Chapter 62: Bulma Is Pregnant
In the vast darkness of Universe 6, the stars twinkled like scattered diamonds across the cosmos.
"Honey, the first Super Dragon Ball is just ahead," Bulma said, her voice calm but excited.
She wore a light blue dress that revealed her shoulders, her figure graceful as ever. Her smooth, pale fingers tapped quickly on the capsule ship's control panel.
It had been six months since Li Xu arrived in Universe 6.
Initially, Vados had taken playful revenge by transporting him and Bulma to a remote corner of the universe. Li Xu chose not to use Instant Transmission to reach their destination quickly, opting instead for the long voyage as a way to explore and grow stronger.
After a half-year journey across star systems, they had finally found their first Super Dragon Ball.
"We're one step closer to our goal," Li Xu said with a satisfied smile. Though he hadn't made a wish yet, he viewed the search as a valuable experience. Still, each discovery brought him genuine happiness.
"Ugh…"
Suddenly, Bulma covered her mouth and began to retch.
"Bulma, are you alright?" Li Xu asked, concern flashing in his eyes. Despite having eternal youth due to a wish made in the past, Bulma's biology remained that of a normal human she was still susceptible to illness and fatigue.
"Honey, I'm pregnant," Bulma said, smiling sweetly as she looked at him.
"What?" Li Xu was stunned, momentarily frozen. The news was unexpected and hit him like a shockwave.
"Do… do you not like children?" Bulma asked quietly, her smile fading slightly.
"What are you saying? Of course I do I'm just surprised, that's all," Li Xu laughed and pulled her gently into his arms. He had thought of having children eventually, but this came earlier than planned.
"How far along are you?"
"Three months," Bulma replied with a soft smile, placing her hand gently on her belly.
"You're pregnant now, so we need to put the Dragon Ball search on hold," Li Xu said, switching to a more protective tone. "We'll find a peaceful place for you to rest and raise the baby."
Although the pregnancy hadn't been planned, the thought of becoming a father thrilled him.
"Okay," Bulma nodded. "But where can we go?"
Universe 6 was still unfamiliar to them, and they had no strongholds or connections here.
Li Xu paused in thought. "Let's go to Planet Sadala the Saiyan homeworld in this universe. It's politically stable and relatively peaceful."
"You decide," Bulma said, leaning into his chest.
Planet Sadala, the original Saiyan homeworld, still existed in Universe 6. In contrast to Universe 7 where internal conflict forced the Saiyans to migrate to Planet Vegeta Universe 6's Saiyans were righteous and peace-loving, continuing to live on Sadala as guardians of justice.
"Honey, Universe 6's Saiyans look a lot like Earthlings," Bulma observed.
Unlike their Universe 7 counterparts, the Saiyans of Universe 6 lacked tails and looked nearly identical to humans in appearance.
"That's true, but don't be fooled. Their combat power is leagues above Earth's average," Li Xu chuckled. Many races across the multiverse resembled humans like Jeice of the Ginyu Force but could wield tremendous power.
"Let's go find a place to settle down," Bulma said.
After securing the fourth Super Dragon Ball, Li Xu used Instant Transmission to warp them directly to Planet Sadala. Traveling by spaceship would have taken too long, and Bulma might have gone into labor by then.
"Alright," he nodded.
The two found a tranquil and scenic area on the outskirts of a Saiyan settlement. Li Xu activated a Capsule Corp universal house capsule, quickly setting up their new home.
He handled all the setup and chores himself, not allowing Bulma to lift a finger—determined to let her rest fully during the pregnancy.
"Honey, I'm just pregnant, not bedridden," Bulma said with a smile. Still, she felt warm inside seeing how much he cared.
"You still need to be careful during the first few months," Li Xu replied. While he wasn't an expert, he knew enough to be cautious.
"Honey, do you want a son or a daughter?" Bulma asked, her tone gentle.
"A daughter," Li Xu answered without hesitation.
"I'd like a daughter too," Bulma smiled. A warm glow lit her face ever since learning she was going to be a mother, something within her had begun to change.
Time passed quietly.
After Bulma became pregnant, Li Xu devoted himself entirely to her care, even putting his cultivation on hold to spend as much time with her as possible.
"Honey, he kicked me again," Bulma said, her face glowing with happiness as she held her slightly rounded belly.
"When he's born, I'm going to teach him a good lesson for kicking his mom like that," Li Xu said half-jokingly, pretending to scowl.
"What kind of father threatens to scold his child before he's even born?" Bulma rolled her eyes and smiled dotingly at her belly.
"Bulma, you've really changed," Li Xu said with mock sadness.
"How have I changed?" Bulma raised an eyebrow, curious.
"You used to love me the most, but now you glare at me just to protect him." Li Xu pointed at her belly with exaggerated heartbreak on his face.
"Pfft!"
Bulma couldn't help laughing at his theatrics.
"You're jealous of your own baby now?" she teased.
"You're my wife you should belong to me entirely. Even our kid has to compete for your affection," Li Xu declared in a mock-dominating tone.
"Well then, I love only you," Bulma replied sweetly, leaning gently into his arms.
"That's the sixth one. Once we find the last one, we can summon Super Shenron," Li Xu murmured, shifting his gaze to the sky.
In the past few months, he had used Instant Transmission during spare moments to locate the remaining Super Dragon Balls across Universe 6. Now, only one remained—the seventh ball, which he suspected was near the border between Universe 6 and Universe 7, a region hard to access without the help of an angel.
"Vados, are you there?" Li Xu called out using telepathic communication, something Whis and Vados had shown him how to do when linked to an angel's ki.
At that moment, Vados was calmly trimming a garden of exotic flowers in her realm when Li Xu's voice echoed in her mind, prompting her to pause.
"What is it now?" she asked, her tone both curious and faintly amused.
"I've already found three of the remaining Super Dragon Balls in Universe 6. The last one must be near the dimensional boundary. I'll need your help to get there," Li Xu explained.
"Understood. Give me a moment," Vados replied.
Roughly ten minutes later, a sudden golden shimmer lit up the sky above Planet Sadala. Vados appeared out of thin air, floating gracefully with her staff in hand.
"I'll take you there now," she said calmly.
"Thank you," Li Xu said, stepping behind her.
As he placed his hands lightly on her shoulders to steady himself, Vados' eyes flickered subtly in surprise before her usual serene expression returned.
With a tap of her scepter against the ground, divine energy enveloped them both. Wrapped in a radiant column of light, the two shot forward through space-time, heading toward the thin veil that separated the twin universes.
