Mordred stood next to Aizawa and grumbled about how much she didn't want to be there. Aizawa ignored her and continued to wait for Class 1-A.
Mordred was currently wearing the system's hero costume. The costume consisted of a backpack created and programmed through the combination of Izuku's technical know-how and Emiya's inherited knowledge granted to him by his quirk. The suit could change its appearance, depending on which Alter was in the driver's seat. This was definitely more important than ever because, recently, the transformation of their body had become more complete. That's right, for those who figured it out: when Mordred had control, the body changed gender.
In fact, that's how it worked for all of the Alters. If they were male, they kept a more Izuku-style look, but if they were female, they would embrace a more teenage Inko look.
Anyway, the only part of the costume that was constant was the red cloak. (For those who have seen the anime, think of Gran Torino's cape that Izuku wears, but red.)
Meanwhile, in the girls' locker room, Astolfo was hiding in the shower. He hadn't been paying attention and had been dragged into the girls' locker room by the six female students in his class. Feigning embarrassment, he had quickly run into the shower.
"I just gotta wait until everybody else is done, then I can leave," Astolfo thought as he quickly changed his clothes. Normally, he wouldn't have minded being pulled into the girls' locker room. He had no shame, but he didn't want to make the girls uncomfortable, and plus, they didn't know he wasn't a girl. It was an honest mistake.
Why didn't he tell anyone he was a guy? Well, he had a strange feeling that some rat king and vampire would be very upset with him if he did. He didn't want to know what horrible things they would do to him if he spoiled their fun.
After a while of waiting, Astolfo heard someone yell his name. "Astolfo, are you almost done? We're already dressed and ready to go. Do you need some help?"
Astolfo quickly made his way out of the shower. "No! I'm fine. It just took a little longer than I thought it would." The six girls stood by the door, clearly waiting for his arrival. Smiling awkwardly, Astolfo joined them as they headed toward the sports field.
Aizawa and Mordred watched as the 20 students of Class 1A arrived at the sports field.
"I said five minutes. You guys took ten," Aizawa said in an unimpressed tone. "We will be discussing your punctuality issues in the future." Aizawa looked at Mordred and threw a baseball to her.
"You guys are familiar with the standard physical education test they do in middle school, correct?" The class nodded. "Good. We will be doing that. My trusty assistant and tutorial monkey over there," Aizawa pointed at Mordred, who made a noise of aggravation, "will demonstrate the tests and how you should approach them. We will be using quirks because public schools seem to have the extremely pathetic and stupid idea that all humans are created equally."
Aizawa gave his class a piercing look. "You should already know this, based on the fact that you made it into the hero course. You've proven yourselves to be above those who didn't make it. Life's not fair, and anyone who tells you anything different is selling something."
Aizawa then turned around and addressed Mordred. "You've done these tests before. Chuck the ball!"
Mordred gave Aizawa a deadpan look before walking to the center of the circle, activating her quirk and winding up for a pitch. Red lightning crackled across her skin as she thoroughly enhanced her physical state. With this electrifying ability, she wound back and released the ball with a sonic boom.
Aizawa stared down at his phone as he watched the numbers rise until eventually, the ball hit the ground and slowly rolled to a stop. He then turned his phone around to display the distance Mordred had thrown the ball.
"10,326 meters!" was what was shown. "Yes! A new record!" Mordred shouted. "I finally passed that infuriating doofus!"
Class 1A stood in silence, watching their senpai as she celebrated her miraculous throw. As they stared at her in disbelief, they suddenly realized that using their quirks could yield equally impressive scores. This thought excited them; the idea of using their quirks for any activity outside of control training was thrilling.
They began to chatter excitedly about how great and easy the hero course was going to be. Aizawa, however, did not appreciate their enthusiasm. "The hero course is extremely serious. If you're here to have fun, go work at McDonald's. Hero work is about saving lives, and if you're just here to enjoy yourselves, then you don't need to be here. The person who gets the worst score on this physical test will be expelled."
The entirety of Class 1A froze. As they slowly processed what their teacher had said, their faces began to pale considerably. This was especially true for the students with quirks that weren't particularly helpful for the test. They were white as sheets. Mordred smiled; this was one of her favorite tests that Aizawa used to assess his class. If they failed and were expelled, then they were clearly hopeless from the start. The only reason last year's class had been expelled was that they didn't take Aizawa seriously and messed around during the entire test. The students who succeeded in not getting expelled didn't last much longer either.
Most of Class 1A, realizing the severity of the situation, decided to give their all to avoid expulsion. However, three students didn't seem worried at all. The first was Bakugo; he had the confident look of someone who knew he would pass. Neither Aizawa nor Mordred was concerned about him not taking the test seriously; they knew he always gave it his all. It was one of the few decent qualities the kid had.
The second was Momo Yaoyorozu. She didn't seem to take the threat seriously at all, but based on her academic history, Aizawa believed she would do her best despite this. The last of the three was Shoto Todoroki. He was the one Aizawa and Mordred watched most closely. He didn't seem to care at all, and based on his mental profile, he likely wouldn't give his best, even if asked. Whether he would remain in Class 1A after this test was entirely up to Aizawa's discretion.
== Authors note
Chapter is a little short, but I felt like that was the perfect place to end it. Next chapter will be back to Astolfo's POV As he does, the standardized test for the first time. I was going to write on Sunday, but I ended up being really busy, so I never got around to it. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I'm going to go refamiliarize myself with the test that happened during the quirk apprehension test. Bye!✌️
