Chapter 599 - Chapter 598: Flygon

A Golbat, an Arbok, and a Dustox, all at advanced levels.

The standard Pokémon of Team Rocket.

As Cain watched these Pokémon attack him, a growing smile spread across his face.

Poison-type Pokémon...

They were undoubtedly his favorite opponents.

In many situations, Poison-type Pokémon were often paired with Bug or Grass types, or were simply pure Poison types.

Such Pokémon were always vulnerable to Slowking's Psychic moves and Honchkrow's Flying-type moves.

Moreover, after spending so much time battling Drapion, who trained against Scolipede, it had developed a significant resistance to Poison-type Pokémon.

With the Fire Fang move Drapion had learned, it boasted impressive offensive power against Bug or Grass types with Poison attributes.

Half an hour later, Kellogg's four Pokémon lay on the ground, while the ever-calm expression on Kellogg's face turned into one of astonishment.

"This isn't how it was supposed to go..." Kellogg thought, confused.

He was an expert in ambushes and traps. He had used this strategy against several opponents, and on Mythical Island, he had already managed to defeat someone slowly using these tactics.

The poison from his Pokémon was particularly effective in the wild. Without the right antidote, victims would succumb to poisoning.

Many opponents stronger than him would fall exhausted after prolonged combat, but this time, against Cain, none of it seemed to work.

Cain was a peculiar adversary—one who relished battling Poison-type Pokémon. Furthermore, with Slowking detecting attacks through psychic powers, it could quickly alert Cain of any threats.

Additionally, Cain had psychic abilities of his own, allowing him to give orders to his Pokémon instantly through telepathy.

Victory for Cain was inevitable.

Without giving Kellogg time to react, he fell under Weavile's claws.

Cain glanced at him sideways.

"That's what you get for trying to show off..." he thought, recalling Kellogg's arrogance during the fight.

The battle ended without complications. Cain instructed Floette to provide basic medical attention to his Pokémon.

But then, Cain frowned again. "Slowking, use Psychic!"

Boom!

"Well, Cain, is this how you treat old friends?" asked a figure emerging from the trees, brushing dust off his black jacket.

From the flashy style, Cain didn't need much to identify Regi.

"It's not very friendly to be hiding behind trees, don't you think?" Cain replied with an ironic tone.

"I just wanted to enjoy your show. Watching you take down this Team Rocket officer in a few moves was entertaining. I didn't expect your strength to improve so quickly; it seems I'm no longer a match for you," Regi joked as he approached Cain without concern for the Pokémon around.

"Liar," Cain thought to himself.

Among the participants in this mission, the two individuals who concerned Cain the most were Ren, the Dragon-type specialist, and Regi, the man in front of him.

Although Regi always had a carefree attitude, Cain deeply mistrusted him. He was an enigma—someone Cain hadn't directly encountered even in his past life.

Everything Regi showed seemed perfectly in order, and that perfection unsettled Cain.

They had barely exchanged a few words when a strong gust of wind swept through the forest.

Before Cain could react, Regi's face darkened. The playful expression vanished as he looked toward the sky.

A Flygon was descending toward them.

No one else on this island had a Flygon except Ren, the Dragon-type specialist.

The relationship between Regi and Ren was clearly strained, and they had likely clashed before.

As Cain examined Flygon's details, his expression grew serious.

Without using any hidden cards, this Flygon was undoubtedly one of the strongest Pokémon among the trainers on the island.

It wasn't surprising that Regi ranked Ren high on his list of threats.

Moreover, as a Dragon-type specialist, Ren likely had more dragons under his command.

Dragon-type Pokémon, besides being powerful, required significant resources to train—something not accessible to just anyone.

Ren must have substantial backing within Team Rocket to achieve this.

Cain glanced at Regi, wondering what hidden cards he might possess.

This mission, originally intended for advanced-level trainers, had now turned into a conflict between trainers with pseudo-elite-level Pokémon.

Mythical Island undoubtedly had a massive draw.

Flygon landed slowly. In front of Cain and Regi stood Ren, dressed in sand-colored explorer gear, a blue scarf around his neck, and protective goggles on his head.

"Ren," Regi acknowledged the newcomer.

Ren glanced at Kellogg, who lay unconscious on the ground, then at Cain, and finally focused on Regi.

With a mocking smile, Ren remarked, "Regi, I didn't expect to see you here so soon. Seems like you've improved your speed lately."

"Thanks for the compliment. Though with a Flygon, you've been rather slow. Is your skill declining?" Regi retorted sarcastically.

From the very beginning, the rivalry between the two was evident.

Neither Cain nor the defeated Kellogg seemed to matter to them in the slightest.

With Ren's arrival, more figures began to emerge from the forest, as if summoned by a signal.

Some joined Ren, others moved toward Regi. Among them were familiar faces to Cain, like Glacius and Aurelia.

Of course, there were also those who preferred to remain neutral, observing the situation from a distance.

Cain frowned, sensing that something about all this didn't add up.
