Aurora James - POV
"Nothing is wrong with me, Zander. Now can we please sleep?" I asked him, noticing a smile spread across his face. He pulled me closer, wrapping his arms around me as I settled my head on his chest and closed my eyes, feeling the warmth of his body and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
The comforting silence of the night enveloped us, and I felt myself drifting off, lulled by the peacefulness. But suddenly, I was startled awake by loud banging on my door. My heart raced as I opened my eyes to find the room shrouded in darkness. "Aurora, are you in there?" I heard Dad call from the other side.
"Yeah, do you need anything?" I replied, my voice still thick with sleep. The banging stopped, and I could hear him moving away.
