Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: I Don't Care

"Does this incident have anything to do with you?" Kael's voice cut through the still-present tension in the air.

Momon didn't know why Kael was asking that, but one thing was certain: he wouldn't admit to something he didn't do. "I was only involved by chance," Momon replied, his voice deep and flawless. "This incident has nothing to do with me."

"Oh." Kael snorted indifferently, as if the question was mere formality, yet his sharp eyes didn't miss Momon's reaction.

Sometimes, a speaker's intention can be misinterpreted by the listener. Although Momon denied his involvement, Gazef Stronoff and the Black Scripture members, who vaguely overheard their conversation, looked at him with slightly different expressions. Momon was an Undead, and from the brief battle just now, his power was undeniable. Such an exotic race, masquerading as an adventurer and mingling in human cities, certainly wouldn't be easily trusted without a hidden agenda.

Concern overshadowed Gazef's thoughts. Undead were the natural enemies of all life, haters of living beings. Would Momon endanger the residents of the Re-Estize Kingdom? The Black Scripture members, in addition to being wary of the Undead, couldn't help but suspect his connection to the Great Undead Sage who had attacked them earlier. Even though Momon had acted as an ally just now, who could guarantee it wasn't part of a disguise? Perhaps all of this was part of a scheme between the two of them, to prevent Momon from stabbing them in the back as an "ally" if an unexpected situation arose.

Undead were a threat. The seed of suspicion always lingered in everyone's hearts. This wasn't hatred, but a natural wariness towards the unknown.

Regardless of the others' gazes, Momon's current attention wasn't on Gazef or the Black Scripture, but entirely on Kael. The opponent's sudden attack had severely injured Narberal Gamma, igniting anger in Momon's heart. However, he knew the current situation was unfavorable.

With thoughts swirling, Momon stepped forward. "Excuse me, my name is Ainz Ooal Gown. What is your name, sir?"

"What... Ooal Gown?" Kael frowned slightly, his eyes showing clear fluctuation.

The perceptive Momon immediately made a secret assessment. The name Ainz Ooal Gown was famous in Yggdrasil, but unfamiliar in this world. Kael's reaction, which wasn't completely surprised, proved Demiurge's speculation correct: Kael was also a Yggdrasil player. If so, perhaps they could establish cooperation, and Momon's identity as an adventurer could be maintained.

"My name is Kael." Kael's expression returned to normal in an instant, as if the answer was just a formality.

Momon was slightly surprised by Kael's self-control, but he didn't say much. He nodded politely. "Lord Kael, I believe the previous conflict was merely a misunderstanding. We can overlook this inconvenience..."

"Lord Momon!?" Narberal, standing beside him, was surprised and confused by Momon's words. She wasn't angry because she was attacked, but because Momon was injured. Daring to attack a Supreme Being was a serious crime that should be paid with death. How could Momon just let it go?

"Narberal, don't interrupt me." Momon turned, his gaze implying a command for Narberal to be silent.

Narberal immediately realized her presumption. "My apologies! Master Momon, I was too rash." Her voice was filled with regret.

"No problem." Momon reassured her, then turned his gaze back to Kael.

"Sir, there are no conflicting interests between us. Perhaps we could be friends. What do you think?"

As those words were spoken, Gazef and the Black Scripture Team stared at Kael. They didn't know what Momon was talking about, but his attitude towards Kael was clearly different; there was a hint of familiarity in his tone. Was there a connection between the two of them?

"I'm not interested in being friends with Undead or monsters," Kael bluntly refused, his tone cold and arrogant. "Is that all you wanted to say?"

Kael's attitude not only dispelled the suspicions of the surrounding groups but also made Narberal, beside Momon, radiate an expression of anger and disgust. However, due to Momon's earlier warning, she didn't interrupt, only glaring sharply at Kael.

"..." Momon fell silent for a moment, his eye sockets flickering with a faint red light. His tone immediately hardened. "It seems we are indeed destined to be enemies."

"I don't mind."

As if a signal for war, Kael immediately ordered the Celestial Jupiter Cherubim of Judgment to attack Momon and his companion.

The Holy Sword of Judgment immediately gathered holy light. Wielded by the Archangel of Judgment of Celestial Jupiter, the sword unleashed a strike of judgment! This wasn't a regular long-range attack. After the skill [Sword of Judgment] was activated, Momon and Narberal clearly felt themselves locked by a special power. The next second, a sword energy appeared directly in front of them and slashed horizontally!

"Ugh!" Both groaned in unison, their HP drastically reduced, but they immediately launched a counterattack against Kael.

"[Maximize Magic]: [Gravity Vortex]!"

"[Empowered Magic]: [Destructive Lightning Strike]!"

A black orb that could inflict significant damage on Level 100 enemies and an eighth-tier lightning magic attacked simultaneously, but Kael remained calm. The Light King Knight raised his cross-shaped shield, glowing with holy light, stepped forward, and activated his skill [Ideal Shield], forming a solid energy barrier. The black orb and lightning bombarded the barrier. Although they managed to destroy it, their power was also completely neutralized.

"You can use long-range attacks to interfere with the situation, but don't advance. Be careful to avoid the enemy's magic," Kael casually told Enri Emmot and the others, then led his three summoned creatures to face Momon and Narberal.

The Light King Knight moved first, charging like a tank with his cross-shaped shield overhead. The Holy Sword of Judgment from the Cherubim of Judgment flared with fire, swinging flying sword energy towards Momon. The Cherubim of Sacrifice took no action, simply following closely behind the Light King Knight.

As for Kael himself...

[High-Tier Collective Ability Boost]!

[Heaven's Breath]!

[Holy Light Power]!

Various enhancement spells were activated one by one. Not only Kael, but his three summoned creatures also glowed with magical lights of various colors. Momon was no stranger to this. He knew that reliable magic users and healers, even if not specialized as support types, would have many group enhancement spells.
