Chapter 58 - Chapter 23 – Visiting Rights

Dorin and Johan were shaking hands with Prince Xander in agreement when a groan came from the sofa.

All eyes went to Sebastian.

Dorin hurried to his side, touched his mouth and said a fast spell. A small pentagram sank into his lips. Azra flew immediately to her master's side.

"Ah, Sebastian's awake." Xander smiled at the other mage.

Upon seeing them, Sebastian tried to stand up, pointed at them and opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He looked puzzled and touched his lips.

"You're drunk, Sebastian, go back to sleep," Johan called from behind Dorin. Sebastian glared at him.

"You feeling better?" Dorin asked his friend. Sebastian nodded. He appeared to be sober. "Do you remember what happened?"

Sebastian looked at him, scrunched his face, and shook his head.

'He's still showing emotions,' Dorin thought to himself. 'He must still be a bit drunk.'

Sebastian looked back at the 2 visitors and took a notepad from the table. [Why are they here?] he wrote.

"They felt the commotion from downstairs and came here to investigate."

[What commotion?]

"What a bad drunk," Johan said beneath his breath.

"Johan's dragon hatched," Dorin replied, ignoring Johan's comment.

Sebastian looked at Johan's direction and saw the dragon for the first time. He clasped his hands together and went near Johan to take a better look, an amused expression on his face, but when he got near, the dragon arched his back and hissed, showing his gummy mouth.

"He doesn't seem to like you," Xander observed. Sebastian stared at him annoyingly.

Dorin and Johan explained the visiting deal with the third prince to Sebastian. They even helped Dorin and Johan remove the only remaining door from one of the unoccupied rooms and place it on Sebastian's room.

"You think Ms. Ermingard would mind?" Johan asked Mordecai as Boulvar and Venet held the door while Dorin fixed it in place with magic.

"I'm more interested in knowing how your friend got that door down," replied Mordecai. "Those doors are covered in spells, even the unoccupied ones can't just be opened without a class card key!"

"He seems to be reading the spells and dismantling them by finding the weakest thaum and cutting it there!" Xander said excitedly. "I have never seen anyone do that before, not even the best royal artificers back in the capital were ingenious enough to accomplish such a feat!"

"They must have done the same with the fire alarm..." Mordecai said thoughtfully.

"Well, it kept going off while we were cooking..." Johan argued.

"And what exactly were you cooking?" Mordecai asked him.

"Oh, you can cook?" Xander asked.

"They work in the kitchens, remember?" Mordecai whispered beside him.

"Next time we visit, I'll bring some food so we can all cook together!" the prince offered.

"But sire, you can't cook..." his aide started, but Xander shushed him.

"Just tell me what you need and I'll buy it for you," he told Johan.

"Right now, what we need are new doors," replied Johan.

"And a new bed," added Dorin.

It was way past midnight when the third prince's group tip toed down the stairs that led from the Special Class' attic rooms. They looked around the corridor and quietly entered Alexander's single suit.

"I still don't understand why the rest of the dorm is oblivious to the things that happened in the top floor!" Venet whined. "It felt like the ceiling was about to come down on us earlier!"

"That is because his highness' room and ours are directly underneath their room." Boulvar answered him. "It also seems that the cameras in the attic hallway have been tampered with."

"But why would those youngsters go to such measures?" Mordecai mumbled, "Unless they are hiding something."

"Or perhaps it is not their doing..." said Xander. He looked sharply at Mordecai. "So, what do you think?" he asked his aid.

"From what I have observed," answered Mordecai, "Johan the fire mage does not seem to be much, but then again, I heard that one of the professors have locked his powers with a holding spell..."

"He hatched a dragon's egg," Xander pondered. "Even my eldest brother was not able to hatch the eggs we had back home... and that being a Czar dragon's egg..."

"Perhaps the situation played a part in it," Mordecai said helpfully, "it seems he was in danger at the time, maybe the dragon responded to his distress..."

"Which brings us to Sebastian... the silent one," said Xander.

"Did you notice the spell Dorin placed on him when he woke up?" Mordecai asked the prince.

"Yes. A silencing spell," Xander replied.

"Why silence a person who does not speak?"

"And did you see the extent of damage he did to the room?" Xander stood up and paced across the den. "My guess is he's a telepath with very powerful mental magic, or perhaps an enchanter, since he's from a branch family related to the Ravantes."

"To think that he could move the bricks in the wall to try and hinder Dorin..." Mordecai said in a low voice.

"Dorin... the young Thunder god."

"He's too guarded. There are still so many questions surrounding him."

"He could control water and turn it into ice..." there was a glint in Xander's eyes. "A wind mage that can control water as well as fire... a great artificer too... I wonder what else he can do..."

"Well, we have a year to find out."

"Let's go back tomorrow!" Xander suddenly stopped from pacing. "How come I don't have a kitchen? And why do they get to stay together? Why can't we get a room like theirs?"

"Your highness..." Venet suddenly spoke from the corner of the room. "Staying in the same room as your highness is..." he blushed.

"But wouldn't it be more... 'fun'?" the prince replied, wide-eyed. "Then I wouldn't need to call you on the phone when ever I need something, I could just use a bell like a did back home!"

Mordecai sighed. "I'll think about it." he said, "For now, you need to take your rest. Remember your health..."

"I feel better than I had in years!" Alexander started to jump around, to the consternation of his guards and aid. "I bet all I needed was to get away from that stuffy palace and all those stiff guards my father kept sending me..."

"Never the less, it is way past your time of rest," Mordecai pressed him.

Alexander finally complied.

The rest went back to their rooms, leaving the young prince with dreams of dragons and white birds in his head.
