After saying goodbye to Tony, Alan returned straight home. It was as if the two girls had some kind of built-in sensor in their bodies—just as he got close to the house,
he saw Gwen and Wanda standing by the window, waving at him excitedly from afar.
"Emperor!" Gwen waved both arms with joy. Alan was back so quickly—did that mean the mission to retrieve the Wasp Suit had gone smoothly?
Wanda was just as thrilled as Gwen. She had been feeling down earlier, upset that Alan didn't take them with him.
One more person by his side meant one more layer of support. Wanda couldn't shake the feeling of anxiety and self-doubt,
worried that she wasn't able to help Alan in any meaningful way.
When Alan said he wouldn't bring them to Darren's expo, she'd sulked alone in the room for a while.
"That's weird… Alan's waving to us, but he's not coming back. Could it be that the mission isn't finished and he's just passing by?"
Wanda, who was also waving beside Gwen, quickly sensed that something was off. Alan was still hovering mid-air across the street,
only waving without showing any intention of returning—completely motionless.
"I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't said anything…" Gwen frowned slightly, also puzzled why Alan hadn't come back yet.
"Should we go check on him?" Wanda asked Gwen. After all, Gwen had known Alan the longest and probably understood him best.
In reality, both Gwen and Wanda had misunderstood something—they thought the Red Queen, currently resting in the room, had been brought home by Alan during the mission.
But the truth was, Red Queen knew Alan better than either of them.
"No, no need. Emperor doesn't like to be disturbed," Gwen said firmly, her gaze fixed on Alan in the distance.
She believed that if Alan wanted to return, he would come back on his own.
Even if she didn't understand why he was just floating there without moving forward at all.
At this moment, Alan was truly experiencing the warmth of _a light at home that always stays on for him_.
He was gradually learning to accept the presence of Gwen, Wanda, and the Red Queen in his life.
Sure, they occasionally bickered, but it was harmless.
He was simply hovering there, wanting to soak in this peaceful moment, to imprint it in his memory forever.
Little did he know, this brief pause of his had already confused the two girls inside the house.
When Alan finally came back in, he noticed that Gwen and Wanda both looked visibly relieved, which left him a little baffled.
"I'm starving…" Gwen's symbiote suddenly sprang out from behind her. Wanda, who still wasn't used to it, was startled.
"Ah!" Wanda shrieked and quickly backed closer to Alan. It was her first time seeing such a strange creature.
"You're still not used to it?" Gwen gave an awkward smile. If it weren't for Alan reassuring her,
she would've been seriously considering how to get rid of this alien symbiote.
But after everything they'd been through in space—fighting side by side with the symbiote—Gwen had finally come to accept it from the heart.
"Didn't we stock the fridge full of chocolate?" Alan asked, peeling off his shirt with one hand. He'd worked up a sweat today and was planning to take a shower first.
"Go eat the chocolate. You're not allowed to eat humans," he reminded the symbiote sternly.
"Not even bad people?" the symbiote asked back.
