Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Nineteenth Birthday

Isabella Weaver knew what Molly Cox wanted to say; she once thought having a boyfriend like Milo Field was a lucky thing.

He masked himself so well, everyone thought he was a perfect god-like figure.

But that scene she witnessed in the garage this morning made her feel sick!

Once unfaithful, never again to be used!

After Isabella packed up, she shouldered her backpack and left the dorm under Molly Cox's complicated gaze.

Lunch, class, taking notes, end of class, dinner.

Everything seemed no different from before, but in reality, everything had changed.

Seeing the young couples coming and going, intimately leaning on each other and walking hand in hand, Isabella stretched out her hand to take a look, and the long-repressed sadness finally surfaced.

Milo Field had never held her hand in public, which had bothered her for a long time, but he said it was to protect her from being abused and harassed by his crazy admirers.

Just like when male celebrities announce their relationships, their girlfriends get scolded by fans; not going public is a form of protection.

Isabella was never a capricious person; she silently accepted this reason and gradually got used to being his invisible girlfriend.

The phone in her pocket kept ringing, with Milo Field calling and messaging her repeatedly, wanting to talk.

Isabella took out her phone and directly blocked Milo Field's number.

The world quieted down, and she finally felt a bit comfortable inside.

Walking to a dessert shop on campus, Isabella hesitated for a moment but went in.

A moment later, she came out carrying a small mango cake.

This dessert shop was the most expensive on campus, but the creations were exquisitely beautiful, and the taste was surprisingly good. Isabella never felt it was worth it to buy from there, but today she didn't want to care so much.

She carried the cake to her car and got in,

She didn't turn on the lights, but under the streetlight's glow, she sat in the back seat, inserted candles into the cake, and took out a lighter to light them.

The soft candlelight illuminated Isabella's fair face, she clasped her hands together and tried to smile: "Isabella Weaver, you're nineteen now, happy birthday! Forget all the bad things, and congratulations on being single again!"

After speaking, she blew out the candles and then picked up the cake, eating it bite by bite.

The cake was sweet but not greasy, fresh and smooth, the delicious taste of mango bursting on her tongue, soothing her scarred heart.

Today was her birthday, yet no one remembered.

And she didn't seem too sad about it; she was long used to it, wasn't she?

She just didn't expect her nineteenth birthday to be such a terrible day.

Why did Gilly Scott have to choose this day?

Probably to disgust her!

Isabella shook her head, trying to shake off those disgusting images, birthdays should be happy!

After finishing the cake, she drove to the club.

She still had to continue her part-time job to pay off the car loan.

She smiled a bit bitterly throughout the drive, fearing she might be the only one like this, driving a luxury car worth over a million yuan to work a part-time job as a waitress, the club buddies would be shocked if they found out.

However, driving like this felt really good, no more struggling to pedal a bicycle, no need to fear wind and rain, a sense of happiness welled up within her!

She suddenly felt that a five-year loan was worth it!

She was so foolish to give such a good car to Milo Field as a gift while she rode a bicycle everywhere every day for work.

She should be the one driving it!
