Ronan's POV
I threw myself between Penelope and the man, my knife already in my hand. The babies were crying behind us, feeling the danger that filled the tunnel like poison.
"Stay back!" I roared at the fool claiming to be Penelope's dad.
He gave a slight laugh that made the hair on my arms stand up. "So careful. Just like your father was."
My blood turned to ice. "What did you say?"
"Oh yes, I remember Marcus quite well. Before I killed him, he was shouting your mother's name.
I could feel the knife shaking in my hands. How can this be true? Not now. When my children and I needed one another most.
"Ronan?" Her voice revealed that she was very frightened. I wonder what he is referring to.
I didn't stop watching the stranger, but my heart was breaking. I'd planned to tell her everything someday. When we were safe. When she could handle the truth about what I really was.
