Chapter 1 - ch1

Kris Heavenstone was a fifteen-year-old boy.

His diamond-blue hair swayed above his ivory face.

He was sitting at the front desk, studying chemistry.

Everyone knew him as a funny boy, due to his smiles and playful attitude.

But at the same time, he was secretly a genius.

"Well student, can you tell me the reaction of combustion?"

The teacher pointed his digital pencil towards the whiteboard.

Maybe it was too hard, the student remained silent, unable to answer it at all.

Kris knew the answer, but right now he was thinking about how to explain it properly.

"No voice? Then I will pick someone."

The teacher pointed at the chubby student.

"Do you know the answer?"

Seeing this, he flinched and stood up.

"Y.. yes sir."

His voice trembled.

Perhaps, if he hadn't played game until 3 AM, so he could focus on studying instead of napping in class.

"Say it."

The teacher snapped, as Kris turned his gaze to him.

"Ok, mister... It's about the god of fire paired with heat and then they blaze."

He randomly answered, even the only thing in his head was a spinning fish.

"Incorrect."

After the teacher's voice, everyone except Kris laughed in unison.

"Haha, bro think he lives in the anime world."

A student chanted, and it made the laughter louder.

Kris glanced around, seeing that the chubby student's face went pale, and lowered the gaze in embarrassment.

"Hey students, be quiet. And if nobody gives me an answer, I won't let you go home."

The teacher spread his hand slightly to stop their actions.

And it succeeded, the student now stopped laughing, and returned to stress.

To fix everything out, Kris raised his hand.

"You know the answer?"

The teacher turned his sight to him.

"Yes, sir. Once the hydrocarbon reacts with the oxygen."

Taking a deep breath, before the teacher nodded.

"Umm, keep it up."

"With enough heat, the combustion process begins. And the main product is carbon dioxide and water. Correct?"

As Kris finished his explanation, the teacher's smile widened with satisfaction.

"Very good, Kris. Everyone claps for him."

After the teacher complimented him, there was applause echoed through the room.

Upon hearing this, Kris breathed out with relief and pride, before gathering his backpack.

"I keep my word,"

The teacher announced.

"you can go home now."

All students bowed to the teacher, before leaving the classroom and backed home.

However, Kris decided to buy something to eat in the school cafeteria.

"Hey, young man, you want some?"

The seller asked, tidying a cash to her cashier.

"A bottle of green tea, please?"

Kris replied, he wanted something to drink to clean his weariness.

"One Everland-dollar, young man."

She handed him a bottle before Kris received it and gave her some money.

"Thank you."

The seller smiled, as Kris straightened to the bench.

While he walking, he twisted the lid.

It couldn't be fully opened, some part of it clung to the bottle.

'Bro, this is Everland, not the European Union, you don't need to make the lid like this."

Kris muttered himself.

Before he sat down, he spotted something strange.

The students in the tuxedo ran panically, and all of them were going nowhere.

Their expression, breath hissed, sweating skin.

And some of them fell to the ground.

It immediately reminded him, that something bad had happened, but what was it?

To clear his curiosity, he swiftly gave the fallen students a hand.

Once she rose, Kris stepped back to mind a distance and asked her.

"What's going on?"

Hearing this, she hesitated for a moment, before responded him tremblingly.

"T- Trust me?"

"Say it so."

Kris nodded, his gaze was a sign of intending to help.

"Well, there is a fire monster in the hall."

That hall was the place the students used for some supernatural experiments.

"And is there anyone left in the hall?"

Kris shouted, his voice was serious, despite he was a funny boy, but he knew this was a life or death situation.

She didn't answer, just nodding in response.

Seeing this, Kris was deep in thought, while he brought the magical green stone from his pocket, and held it tightly.

He wanted to help people from the danger, and didn't want to see anyone lose their breaths again.

He couldn't swipe out the bitter memory in his head.

But he was afraid, he never imagined the day when the soul escaped him.

That was the most difficult decision in his life, if not for him, then someone got this unwanted faith.

'Blast! I don't care what's gonna happen with me, look at my dad and mom! Risking their life to bring me joy.'

Then, the green stone was shining, which made he could decide.

