Chapter 25 - Back to Heavenly Wood City(2)

"Thank you, Grandfather. Don't worry, I will take good care of it," Alvin replied to Magnus seriously.

Magnus rolled his eyes. "From the information I gathered on you, it says your intellect is that of a six-year-old boy. But after interacting with you so far, you seem way sharper compared to the kids of your age."

Alvin chuckled lightly. After all, he couldn't just tell Magnus that the one he was talking about was the real Alvin and not himself.

Alvin suddenly thought of something and said, "One more thing. Alice had a mount called Lilly. She is a golden-crowned eagle with an extremely pure lineage. She might be with Alice's child now. Take her along with you."

Magnus nodded lightly. "By the way, we already reached Heavenly Wood City. Are you sure you are not coming with us to pick up your niece?"

Alvin shook his head. "Nah, there is an inn at the city gate. Just drop me there. I have to take a proper nap. My body is feeling so tired that I can't even sense my master-level cultivation anymore."

Magnus sighed softly. "That's not because you are tired. Both you and Jane really lost your cultivation entirely when Julian forcefully tore your spirits apart. If not for me using the Rebirth Nectar to mend your sea of consciousness and meridians, both of you might have either died or become handicapped for life."

Alvin frowned when he heard what Magnus said. He thought about it and said, "It seems that old man is really after me?"

"Oh, why do you think so?" Magnus asked curiously.

"If the people who came to take my life after I killed all those beggars are really his subordinates, then surely he knows something more about that incident that even I am not aware of. If my intuition is correct..." Alvin paused and stared into Magnus's eyes, "his intention in the first place was to kill me in the name of separating our spirits. This way, you will not suspect him, since his granddaughter would also die during the process along with me."

Magnus frowned. "Is it that serious?"

Alvin shook his head. "I don't know, but there is definitely something fishy with that old man. He is clearly afraid of you from the way he behaved, but he still took the risk of attempting an assassination on me."

"On top of that, he figured out I am not Alin the instant he saw me and accurately linked my face to my old self. Even I might take a moment to recognize a photo of myself from eight years ago, but this old man did it so easily..."

Magnus scratched his beard with an annoyed expression on his face. "Should I leave some of my guards with you for your protection?"

Alvin waved his hand dismissively. "No need. If I am really that easy to kill, I would not have survived till now. For the time being, I will just disguise myself and live a low-key life for some time."

Magnus nodded. "That's good, that's good... By the way, don't use your bloodline technique randomly all the time. It will damage your body to an irreversible stage if your injuries keep piling up like before."

Alvin's mouth twitched. "Do you think I am a masochist? Even if you ask me, I won't do it one more time. That pain really made me see hell."

Magnus looked at Alvin strangely. "Anyway, if you don't want to spoil your own body, exit the activated state of your bloodline once you feel your body can't handle it anymore."

"Sure," Alvin stood up from the couch. "Well, it's farewell then. If fate ever wills, we will meet again."

Magnus nodded with a sigh. "Don't forget to call me if you ever need anything. Inside your storage ring, I have kept a mobile phone with my number saved on it. You can also contact the name saved as Jasmine in your contacts if you ever need any help."

"Is she also in Heavenly Wood City?" Alvin asked in confusion.

Magnus shook his head. "Not at the moment, but she will be here in at most a week's time."

Alvin's mouth twitched. "A butler or a bodyguard?"

Magnus smiled lightly. "You will know when you see her. Now get ready, I am going to teleport you outside."

Alvin took a deep breath and nodded.

"Beep"

Suddenly, a light circle appeared below Alvin's feet, and in the next second, he vanished from where he stood.

Outside, at a remote side of the city gate, a gray light shone from the sky, and Alvin's figure materialized as though he was standing there for a long time.

"Damn, that's some superb teleporting mechanism," Alvin mumbled to himself as he looked around him. This was the first time Alvin had seen such a feature in an aircraft.

Looking around, he saw an enormous city wall standing tall before him. There were also many carts pulled by magical beasts waiting at the entrance of the gate for permission to enter the city.

Guards could be seen checking the goods in the carriages before allowing people inside.

Alvin hurriedly checked inside his storage ring to see if there was any money inside. "Tsk... That old man only gave me beast cores and some wild plants. There is not even a single essence coin inside," Alvin said with a sigh.

Inside the storage ring, there was a large pile of beast cores of the Ascension Realm and Master Realm, along with several heaps of medicinal plants piled up like small mountains. The entire storage space, which was around the size of a volleyball court, was filled with these kinds of things.

The only exception was the pitch-black sacrificial altar at the center. This was the place Magnus had instructed Alvin to fill with darkness-attributed magical cores if he ever needed to use his bloodline by bypassing the suppression of his forearm guard.

Alvin pondered for a moment and took out a blue beast core with ten dark blue rings drawn around it from the pile which contained water-attributed beast cores and approached one of the beast carts pulled by an Earth Armored Buffalo, which was waiting to be inspected before entering the city.

"Big brother, can I exchange this beast core for some essence coins?" Alvin asked the middle-aged man inside the cart, who looked like a typical fat merchant.

"A tenth-level, water element beast core. What realm is it?" the middle-aged man asked with a smile as he sized up the core in Alvin's hand.

"Here, you can check it yourself. It is of the Master Realm," Alvin gave the core to the man.

The man took the core from Alvin's hand and, after sensing the energy inside, he nodded. "Mm, the core is intact. I can offer the base price of ten Master Realm essence coins for it."

Alvin thought about it and nodded. "Okay, you can have it."

The money used in Celestia is called essence coins. It is made by purifying the energy inside beast cores to their purest form possible. This energy will be attribute-less and can be used by any magician or warrior without worrying about what element or attribute they want to improve.

Apart from this, there are also copper, silver, and gold coins, which are circulated among common people who are not cultivators. They follow the ratio of one to ten rule for exchange, where ten copper coins are worth one silver coin, ten silver coins are worth one gold coin, and ten gold coins are equal to one Ascension Realm essence coin. This rule continues as the realm increases.
