"Dr Cole is on leave." The nurse replied, and my heart skipped a beat. We did not drive all the way to this place just to get what we were trying desperately to avoid.
"Is he in town?" I asked, I needed something to hold onto. Something hopeful.
"I don't know sir," She replied, and let out a breath in a whoosh. Idris was right beside me now, looking just as confused and disappointed.
I cast one long look at Nicole as she laid unconscious on the bed, and brought out my phone to call Dr Cole. I had only one wish in mind. Two, really.
"Hello, Dr Cole," I said into the phone once Dr Cole answered it.
"Mr Leonard," he called from the other end. His voice was calm and relaxed, and it was a good sign. More than a good sign. Idris signaled me just then to go straight to the point, and of course, there was no beating around the bush on this.
"There is a situation," I started to say. " How fast can you make it to the hospital?" I asked, and Idris nodded in agreement.
