Chapter 60 - CHAPTER 60

Chapter 60: Super Saiyan II

God of Destruction's World

Li Xu trudged forward in a specialized gravity suit that resembled a high-tech space suit, gripping two massive stone locks forged from Katchin alloy—the hardest material known in Universe 7. Each step was grueling, the gravity several hundred times Earth's. Behind him, the path disintegrated into nothingness, vanishing like crumbling tiles. If his pace faltered even slightly, he'd plummet into the void below.

"Urgh!"

Li Xu grit his teeth and pushed forward, veins bulging as he summoned every ounce of strength. The pit below seemed endless, radiating oppressive pressure, as if it would erase him entirely should he fall.

A short distance away, Whis sat on a levitating cushion, sipping from a cup of hot tea while sampling delicate Earth delicacies Bulma had brought. He nodded with approval, watching Li Xu's progress with a relaxed smile.

By now, it had been a year and a half since Li Xu began training in the God of Destruction's realm. This was the most brutal period of his life. Whis's training methods weren't just rigorous—they were god-level, pushing Li Xu's body and soul far beyond mortal thresholds.

But the gains had been substantial. As Whis always said, "Effort and reward maintain cosmic balance."

"Haa… Haa…"

Li Xu finally crossed the collapsing path and dropped the two Katchin locks. Still clad in the gravity suit, which didn't just multiply weight but also suppressed his ki circulation through bio-feedback dampeners, he gasped for air. The suit was designed using Capsule Corp tech but reinforced with Whis's enhancements, making it many times more taxing than Goku's standard gravity training.

He glared at Whis, who was peacefully finishing a slice of strawberry cake. A flicker of frustration crossed his face.

"I swear," Li Xu muttered, "if I ever take on a disciple, I'm going to sit on a cushion and eat while they suffer like this!"

But strength disparity snuffed out any revenge fantasies against Whis instantly. There was no beating someone who could knock you out with a flick of the wrist.

Whis chuckled as he finished his tea. "That concludes your morning training. Ah, and it seems my snacks are gone again."

With that, he vanished in a swirl of light, leaving Li Xu to reflect on his progress.

Not long after, Bulma arrived, holding two fruit smoothies chilled in a cryo-capsule. She walked up, her eyes full of concern.

"Honey, I made these for you. Why don't you rest a little?" she said softly.

"Thanks…"

Li Xu accepted the smoothie. Despite the gravity suit's restrictive weight, he moved more fluidly than before each motion demonstrating growing mastery over his suppressed ki. Resting beside Bulma, his breathing calmed, but his will to improve did not.

After a brief break, he returned to training.

Whis only personally trained him for half the day. The rest of the time was reserved for self-cultivation. As Whis often said, "Some things must be realized, not taught. True comprehension cannot be handed down."

"It's time," Li Xu murmured. "Let's try to break into Super Saiyan II."

He had spent an extended period mastering Full Power Super Saiyan the same refined form Goku and Gohan used during the Cell Games, maintaining the transformation in a calm, stable state without stamina drain.

However, Super Saiyan II demanded more.

The requirements were similar to the original transformation: a high S-cell count, catalyzed by extreme emotional stress and sufficient base power. In Gohan's case, it was triggered by Cell crushing Android 16's head and threatening his loved ones.

Li Xu's issue had been power. His base combat strength hadn't reached the threshold necessary to unlock the next level.

But now, he was ready.

He closed his eyes and whispered a hypnotic suggestion into his subconscious, creating a vivid illusion one where Bulma was in mortal danger, screaming for help.

"No… I won't let it end like this!"

His aura exploded. Lightning crackled around him. The sky above the training ground darkened.

Zzzzztt!

Golden energy surged as his transformation escalated. His muscle definition tightened instead of bulking, and electric arcs danced around his body a defining trait of Super Saiyan II.

Weak bolts of electricity crackled around Li Xu's body. His hair stood completely upright, and the golden aura enveloping him surged in intensity, growing denser and more radiant.

"What incredible power!"

Li Xu clenched his fists, his face glowing with excitement. After so much relentless training, his strength had finally made a major breakthrough.

At that very moment, Whis who was arranging the flowerbeds near Beerus's palace paused and glanced in Li Xu's direction, his expression mildly intrigued.

"A higher-level transformation? Saiyans truly are a remarkable species," Whis murmured to himself.

Over the past year, he had witnessed Li Xu's extraordinary potential firsthand. His rate of growth far exceeded Whis's expectations, even accounting for the influence of Saiyan blood and external enhancements.

"But with this new form comes increased bodily strain," Whis muttered again. "This path while powerful isn't necessarily wise for long-term stability."

Li Xu, however, was unaware of Whis's thoughts. He was focused on his next goal.

"I need to fully master Super Saiyan II… and reach a point where I can enter and exit it at will," Li Xu said quietly to himself.

After the first breakthrough, further transformations would be easier, but consistency still required rigorous training. He remembered how, in the original timeline, Son Gohan had fallen behind after the Cell Games. By the time he faced Dabra, his inability to control Super Saiyan II freely had dulled his edge.

Another six months passed.

In the God of Destruction's realm, Li Xu continued honing his combat skills under increasingly harsh conditions.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

His fists blurred in the air, moving with blinding speed too fast for a normal observer to follow. Yet, to Whis, each strike was painfully slow and predictable. Not a single blow came close to touching his robe.

"This is pointless, Whis," Li Xu finally growled, halting his assault.

Every sparring session left him frustrated. No matter how much he improved, he couldn't lay a finger on Whis. It was like fighting a phantom he had all this power and no outlet for it. What he craved was a raw, head-on fight blows exchanged directly, muscle against muscle.

"Fighting isn't just about brute strength. Victory comes from precision and control," Whis said, smiling with his usual serenity.

"This isn't even a fight. One move from you is enough to end it," Li Xu snapped, clearly agitated.

Although he had mastered Super Saiyan II and boosted his base combat strength significantly, the gap between him and Whis still felt infinite.

"Oh hoho, well, I suppose that's true," Whis chuckled, unfazed.

"Whis, tell me about the realm of gods," Li Xu asked suddenly, changing the topic. It wasn't his first time asking the subject intrigued him. But Whis had always brushed him off.

"You're still far too weak," Whis said, his tone light. "Knowing too much at this stage will only hinder you."

"Just a little hint?" Li Xu pressed, eyes gleaming with curiosity.

"The divine realm is vastly different from the mortal path," Whis finally relented, just a little. "It consists of four layers, and each step carries a colossal leap in comprehension and power."

"Then what separates these layers?" Li Xu asked quickly, eager to absorb anything Whis offered.

"Oh dear, I just remembered I forgot to finish tending the plants today. If Lord Beerus wakes up and sees them in that state, he'll be furious!" Whis said, clearly avoiding the question, and floated away with a mischievous smile.

"Ugh," Li Xu sighed. He didn't believe the excuse for a second but couldn't press the matter further.

"When I reach the divine realm myself, I'll understand," he muttered.

That was the truth. Right now, the divine realm was still far beyond him. Maybe Whis's refusal wasn't out of arrogance, but a kind of protection.

"I've trained here long enough. It's time to return."

He looked around the God of Destruction's world with a trace of reluctance. He'd lived here for two full years growing, suffering, evolving.

"I'll definitely come back to visit," he said to himself, before turning toward the portal Whis had left open for him.
