Sorry! It's just that this might be the first time time seeing Elves outside your respective kingdoms!" Olivia explained to the Elf as he nodded in reply.

"That's understandable mister…?"

"Regulus, Regulus Vendetta." I answered.

"Mhm, alright!." He said as he wrote my name down on a piece of paper.

"So, what would it be, princess? A suite room? We have a promo for couples as it is the season for spring festivals! Normally a suite room would cost two gold per night, but for our promo it will only be one gold!" The Elf happily suggested.

Wait…. Two gold for one room!!?

THIRD PERSON POV

As Regulus was busy contemplating the cost of the room, Olivia had turned into a blushing mess as she was explaining to the Elf that she and Regulus were not a couple.

"Really? You kept on looking at him, so I assumed maybe you were a couple." The Elf asked.

"N-N-No, we're n-nothing like that! L-Like a-at all!" Olivia answered, stuttering at almost every word.

"Awww, I thought you finally found the one for you princess~." Another Elf joined in teasing the young princess.

"Though, your friend there looks like he's in a trance." The male Elf said pointing at Regulus who was muttering rubbish while counting with his hands.

"If you had two gold you could buy a total of five swords, ten spears, a wagon, multiple elixirs, a C-rank mana beast an-"

"Regulus to Verlassen!? Are you there?" Olivia yelled, putting Regulus out of his trance.

"Y-Yes! I'm here!" He asked as if nothing had happened beforehand.

After putting Regulus out of his trance, Olivia paid the cost of the suite room with the promo, though this one had two seperate bedrooms which connected into an open living room, a single bathroom, and a staircase which led to the dining hall. With the dining hall leading directly to the beach.

As they were being led to their rooms, Olivia noticed that there were more guards and even armored soldiers around the inn, with the Elf leading them noticing this.

"You must be wondering why there are armored people scattered around the princess?" The Elf implored.

"Y-Yes, there weren't any armored soldiers the last time I was here." Olivia answered.

"To answer your question, there have been many monsters and sea monsters sighted around the area the past weeks."

"Most recently Orcs and the undead have attacked the inn just last night, and to add last week a serpent like sea monster nearly destroyed a ship, though luckily for us, 'The Lion' was around the area and he managed to eliminate it quickly." The Elf continued.

"I must warn you though, if you decide to visit the ruins, you would have to hire a mage for protection, though you could take the risk if you are confident that the sea monsters wouldn't attack you." The Elf declared, as finally they reached the room.

"Now, have a great stay, princess! You too, Sir Regulus!" The Elf said bowing down and leaving.

With the Elf leaving, the two entered the room and went to their respective bedrooms. Regulus stepped half naked, well not really, since the boat that will transport them to the ruins will arrive two hours from now, Regulus decided to take a swim of sorts.

He was wearing a modest brown short, along with that he had brought a towel with him.

He then knocked on the door to Olivia's room, letting her know he was going to the beach.

"Olivia! I'll be going to the beach to take a swim, if you come looking for me, you'll find there."

"O-Ok! I was going to the beach as well! But it might take a while, so j-just go ahead without me!" Olivia answered.

"Hm…. What should I wear?" Olivia muttered to herself, contemplating on what she should wear to the beach.

On the right was a swimwear that was made by a famous tailor on women's clothing, unlike the normal swimwear, this was cut into two separate pieces of clothing.

"This one… looks extremely revealing… If I wear this, what would Regulus think of me? He might think of me as an exhibitionist!? N-No, he might actually find me… attractive."

'You look very alluring Olivia~' She fantasized in her mind.

"No, No, NO! You're a princess Olivia! What would he think of you if you wore this!"

After nearly twenty minutes of deciding she finally decided on something less seductive but still quite revealing. Mustering her strength she finally went out.

Stepping into the sandy shores of the beach, it took some time for her to find Regulus as he was quite far out in the sea.

Regulus spotted her first, and when Olivia finally saw him he was already swimming back to the shore. As he emerged from the waters, Olivia finally saw the whole "package".

A toned body, most notably his abs and legs and his untied hair dangling over his shoulders. Along with that there were a few scars scattered around, the most noticeable were in his abdomen and right shoulder.

"Hmm…" Olivia muttered to herself as she tucked her hair behind her hair with Regulus approaching.

"You sure took your time." Regulus teasingly said as he grabbed his towel and hung it on his shoulders.

"Y-Yeah, some of my things were left behind the carriage…. fortunately the driver had yet to leave…" Olivia stammered as she made up a whole different story, since it would be too embarrassing to say that she took twenty minutes deciding on what to wear.

"I see…." Regulus muttered as his eyes slowly trailed down Olivia's body, up until the lower half when he finally snapped out of it, becoming a blushing mess in the process.

"W-Well, I have to say, your outfit is… kind of cute." Regulus embarrassingly uttered.

"U-Um well, your body is also ve-" Olivia froze, immediately her whole face turned red as she didn't mean to say those words. Luckily for her Regulus wasn't listening.

Then they both headed to the beach, not saying a word, until Olivia broke the silence.

"S-So, I've noticed you had quite the number of scars in your body, would you mind me asking where you got them?" Olivia asked as she tried to start a conversation.

"Well…. As you may know, Eldorin was only founded just over a year ago. And before I became king… I wasn't necessarily Royalty." Regulus responded with him starting to scratch his head in embarrassment.

"I was living a normal life, with me, my sister and our guardian living in Roste. Before that I was an adventurer, and a licensed mage." He continued as he summoned a small ball of mana on the palm of his hand.

"OH! That's really cool!" Olivia praised.

Regulus then continued telling his story, from his encounters with numerous monsters, to being promoted into an AA-rank adventurer. To nearly dying after being submerged in quicksand to becoming king.

Though he left out the part where he was from the Syndis royal family and about Sir Lucius' family and Alicia.

Soon their chat went on for nearly an hour from stories of Olivia's childhood, to more of Regulus' adventures. After a while, they decided to head back to their rooms, as the boat to take them to the ruins had finally arrived.
