Chapter 48 - A Small Win.

It had been three weeks since they took the company.

Three weeks since Logan Hayes stood in that police station, smug as ever, and handed him the paper that ended everything he built. Not that it was much left by then anyway. Broken chairs. Outdated computers. A dying reputation.

But still, they took it. And now William sat shirtless on a torn leather couch, the afternoon sun slashing through the blinds, his lips stained with cheap bourbon that tasted like it'd been brewed in hell. The TV buzzed low in the background. He couldn't remember the last thing he watched. He didn't care.

This was his daily routine now: drink, forget, spiral. Repeat, he would yell sometimes too. 

Lilia had left three days after the shutdown. She packed fast, took the charger, two packs of ramen, and the last good conditioner. Didn't even leave a note. Good riddance. She didn't even get to make things work. 

He had cursed her, cursed Gina, cursed the whole damn world. But today, he moved.
