Beta Zander Perez - POV
It had been two long days since that eventful night with Aurora, and ever since then, we had maintained our distance, pretending to be angry with each other. I stood in front of the mirror, combing my hair, lost in thought when I felt a familiar tug in my mind. I reluctantly opened the link.
"Zander, where are you?" It was Adam's voice, urgent and clipped.
"I'm getting ready. I'll be out of the pack in an hour," I replied, trying to keep my tone casual, though the weight of my thoughts pressed heavily on my shoulders.
"Make sure she doesn't suspect a thing," he warned, and I rolled my eyes, knowing he was right but hating the situation even more.
"Of course," I said, cutting the link. I didn't want to do this, but Adam was insistent on getting the key out of there soon, and I knew we had no other options. Reluctantly, I pushed thoughts of Aurora aside and focused on the task at hand.
