Chapter 91 - Chapter 91: The Stolen Digi-Armor of Courage

Chapter 91: The Stolen Digi-Armor of Courage

The cave wasn't very large, roughly around twenty to thirty square meters. At the center stood a protruding stone table, and on top of it rested the object.

It was an egg—oval-shaped with alternating red and yellow stripes, a sharp blade-like protrusion on top, and a unique symbol in the center that resembled the sun.

"The Digi-Armor (Digi-Spirit) that represents Courage?"

Yamcha recognized it at a glance. The sun-like symbol on the egg represented courage—it was the emblem of the Crest of Courage.

He stepped forward and examined it carefully. Indeed, it was exactly as he remembered—the Digi-Armor of Courage.

He wasn't sure if the item was mechanized to only be lifted by a chosen one or if anyone strong enough could pick it up.

The moment he touched the Digi-Armor of Courage, Yamcha effortlessly lifted it.

Just like Daisuke Motomiya did in the original storyline.

Holding the Digi-Armor in his hand, Yamcha recalled a classic quote from the JoJo series: "Courage is the greatest anthem of humanity!"

Was Yamcha lacking courage? Clearly not.

Although he often seemed overly prepared and cautious, that didn't mean he lacked courage. Caution and courage aren't mutually exclusive—otherwise, he wouldn't have chosen the thorn-filled path of Plan A to grow stronger.

When the Digi-Armor of Courage was lifted, it revealed a small hole beneath the stone platform.

Three beams of light in different colors shot out from inside.

They were Digivices—also known as Holy Plans or D3 Digivices.

Yamcha immediately reached out to grab them. Their speed was nothing to him, yet he still missed all three. It seemed they were already bound to someone else.

But that wasn't all. With a flash of orange light, a small humanoid blue dinosaur-like creature began to materialize.

Veemon, a dragon-type Digimon, ancient vaccine species—able to evolve into two of the Royal Knights. Even its fusion form, Imperialdramon, was a divine favorite among Holy Knights.

It was the partner of the second-generation protagonist Daisuke Motomiya, but had also once been the partner of legendary Tamer Ryo Akiyama, who defeated Millenniumon with him.

Because of this, Daisuke gained a reputation as "second-hand everything": second-hand partner, second-hand crest (Digi-Spirit), even second-hand fusion partner (Ken Ichijouji's original partner was Ryo Akiyama), and even second-hand goggles (originally from Taichi).

Yamcha pocketed the Digi-Armor of Courage. Suddenly, he sensed several presences approaching the cave.

At the same time, a surprised voice rang out.

"What were those three beams of light?"

It was a teenage boy, his voice still changing.

Taichi Yagami, the protagonist of the first series?

The Digi-Armor of Courage hadn't yet been taken, and Taichi was still around—meaning this was the beginning of the storyline.

Yamcha didn't awaken Veemon. Not that he didn't consider partnering with him, but there was no need.

So he hid immediately.

The story unfolded as usual. Taichi got trapped and sent a distress message. His sister Hikari (Kari), Takeru Takaishi, and "Second-Hand-suke" (Daisuke) came to his rescue.

But without the Digi-Armor of Courage, Veemon couldn't evolve into Flamedramon. And within the range of the Dark Towers, Digivolution wasn't possible at all.

Just when everything seemed to be under the control of Ken Ichijouji (the Digimon Emperor), Yamcha stepped in.

He destroyed the Dark Tower from the shadows, resolving the crisis.

Even after everyone left the Digital World, Yamcha had no intention of revealing himself.

The main cast drew too much attention—easy targets for enemies like BelialVamdemon (BelialMyotismon), and his henchmen Arukenimon and Mummymon, not to mention the mysterious Four Holy Beasts who rarely appeared.

Truth be told, the second season's timeline wasn't very long. From start to finish, it spanned just a few months. The first half of the story was lighthearted adventuring compared to the intense pacing of the first season.

So Yamcha left that world. His psychic training pod was close to completing its instant transmission ability. Meanwhile, Porygon2 remained in the Digital World to continue gaining access rights and complete the missions Yamcha had assigned.

Time passed quickly.

"So that's the Dark Ocean."

The story had progressed to when Hikari was summoned to that black sea—the same vision Yamcha had seen earlier.

The Dark Ocean, also known as the Sea of Dagomon, was one of the biggest unresolved mysteries of Digimon Adventure 02. It was seemingly forgotten—even the latest 02 movie, The Beginning, didn't mention it.

The same creatures that summoned Hikari, mysterious black beings resembling Scubamon, also summoned Yamcha.

The difference? They saw Hikari as a host for reproduction… but treated Yamcha like a god.

Yamcha didn't linger there. Before leaving, he took one last deep look at that black sea. In the final moments of the Dark Ocean arc, Dagomon briefly appeared.

But that wasn't the biggest revelation. Rumor had it that Leviamon, one of the Seven Great Demon Lords, slumbered deep within the sea. It was also where Ken's Holy Plan evolved into the D3 Digivice. The fact that Kimeramon—the monstrous fusion Digimon—had no issue entering the Dark Ocean and even said "You'll regret letting me in here!" showed that this sea was the most terrifying and mysterious place in the second season.

Following Porygon2's lead, Yamcha arrived before a mountain range. Before him stood a hundred Dark Towers.

These were created unconsciously by Ken. Perhaps even he didn't know why he had built so many.

But Yamcha understood.

"Porygon2, modify all these Dark Towers. Implant the data analysis from the Momotaro dumplings. Set me as the user, and upload my information as well."

Porygon2 nodded and disappeared among the countless towers.

Not long after, the Digimon Emperor was defeated. Countless Digimon were freed.

With Wormmon's sacrifice, the demon-god-like Kimeramon vanished too.

The Digital World seemed at peace, but this was only the beginning. Hidden factions started to stir.

Arukenimon and Mummymon, BelialVamdemon's proxies, reappeared—mocking Ken without mercy. Using her hair, Arukenimon activated the Dark Towers to create Digimon.

Their goal was to destroy the Holy Stones, disrupt the Four Holy Beasts, and throw the Digital World into chaos.
