This was it. The Inner Ring. The Royal Spire loomed in front of Ronin now. He could swear it was so tall that it looked like it pierced the night sky.
Varek and Kael had to be close now. If they weren't in front of him already, they were definitely close behind.
Ronin found himself not believing that he'd beat not one but two fragment wielders in a race to the Royal Spire.
The only problem was, he wasn't alone here. He could feel eyes watching him. From everywhere. Maybe it was just his imagination running wild. It tended to do that when he was stressed out.
But maybe it wasn't just his imagination. Maybe he really was being watched.
What if the Royals could see him? Right now?
They were supposedly godlike. What if they had powers to see everything that was going on around them?
Ronin wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
