"Good morning."
Early in the morning, Arthur had just woken up and saw Jeanne already waiting outside.
"Good morning," Jeanne greeted Arthur with a smile. "You look quite refreshed."
"Of course. With such fine weather, why shouldn't one take the time to rest properly?"
"You seem to be in a very good mood."
Arthur returned her smile. Just then, a Heroic Spirit suddenly appeared before them—it was Kay!
"Lord. Caster's magic workshop has been located."
"What!"
"What! Caster's magic workshop!"
At that moment, two voices rang out. One was Jeanne's in surprise, and the other was Tokiomi Tohsaka, who had just arrived.
"A magic workshop?" Arthur pondered. It seemed to be in some kind of sewer, but shouldn't it have been destroyed by now?
Actually, the reason it was destroyed in the past was by Iskandar, but because the kings' banquet was earlier, Iskandar hadn't gone there yet.
"In that case, Kay, lead the way."
"Yes, my lord!"
Arthur noticed that the usually cheerful and lively girl was now so serious. It seemed that pervert hadn't given up on his killing spree!
Just as Arthur and Kay were about to leave, Jeanne stood up!
"No! I'm going with you!!!"
"Why?" Arthur frowned. "Your current condition—"
"It's alright, you're here, aren't you?"
Trust shone in Jeanne's eyes, which pleased Arthur, but he didn't want to bring her. He knew that in Jeanne's eyes, Marshal Gilles was probably still the friend she trusted. But—
"Jeanne, you should rest. That place is really not suitable for you."
"No! I don't believe Gilles would become like that. Please, take me with you?"
Jeanne looked at Arthur with pleading eyes. Reluctantly, Arthur agreed. He knew that Jeanne wouldn't believe it unless she saw it with her own eyes.
Helplessly, the two left.
"Lord, Caster—"
"If I kill him, he's yours to deal with."
"Thank you for your grace, my lord."
Tokiomi Tohsaka and Risei Kotomine had jointly decided that whoever killed Gilles would receive a Command Seal as a reward.
The two followed Kay out of there.
Heroic Spirits were fast. It didn't take them long to reach their destination.
The group arrived deep within the sewers. Here, there were numerous tentacle monsters guarding the area, indicating hidden dangers.
Of course, these were nothing to Arthur. With a command, the knights swiftly eliminated the tentacle monsters.
"Hah!"
The group rode their horses through the sewers, with Jeanne sitting in front of Arthur on his horse. This romantic scene was happening in such a disgusting place, truly a mood killer.
A stench wafted over, and Arthur immediately used the Wind Barrier to block it all.
Leaving the defensive perimeter, they encountered another group of various tentacle monsters. Truly disgusting.
Arthur said nothing about the numerous tentacle monsters; a squad of knights naturally took care of them.
"This is Gilles' magic workshop?"
"Looking at the history books, coupled with my understanding of Gilles, he shouldn't be a true magus."
"Then what is he?"
"He reached the level of a magus by utilizing his Noble Phantasm. That's all."
"Indeed, we've arrived at the destination?"
The group finally managed to enter the space. At the end of the sewer, the space gradually expanded into a warehouse-like area.
"Gilles is indeed not here."
Arthur looked around. It seemed Gilles had already left this place.
"What are these?"
Jeanne saw several boxes. She was about to open one when Arthur immediately stopped her. Arthur knew what these things were.
"Jeanne, don't look. It's not good."
Arthur stopped Jeanne, but she didn't agree. She said firmly, "It's alright, I'm a Heroic Spirit who came from the battlefield. I'll be fine."
"Even so—"
"It's alright."
Jeanne suddenly opened a box. What she saw inside made her expression one of disbelief!
"This is!"
Jeanne was a valkyrie who had come from the battlefield. She had witnessed mountains of corpses and seas of blood, so she thought she wouldn't be too shocked. But now, everything before her filled her with fear.
If it were just corpses, Jeanne wouldn't feel anything. But—
Jeanne had thought that at most, she would see fragmented bodies. But what was here was completely different!
This place was practically a neatly arranged shopping platform.
What were all these things! Musical instruments! Weapons! Various drawings, the vibrant red colors indicating the artist possessed extraordinary artistic talent!
It seemed the artist must have particularly loved his artwork!
He was completely different from those homicidal maniacs!
There were no fragmented corpses here; those unnecessary things had long been discarded.
This kind of killing was invisibly more terrifying; it was simply despair-inducing!!!
Jeanne covered her mouth, trying hard not to scream. She couldn't imagine that a human could do this.
Arthur jumped down, gently embracing Jeanne.
"It's alright, Jeanne."
"I will never forgive him! I will absolutely never forgive him!!!"
Jeanne didn't respond to Arthur; she just kept repeating these words.
The hurt in Jeanne's heart had turned this saintly woman into a child in need of care!
"I'm going to kill him!!"
"Don't be impulsive!!! Jeanne."
Arthur held Jeanne back and said to her, "Don't worry, I won't let him get away."
"I—" Jeanne lowered her head. "Why… why do people become like this?"
"People change."
"Will you too?"
"Perhaps?"
"Then I hope that day never comes."
The group walked out of the sewer. Everything inside had been burned clean by Arthur's flames. Hopefully, the souls trapped there could finally find peace.
They left the area, but Gilles' name had been added to everyone's mental kill list. His days were numbered.
Meanwhile, Jeanne looked at Arthur, a sense of peace temporarily returning to her heart. The two left together under the sunlight.
A thought had begun to form in Jeanne's mind. Looking at Arthur's face, she knew what she should do. It seemed she should properly learn about mana transfer, hoping that she could help him well in the future.
Arthur, of course, had no idea what Jeanne was thinking. Instead, he pondered the recent events. According to the original story, Tokiomi Tohsaka should be dead by now. Although Kirei Kotomine hadn't been swayed by Gilgamesh, Arthur didn't know what he was thinking, so Kirei Kotomine needed careful observation.
