"By doing what?" Mia was sure that she had misheard the man. She batted her eyelashes, looking confused and a bit startled. She brought her hand to her bosom and turned to look around her as if she were expecting someone else to be standing next to her.
When she didn't see anyone, Mia chuckled a little. "I am sorry, Mr Jackson. I don't think that it will be right to do so. I believe you have already arranged a partner for yourself, right?"
"It's Levi," said the man with a subtle smile that made Mia remember the princes and the kings she had seen on television. "And no, I didn't arrange for a partner. I was going to just pop into the party and then leave, unlike the rest of them… I have no intention to flatter Aunt Harley. If that was my plan, then I would have called her for dinner at my home."
