Regina's eyes widened in surprise as she tilted her head slightly to look at Edgar. The dappled sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting shifting shadows that cloaked her in an eerie twilight. She couldn't quite read his expression, but something deep inside told her he wasn't joking.
"Hey, isn't it a waste to play such a beautiful piece just for me alone?" Regina frowned, though a strange joy stirred quietly in her chest.
"Not at all." Edgar casually sat beside her, the violin bow dangling from his hand over the bench's armrest. He raised an eyebrow defiantly, his gaze burning intensely into Regina's. "This piece is the inspiration you gave me. Consider it a gift for our first meeting…"
Regina felt a little uneasy under the depth of his dark, night-like eyes, her own flickering nervously. "I don't have a gift to give you back!"