He whispered to that female student, who trembling in fear.

"Huh, I'm on the stairway to heaven."

Hearing this, she froze, couldn't believe her ears.

"Seriously?"

Her voice was cracking with disbelief.

"Absolutely not."

Without hesitation, he suddenly went to the hall, leaving the female student shocked alone.

'God, please bring him a salvation.'

---

The air boiled by a flame's fragments, and everyone was begging for the chance to escape.

Kris reached the hall of terror and noticed everything was the same as that girl student stated.

Some people couldn't flee from this calamity, so Kris walked to them.

"What are you doing here? That's not your place."

Hearing this, they flinched, covering their nose from the ash.

"We.. don't know how to escape."

"Go out from the fire escape here, I will distract it."

He pointed towards the door at the left.

They obeyed, just dashing out, letting Kris do his job.

As everyone left, he slowly walked through the stage.

It might be highly risk, but he was ready to sacrifice.

'I leave my life behind.'

His mutter echoed in his head.

As he glanced straight, his limbs were weakened by terror.

The flame monster, a massive floating ghost with a skeleton face, and its body was blazing flame.

It wasn't red and orange like he expected, but it was a dark purple .

The color of it was nothing different from its armor, and its floating hand.

"Fool... human. Do you regret what you do?"

Its voice was deep and chill, causing Kris goosebumps.

"Regrets what!"

His voice escaped his clenching teeth.

"Ha- don't you know how worthless you are? All the things you do. Eating, sleeping, breeding, dying. Pathetic."

"We are not the dang animal!"

He yelled, uncaring what would happen to him.

"Fool humankind. How dare you let your dirty argue!?"

It responded, while punched straight.

The flame was thrown out from its hand, but Kris could evade it.

"Because I can."

Kris barked, while guarding himself, prepared for the fight.

He used to learn martial arts in his childhood.

"Good dodge. But still weak."

The monster continued throwing a purple-blazing fireball.

The only thing Kris heard was the crackling sound, amplifying his terror.

His limbs were turning noodles, and his eyes turned shut from the raiding spark.

'I never expect this monster to be that powerful.'

He muttered while he dodged the fireball, each jump was judging his life.

"Haha, You look like a rat when dodging a cat"

The monster laughed maniacally, and let out the huge fireball.

Fizz

Kris glanced at his back, where the flame slightly burned his body.

He clenched his teeth, the severe pain pierced through the wound.

Looking upwards, the monster's smirk deepened, satisfying his suffering. Its gaze, a mockery of his condition.

Yet, as the pain and anger overcome his fear.

The combustion process flashed through his head, reminding him what to do.

He had just learned that from the chemical class.

'I need to clean that oxygen!'

He hissed, before dropping through the floor.

Rolling repeatedly, and his hand covered his body.

Upon seeing this, the monster taunted, while looking with disdain eyes.

"Haha, You look dumb."

But Kris ignored it, once the flame vanished, he started bringing out his green stone again.

Its shine was brighter, would be a sign that the time came.

As he looked, a faint memory flashed through his mind.

The day that was his birthday, the day he got a precious gift.

The last voice of his beloved mother, that he never heard it again.

"Kris, I will go to the utopian land. And that's the green stone. Please keep it with you. If the worst time comes, it will send you help."

Though it was three years ago, this memory remains in his brain.

Back in the present, he had no more way to fight against the monster.

Kris faintly blew the green stone, before squeezing it and reciting.

"Life, miracle, circle, inevitably.

A little swallow plea for desperate hope, and everyone falls to the ground. "

Upon seeing this, the monster tried to interrupt.

It threw a fireball through him, but there was a barrier shielding his figure, making its attempt unsuccessful.

"Impossible...."

The flame monster murmured.

Now, Kris's body was turned into the emerald, he sensed the overwhelmed power across.

"You. Vanish.."

He pointed at the monster.

Looked like the predator became the prays, Kris rapidly dashed toward it.

Explosion!!!

Kris punched it powerfully, and the green power spread toward the fist.

"You.. the human! Impossible!!!!"

The fire monster exclaimed before it vanished through the air.

"Mission completed."

Kris muttered softly, then he fell to the ground, with a faint smile.
