Penelope's POV
"Run!" As the hunters rushed through the cave's door, Ronan yelled.
Ronan picked up the other two babies while I held Asha closer to my chest. We had to leave everything behind to get through the back tunnel.
I heard a silver dart whistle by my ear, and it made a sharp crack in the cave wall. These weapons weren't like other weapons. They buzzed with a strange energy that made my skin crawl.
"The babies!" I let out a gasp as we stumbled into the small space.
Ronan told me, "I've got them," but his voice was rough. Carrying two babies while running for our lives wasn't easy, even for someone as strong as him.
Behind us, boots echoed off stone. Flashlight beams cut through the darkness. They were gaining on us.
"Like this," Ronan murmured, veering left at a split in the tunnel.
However, when we turned the corner, my heart dropped. The tunnel ended in a solid wall of rock. We were stuck.
"Ronan," I breathed, fear rising in my throat.
