Chapter 60: Regarding My Good-natured Reminder.
Leaving Jujutsu High.
Shura galloped towards the city they often visited, like a playful child, recklessly squandering its youth in amusement, its mind entirely focused on what fun things to do.
...
"Boom shakalaka..."
On the road, a sports car blasted explosive music. The speed limit on this sparsely traveled mountain road was 80, but the car's owner was driving at 110, chasing the thrill that speed provided.
In the passenger seat sat a rather sexy woman. Her wavy hair cascaded over her shoulders, a cigarette dangled from her lips, and her head bobbed unconsciously to the dynamic music. Her red, off-the-shoulder dress reached mid-thigh, and her eyes were glazed over.
The man in the driver's seat held the steering wheel with one hand, a cigarette in his left, seemingly ingesting some intoxicating substance. His face was flushed as he passionately yelled, "Yeehaw!! To hell with all that damn studying, I've got plenty of money!"
Tap, tap, tap!
The car window made a rhythmic, crisp sound, as if someone were knocking on it. The man looked over, somewhat puzzled, then his expression turned as if he'd seen a ghost. He muttered:
"No way?! Someone's actually riding a dog as fast as my sports car!?"
Tatsuro was currently knocking on the window of an overspeeding car, shouting, "You're speeding! Please slow down. If you keep this up, you'll easily get into an accident."
"Damn it!" the man cursed inwardly. He extinguished the cigarette in his left hand, gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands, and slammed his foot on the accelerator. The sports car roared, its speed quickly approaching 130 mph.
Feeling the sports car rapidly pulling away, Tatsuro patted Shura's shoulder and shouted, "Can you catch up?"
"Woof! (Of course!)"
Shura looked at the receding sports car, a crimson cursed energy flaring up around its body. It then chased after it with even more effort, like a dog chasing a fleeing cat.
Inside the sports car.
The woman, feeling the car suddenly accelerate, gradually regained her senses and asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
"N-nothing. I must have been seeing things just now." The man swallowed hard, comforting himself internally, "I probably ingested too much and my vision got blurry. How could a dog possibly run at 110 mph with a person on its back?"
Tap, tap, tap!
"Your speed is too high! Please slow down and stop the car, and return to the normal speed limit for this road."
The sudden voice nearly scared the man into wetting his pants. This time, he didn't even dare to look at the window, directly flooring the accelerator and shouting, "Am I seeing a ghost in broad daylight?!"
The now-alert woman watched the rapidly increasing speed, her expression tensing. She shouted a reminder, "Slow down! Slow down! If you keep driving like this, the car will go out of control!"
While turning, the car ran over a quail-egg-sized stone, and instantly lost control.
If it had been a driver operating normally, there probably would have been no issue, perhaps even time to react and avoid it. But this car was already pushing nearly 170 mph. There was no room for thought; the car flew off the road, plunging straight into the woods beside it.
"Woof woof, woof woof woof! (Master, the car is gone.)"
Shura also gradually slowed to a stop, looking at the tire marks on the ground and the broken trees by the roadside. Then, a violent explosion echoed from within the woods.
"..."
Hearing the explosion, Tatsuro was speechless. He had merely encountered a speeding vehicle and kindly reminded the driver. Now, the driver wouldn't need any more reminders in the future; he was heading straight to heaven...
Although he knew everyone in the car was likely wiped out – after all, even Shura couldn't catch that car, so its speed was imaginable, and it had exploded, leaving almost no chance of survival – Tatsuro still jumped off Shura and commanded:
"Go see if there's anyone alive. If there is, rescue them."
Receiving the command, Shura charged directly into the woods.
Tatsuro, meanwhile, took out his phone to call the police. After all, in his current blind state, he was a burden. Though he possessed cursed energy, he wasn't familiar with the world of the blind and had no intention of meddling in this world further.
After a short while, the call connected. A woman's voice came through the phone, "This is the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. How can I help you?"
"I'm on the way to Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu High School and saw a car accident. We are currently trying to rescue the people inside. Please come quickly. Yes..."
After briefly explaining the situation, Tatsuro hung up. He had made the call; now it was just a matter of seeing if anyone inside was alive, though the probability was very low.
He sighed helplessly, "Sigh, isn't it good to obey the law? Why drive so fast? Now look, who knows when they'll be able to drive a car again. Luckily, I only ride a dog and don't drive. It's far too dangerous."
In the forest.
The car that had careened into the forest had crashed into a towering tree. The driver's side was completely destroyed by the tree, and red bloodstains were visible on the ground.
The woman in the passenger seat was still strapped in by her seatbelt. Her body seemed largely unharmed, but she had been stunned by the shockwave of the earlier explosion. Her mind was blank, her vision blurry; she could only see a field of fiery red.
If no one came to rescue her, she would be burned alive by the fire within five minutes.
She whispered, "It hurts so much... Is anyone coming to save me?"
Clang! Clang!
Loud noises echoed beside her, causing the drowsy Kurosaki Mafuyu to slowly open her eyes. One look out the window, and she fainted from fright.
Shura was currently tearing at the car door, its pupils crimson. It had just heard someone inside calling for help. According to its master's instructions, it had to save her.
With just three tugs, it forcibly ripped off the jammed car door, tore open the seatbelt, then bit the woman's arm and dragged her out of the car, heading towards its master to claim credit.
On the way, it saw the human on the driver's side, crushed into a meat patty, but only glanced at him without paying further mind. After all, its master only wanted the living rescued.
A minute later, Shura brought the still-living woman to Tatsuro and then sat on the ground, wagging its tail.
Tatsuro was currently half-squatting. He just touched the woman's wrist to check if her pulse was beating. But after checking, he felt it wasn't quite right. What if she was currently bleeding? Wouldn't she bleed to death?
Facing Shura, he said, "Where on her body is she bleeding?"
Shura looked down. The woman before it was red all over. It said, "Woof woof! (All blood!)"
"..."
Tatsuro was speechless, knowing this dog's intelligence still needed improvement. He didn't ask further but reached out his hands and began to feel her over, bit by bit. This was the last resort.
After all, from an outsider's perspective, he currently looked like a pervert touching a corpse...
As he felt around, he noticed something odd. This woman's hand bones were a bit too delicate, as if not fully developed. It seemed she was quite young.
As Tatsuro felt her over, he muttered to himself, "Blood is seeping from her forehead, but it's not serious. Back of the head is fine. No wounds on the neck."
"Ahem, ahem! Next part, next part..."
After fumbling around, Tatsuro confirmed her injuries. Her forehead was slightly scraped and had already scabbed over. Her thigh was scratched, but it wasn't a major issue, just a surface wound that didn't need immediate treatment. He just wasn't sure if there were any internal injuries.
For now, all they could do was wait for the police to arrive.
