Chapter 128 - 114: Often Because They're Not Perverted Enough, They're Out of Tune with You

These days, while Chase Parker devotes himself to developing new games, he still makes time to check out netizens' comments about the New World game platform.

He genuinely wants to hear players' thoughts on the platform's future and see if there's anything he can improve.

Then, Chase suddenly noticed something odd—when it comes to discussions about the game's development… hardly anyone is actually talking about the platform itself!

Most of the chatter is about Tifa. From her face to her figure, her voice to her personality, Tifa has been analyzed in ridiculous detail. And not just casual talk—netizens are obsessively breaking her down from every possible angle.

One user even theorized that Chase added a hidden affection system for Tifa, and once a player's affection reaches a certain level, they'll unlock new interactions. Honestly, if Chase wasn't the developer himself, even he might have believed it!

Sure enough, desire is the strongest motivator!

Another thing—most male netizens are madly complaining that Tifa's character design feels too distant. She can only be admired from afar, with no way to actually interact. They're demanding changes.

There was even a trending topic: "Kneeling and begging for Tifa interaction in 2020!"

Some fans even messaged Lisa Parker's social media directly, politely suggesting she "fix the bug where you can't interact with Tifa."

Chase couldn't help but laugh, though he didn't want to call them out. "Interact with her? You guys just wanna take advantage!"

The most viral post: [Players beware, I got kicked by Tifa!] definitely caught his attention.

Yes, Chase did program such a feature—when certain conditions are met, Tifa will attack a player. But that condition? You have to chase her around the map for more than three hours straight!

Three whole hours!!!

He never thought anyone would actually trigger it. Who has that kind of free time?!

Yet the player who posted it had the nerve to claim he only followed her for "a few minutes." A few minutes, his ass!

Even crazier—tons of netizens commented under the post, asking for a tutorial on how to get kicked by Tifa.

So many people wanted to get kicked by her…

Chase sat in silence, falling into deep thought. He suddenly realized the reason he's often out of sync with these players is because—he's just not perverted enough.

Truth be told, Chase actually wanted to give fans some real benefits. But in this tough regulatory environment, he really couldn't afford to. After all, New World is meant to be family-friendly, suitable for all ages.

If he added an interaction system with Tifa, his whole platform would get banned in a heartbeat—no chance of a Chinese release at all!!!

What could he do? He was frustrated too.

The Great Gatekeeper of All-Ages Content strikes again—no degenerates allowed!

"Hey, Chase! Chase!!!" Just then, Lisa Parker came running downstairs, phone in hand.

"A foreigner's looking for you!!!" she said breathlessly.

"I already said—I'm not talking to any of those foreign tech companies," Chase waved dismissively.

"This time it's not a tech company," Lisa replied.

"Huh? Then who is it?" Chase raised an eyebrow.

"It's Disney!!!" she exclaimed. "They want to make a movie with you!!!"

Lisa wasn't impressed by tech giants, but Disney? That's another story. She'd seen plenty of their blockbusters and animated classics.

No wonder she was so excited. Disney reaching out? She felt like she was about to become a star.

"You don't even speak English," Chase said suspiciously.

"I don't, but they spoke in Chinese!" Lisa shot back. "And they were super sincere—said they wanted to discuss collaboration with the person in charge of New World!"

"Nope. Reject them," Chase said without hesitation.

"Huh? Just like that?" Lisa blinked in disbelief.

"Yeah. It's obvious—they probably want me to help with special effects," Chase explained flatly.

Anyone with half a brain could guess that. The realism in his game environments was off the charts—way ahead of current film CGI.

Sure, Western movie effects are impressive these days, but compared to Chase's in-game rendering? Still not even close.

So yeah, it made sense that movie studios would come knocking. But Chase didn't have time for that—he liked making games more than making movies.

"Oh… okay then. I'll turn them down." Lisa nodded and turned to leave.

"Wait!" Chase called out. "Hey Lisa, if you wanna be a star, wanna make a cameo in my game?"

Lisa paused. "A cameo? What do you mean?"

"I'll scan your face, design an NPC to look just like you, and boom—you're in the game!" Chase grinned.

Lisa's eyes lit up. "Seriously?!"

"Of course. It's not that hard," Chase said.

"That's awesome!!!" Lisa jumped in excitement. "Chase, I wanna be in it! I wanna be in it!!!"

She knew how huge the New World platform was. If her face appeared in-game, she'd be famous in minutes.

"Okay okay, what kind of NPC do you want to be?" Chase asked.

"I wanna be a beautiful princess, with tons of admirers, and live a happy fairytale life!" she said dreamily.

Chase shook his head. "No such role."

"Okay… then maybe just a normal girl living a peaceful life?" she asked again.

"Nope. Not that either," he said again.

"…At least let me have a happy ending?" she asked weakly.

Chase didn't reply, but his regretful expression said it all.

"Ugh, forget it," Lisa waved him off. "I just realized all your NPCs are tragic messes. I'm not doing it. I'll probably end up playing some tragic captain in Cabin Two, screaming my lungs out while the ship sinks. No thanks!"

Chase: "…"

He wanted to argue, but… she wasn't wrong.

His NPCs really were pretty tragic these days.

"Well, it's your call."

Chase shrugged, indifferent. "One more thing—can you post a thread announcing our upcoming launch event?"

"Launch event?" Lisa asked curiously.

"Yeah. We're doing a New World game conference this Saturday night. I'll personally host it and announce the next game."

Game conferences are a must for AAA titles.

The previous game, Deep Sea Trek, didn't get one because Chase was rushing to launch.

But now that the market's booming and New World is growing fast, Chase wanted to treat his next title like a true AAA masterpiece.

"Whoa!!!" Lisa was stunned. "You already finished the next game?!"

"Not yet," Chase admitted. "But that's fine—it's just a press conference. I'll show a trailer at most."

"Which city's it in? Have you contacted the organizers?" Lisa asked.

"What organizers?" Chase laughed. "It'll be online—held directly on the New World platform. Anyone who downloaded it can attend."

Lisa's eyes sparkled. "Genius! I didn't know the platform could be used like that!"

"Heh, the platform's got way more potential than people realize." Chase smirked. "Now go make the post."

"On it!!!"

Lisa threw up an OK sign and ran off.

Soon, she posted:

"Ahem! Some good news for everyone—this Saturday at 9 PM, the Old Thief (aka Chase Parker) will be holding a live game conference to announce the next New World game!

If you want to attend, it's easy—just show up on time, put on your VR headset, open the platform, and you're in!"

Once the post went live, it lit up the fanbase:

"Whoa, Chase is a legend—didn't expect a game conference inside the platform!"

"That's such a cool idea!!!"

"Wait, Deep Sea Trek dropped just a month ago and we're already getting a new game??"

"Damn, New World never misses! I'm so hyped!!"

"Old Thief never lets us rest!"

"Also… fix the bug where we can't interact with Tifa, thanks."

Even as fans buzzed about the new game, Deep Sea Trek was still going strong.

That same night, content creator TenderTomato dropped a viral video:

[How many Easter eggs did Old Thief hide in Deep Sea Trek? I just found a living Ancient Leviathan in the no-man's zone!!!]
