Chapter 38 - Awakening

The cracks of the fiercely battle slowly spread to the hospital. The two women were in the air, clashing again and again. Both had sustained wounds, though Saphire was bleeding more. Th battle against Dara had left their traces on her and drained her energy more than she had believed. And now they demanded their price.

Seraphina threw her spear at Saphire who managed to defend against it, slashing the spear away. However, when the spear was away Seraphina too was nowhere to be found. Only when Saphire heard the beating of wings she rose her head. Just in time for Seraphina to smash her burning fist into her face. Saphire clashed in the ground. But Seraphina was not done. The battle had shifted to her favor and she would use that opportunity. Right away, she opened her mouth and shot a sea of flames at Saphire who was busy standing up. The flames met her merciless.

Still, she wouldn't be a Celestial if that was all it took to defeat her. She arose from the flames, wounded, yet her majestic demeanor had remained. And she bellowed:

'So that is the power of a dragon monarch! Excellent! You're the first dragon to push me this far! Let me display my true power!' The winds started gathering in one place. And in its center the wicked demon energy was also gathering. So much air gathered there that Seraphina had problems breathing and at the same time she fought the pull of the wind. (Seraphina: Damn! If we continue, this place, no, the whole city will be blown away!)

In the hospital

Dean had no time to question what was happening right now. He had one job and only one – Protect Larah and defeat the light priest and he would accomplish it, no matter the price. And once again he felt that burning sensation, this time stronger. He pounced on the roots which were closing in. Not understanding anything Dean simply thrust his fist forward. And his fist did the job, destroying the roots, one after the other.

'The fuck!', the light priest bellowed. 'No, that can't be! I must finish him as fast as possible!' The priest launched another attack. However, this time he formed a sword made out of his ability and launched at Dean, hiding behind his roots. Punch after punch followed, destroying the roots. The last one shot at Dean, forming to a snake and in the same way it moved towards Dean.

Dean was sweating a lot, his heart throbbing and his palms hurting. His legs wanted to rest and his eyes craved a break. However, Dean's will had other plans. It fueled the body the necessary energy to once again confront the enemy. Dean formed a mighty fist which started glowing in a white and golden light. Now trying to understand what was happening to his hand Dean punched the snake and destroyed it completely. Behind the explosion the priest emerged and with a thrust of his sword he penetrated Dean's chest. Right away, a light exploded from Dean, towering into the heaven and on its part destroying everything that was in its way. Larah was – She didn't know what to say and do anymore and she had no strength left for it. So she remained silent, marveling the beauty of the light.

On the battlefield

Commander Nootra transformed back into his human form. At once, all energy left his body. But for his luck Nicole was by his side to keep him up.

'Boss, didn't know you have that power in you!'

'I never told anyone about it! The first time I used it this power I … killed many people, people dear to me. That's why …'

'I understand, I understand!' Just as she had spoken to the end soldiers from special force alpha arrived on the battlefield and helped Jessie and the other soldiers exterminating the ghouls. Quickly Commander Nootra put some place to Nicole, coughing.

'Explain the situation! Why are you here? What is happening in the forest?' A soldier saluted and reported:

'A demon appeared and she was on celestial level. Dara stayed behind to get you.'

'That can't be Dara fighting!', the commander uttered. 'This is a battle between two persons on celestial level, that's sure! We should' – a pillar of light, Dean's light, shot out the hospital. Its goal – The heaven itself!

In the forest

Just when Saphire and Seraphina were about to clash thy noticed the column of light. Seraphina was the first one stop. She settled her gaze on the light.

 'Someone you know?', Saphire inquired.

 'Yeah.'

'Then let's stop the fight. Seems like your presence is needed somewhere else. And I must admit fighting you in my state, well, I hate to admit it but right now I stand no chance.'

'Well, we did agree on a fair fight and it wouldn't be fair to fight you when you are not at full power. Ok, then go. But if I feel your energy in this area, I'll hunt you!'

'You won't I give you my word!' And so Seraphina hurried to the light while Saphire left the battlefield.
