Chapter 79 - A Day Trip to the Police Station

"You're full of crap! My sister is clearly beautiful—are you blind or what?!"

The man raised his fist and slammed it into the back of Li Shaoquan's head, his tone vicious. It was obvious—this guy was a hardcore sis-con.

Li Qiao let out a sigh of exasperation and reassessed the scene in front of her.

Aside from the man and his sister, the other two guys standing by the coffee table hadn't moved an inch. They wouldn't even make eye contact with her. Their guilty eyes said it all.

This was the team that was supposed to pull off a kidnapping and force a marriage?

Li Qiao frowned in annoyance, arms crossed, staring down at her toes. "Aside from the marriage, any other demands?"

The man let go of Li Shaoquan and gave Li Qiao a long look. "And you are? Can you speak for him?"

"She's my freaking ancestor—of course she can!" Li Shaoquan jumped in to proclaim her authority.

Hearing that, the man puffed up with righteousness. "Good. Then here's the deal—we don't want money or anything else. Just have him marry my sister."

Perfect. A logic loop.

Li Qiao fell silent. Meanwhile, Li Shaoquan began to panic. "You've got to be kidding me! Have you even looked at your sister's face? I'd rather become a monk than marry her!"

Ouch. That one stung.

The girl in the corner looked up at him with hurt in her eyes, her fingers nervously curling on her knees.

And for the first time, Li Qiao took a good look at her.

She wasn't ugly, but she was definitely on the plump side. Her cheeks were chubby and her facial features a bit crowded.

Still, she had a pair of clear, bright eyes—pure black and white, clean and sincere.

Li Qiao frowned and glanced at Li Shaoquan again. Right now, he looked absolutely disgusted, even a little hateful.

The moment the man heard someone insult his sister like that, his face twisted with rage.

He cursed and then raised his hand swiftly, his punch cutting through the air, aimed straight at Li Shaoquan's face.

It was fast and fierce.

If that fist connected, his cheekbone would definitely be broken.

In that split second, Li Shaoquan's face was filled with horror. The girl screamed and jumped up, shouting for her brother to stop—

And then Li Qiao made her move.

She stepped forward and shoved Li Shaoquan out of the way, catching the punch mid-air.

At the same time, her other hand clamped down on the man's upper arm. Using his own force against him, she twisted her stance, turned her shoulder, and flipped him cleanly over it.

Boom. Everything froze.

The muscular man crashed to the floor with a loud thud, dazed and stunned, taking a moment to even realize what had just happened.

Li Shaoquan jumped up and shouted, "Holy shit, awesome!" If his hands weren't tied, he would've applauded right then and there.

The living room fell into dead silence—

Until a burst of chaotic footsteps came from the apartment door.

"Freeze! Police!"

Li Qiao: "…"

The guy on the floor finally came to and blinked in panic.

Shit. Who the hell called the cops?!

And just like that, Li Qiao had been inside the apartment less than ten minutes before she was escorted back out again.

Everyone got packed into police cars for what could only be described as a "one-day field trip to the station."

Inside the transport van, Li Qiao turned to Li Shaoquan, her face like ice. "You called the cops?"

He scratched his head and shook it hard. "No way! You think I've got the nerve to do that?!"

Then, the chubby girl beside him timidly raised her hand and spoke up, nervous and guilty.

"I-I did… I was afraid my brother would hurt you…"

Her brother looked like he'd just died inside and slowly knocked the back of his head against the van window.

What the hell—did I pick up the wrong sister, or did she find herself a new man already?!
