Chapter 59: A False Alarm
Gojo Satoru: ???
Masamichi Yaga: ???
From the phone, Tatsuro's voice said calmly, "It seems I've played my eyes blind. Gojo-sensei, do you know how to treat them?"
"Uhh... wait a moment, I'm coming over right now."
As soon as Gojo Satoru finished speaking, he stood up and glanced around, his gaze finally locking onto the window.
"Satoru, don't go out the window... go..."
Before Masamichi Yaga could finish the word "go," the glass shattered with a *crack* and scattered on the floor. Gojo Satoru was already gone.
"..."
"The window repair costs will be deducted from your salary."
...
Tatsuro was currently fumbling for his clothes. To be honest, being blind surprisingly gave him a sense of belonging, as if he had returned to the very night he had just transmigrated.
Alone, exploring his surroundings. Except, back then it was fear; now, it felt interesting.
Perhaps it was because he was within Jujutsu High. Tatsuro didn't feel anything was particularly wrong at the moment. He contacted Shura in his mind:
"Shura, get up and help me see if these clothes are on right side out."
"Woo~ (Coming.)"
Shura opened its eyes and looked at its master fumbling with clothes, complaining internally, *"Now he's even making his dog do this."*
With Shura's simple guidance, Tatsuro put on his clothes, opened the bolted door, and stood at the entrance, waiting for Gojo Satoru's arrival.
Shura lay down beside him. Anyway, apart from direct commands, wherever its master went, it would go.
Tatsuro stood there without a word, as if lost in thought. He imagined a future life as a blind man, perhaps opening a blind man's restaurant or something. No particular reason, he just felt that a blind person cooking would be rather outlandish and wanted to try it.
Blind man's massage, blind man's bone-setting – those were lame. He'd go straight for blind man's stir-fry.
After thinking for a long time, he didn't know how much time had passed when a female voice came from the hallway, sounding somewhat like a complaint.
"Satoru, what's your hurry? I haven't even finished my autopsy."
"Don't worry, don't worry, I have a better patient here. If he can't be saved, you can have him for autopsy, okay?"
"..."
*"The patient Gojo-sensei is talking about should be me, right...?"* Tatsuro thought, speechless. Although he didn't want to think so, it seemed there was no one else.
*Clack, clack, clack...*
The footsteps grew closer; the sound of high heels on the floor was exceptionally crisp. Tatsuro turned his head to look. Before he could speak, he smelled the lingering scent of smoke in the air. He frowned and reminded, "Smoking is harmful to health."
"Oh my, quite interesting." The woman chuckled and didn't say much more, but proficiently extinguished the cigarette in her hand. She looked at Gojo Satoru beside her and said in a teasing tone, "This student of yours is really amusing."
"Isn't he just?" Gojo Satoru walked up to Tatsuro, held up four fingers, and asked, "How many is this?"
"Two. If not, then three." Tatsuro complained, "My eyes are really blind. What good would it do me to lie to you, Gojo-sensei?"
"Hey, hey, you got it right! Looks like your eyes are fine. Let's go, Shoko. So sorry to make you come all this way for nothing," Gojo Satoru said with a congratulatory smile.
"..."
*"You don't mess with your students like this!"*
Just as Tatsuro shouted, Shoko Ieiri beside him chuckled and said, "Alright, alright, stand still and let me take a look."
Shura was lying nearby. Although it didn't recognize this woman who was currently prodding its master's eyeballs, it figured nothing was wrong, as its master hadn't issued an attack command.
"Your eyes aren't blind." After finishing the examination, Shoko Ieiri said, "The nerves are somewhat damaged and are currently recovering on their own. They should be fine in half a day or a day. It's not a major problem."
"Not blind? Really?" Learning his eyes weren't blind, Tatsuro was somewhat agitated. He grabbed Shoko Ieiri's hand by feel and continued to ask, "Could you please check again?"
"No need. The result will be the same even if I check again. I have other things to do." Shoko Ieiri directly declined. She still had an autopsy unfinished when this Satoru fellow dragged her over. Not to mention, this patient only had a minor issue, not even requiring Reverse Cursed Technique, and her examination couldn't possibly be wrong.
Seeing this, Tatsuro couldn't insist. Anyway, hearing that his eyes weren't blind was good enough. He should trust the doctor Gojo-sensei had brought. If he were a doctor, he would think the same way.
"Okay, thank you."
"It's nothing, just a small effort. If you really want to thank me, bring me some tasty treats next time you come over. My name is Shoko Ieiri, the physician here at Jujutsu High."
Shoko Ieiri left immediately after speaking.
"Shoko Ieiri..." Tatsuro muttered to himself. For some reason, the name sounded familiar, but he couldn't quite place it at the moment. It seemed he would have to wait until his eyes recovered to confirm.
Gojo Satoru patted Tatsuro's shoulder and said, "Alright, since your eyes are mostly fine, get some rest. I'll go tell Maki and the others that dinner can't be made tonight."
"Mm, sorry to trouble you, Gojo-sensei. In my current condition, I really can't make a decent meal."
"No problem. Rest well, don't put too much pressure on yourself."
Feeling Gojo-sensei leave, Tatsuro stretched, sighing in relief internally, *"Phew, I thought my eyes were really blind. What a false alarm."*
Then he crouched down, fumbled around, and found Shura's head. He rubbed it vigorously a few times and said, "Help me fetch my sunglasses, and also your leash. I'll take you out to play."
"Woof! (Go play?)"
Hearing about going out to play, Shura immediately got up, pushed open the door, and ran inside happily, its tongue lolling out, its brain excitedly shouting, *"Play! Go out to play! No training, go out to play!"*
It snatched the dog leash hanging on the wall, put it on itself, jumped onto the bed, gently picked up the sunglasses, and then excitedly ran out the door.
For a dog only three months old, Shura's mind had only been instilled by Tatsuro with how to fight and obey commands. It didn't know what "eyes being blind" meant. It only knew that its master needed it right now, and... its master was going to take it out to play.
For instance, delicious food could make it happy for half a day, and no training would make it happy for a whole day. But if Tatsuro took it out to play, it could be happy for at least two or three days.
"Woof! (Ready!)"
"Mm, let's go. We're going out to play."
Tatsuro took the sunglasses from Shura's mouth and put them on his nose, then securely fastened the dog leash that was around Shura's neck. Its body was too big now; if they were going for normal grocery shopping, he wouldn't take it to crowded places, just have it wait in sparsely populated areas.
Going into the city might cause some unnecessary trouble, but today it didn't matter. Anyway, he was bored stiff. If trouble wanted to come, let it come; it would be a good way to pass the time.
He took the sunglasses from Shura's mouth, opened them and put them on his nose, locked the dog chain on its neck, held the dog leash, and sat on its back, patting its shoulder and saying:
"Let's go. Today, Daddy will personally teach you how to pick up girls!"
"Woof!"
