Chapter 6 - Shoot the God of Thunder

When the System told him he could get everything with System Coins, it wasn't lying.

There were conversions to different currencies, something he would surely use when he left this place.

In the System, there were healing and poisonous potions, weapons, weapon upgrades, battle techniques, and a whole lot more.

"I can even buy Stat Point Packs." He was in shock.

There were 10-point and 100-point packs available right now.

However, they were too expensive.

The 10-point packs were "affordable," but they still cost hundreds of thousands, while the 100-point packs were already in the millions.

"No good. Too expensive," he complained, although he understood why they were so expensive.

He also found skills, training rooms, mansions, castles... Everything could be useful in the future.

He could practically buy everything, but somehow everything was centralized in the Armamentalists.

Among many other things, he was attracted to the Weapon Upgrades.

There are several levels to improve weapons: 20%, 50%, 60%, 90%, and 100%.

They seem to improve quality and durability, boost accuracy, and possibly grant them an attribute.

There was also an example with his weapon.

If he purchased the 50% upgrade or higher, he had the chance to obtain a magical attribute for the weapon randomly.

And according to the explanation of the 100% upgrade, he can choose between two attributes that the weapon can have.

'It's like an RPG game,' he thought.

The similarities reminded him of several RPGs he had played, so he felt like a child exploring a new place.

It was so beautiful that he couldn't take his eyes off it. But he was startled and jumped aside, sensing a presence near him.

He quickly aimed his weapon.

"London Lockward," he said, his voice hollow, deep, and angry.

His father was standing by the window, looking at him mockingly.

"You don't call me father anymore?"

"Heh. You're not worthy of hearing those words from my mouth."

"Oh." His response took aback London. Seconds later, he shrugged and looked at the weapon in Louis's hand.

"An Armamentalist with Lockward blood, eh?" He sneered. "It's the first time I've seen such a thing. It seems you've forgotten that our Clan does not accept firearms. They are useless."

Louis frowned and looked at his weapon.

It would likely be the weapon he would use for the rest of his life, for it was of the highest quality and made from amazing materials.

He didn't like it being looked down on, especially since it was so beautiful.

Suddenly, he felt an intense urge to shoot his father. He wanted to make him pay for everything he had put him through today.

But that would only lead to his death. So he resisted the urge...

[Ding]

[New mission]

[Shoot the God of Thunder]

| Mission requirements: Shoot the God of Thunder once.

| Previous reward: 100 System Coins.

| New reward: 1,000 System Coins.

| Failing the mission results in 2 penalties: The System will not award the reward, and you will incur 1 Negative Karma Point.

[Good luck, try not to die]

Louis was in shock.

'Has the System gone crazy?'

Did the System want him dead? Shoot the most powerful God?

It clicked in his mind. He realized it had been his mistake.

'I see. So, when it says I'll create missions, it means they'll be based on my desires and feelings.' His face fell visibly.

That was very dangerous.

He realized he had to control his thoughts when he was in front of people he couldn't offend.

Now the question was whether he would complete this mission or not...

He didn't need to think about it much when he saw the reward.

'A thousand coins? Isn't that 100 stat points right off the bat? Of course I'll do it!'

But he needed an excuse.

He smiled and looked at his father. The color returned to his face.

"You already kicked me out, you have nothing to complain about. But if you think my weapon is useless, do you dare to try it?" His boldness made London stare at him in amazement.

He found this amusing, so he curled his lips into a smile.

"Fine." He nodded and opened his arms.

"Shoot as much as you want. If you manage to penetrate even 10 millimeters of my natural barrier, I will issue an order, swallowing my pride, to allow you to use the Clan's surname. Go ahead, if you do, I will restore your dignity."

Louis smiled.

This would be an impossible mission, but he didn't care.

"I don't want to return to your clan, so save your words." He spoke. He gripped his gun and his finger on the trigger, prepared to fire. "The day I return, your head will be at my feet."

His finger on the silver trigger seemed to tremble. He didn't want to pull it. His body refused to react, torn by the conflicting feelings of having to shoot his father.

'Shoot!' he roared in his mind, ordering his body to act.

The ability was then activated, demanding passive energy from within him until the bullet was filled.

Then...

BAM*

The sound of the shot was soft and elegant, but powerful.

A golden bullet shot out at high speed toward London's head. It seemed to be surrounded by magical elements such as fire.

Although London saw it as so slow that it made no sense to even look at it, he allowed it to approach.

Then the bullet reached its natural barrier. Strange rays of energy moved imperceptibly and irregularly, protecting him.

Despite its firing power, it disintegrated as soon as it reached the vicinity, when a ray pierced it. Small fluorescent particles remained in the air like a small flash of light that lasted for two seconds.

London frowned.

'Great power and permanence.'

The firing power was extremely low, but the rays of his protective barrier did not erase the remnants of the bullet. He had never seen that at such a low power level.

Louis seemed to sigh. He didn't notice anything that his father had seen. He simply closed his eyes at the system's announcement that he had completed the mission and then opened them again.

There were more than 100 stat points in front of him.

If he used them all, maybe he could break through that barrier for the distance his father had said was needed to be accepted back into the Clan.

But his pride wouldn't let him.

'Add 10 points to strength.'

When the points were added, he took a deep breath and aimed at his father again.

He wanted to be more accurate this time, as the power would increase.

After a brief moment of hesitation, he pulled the trigger, and the gun fired again.

This time, it was stronger. The bullet approached the barrier more quickly, but a bolt of lightning once again destroyed it.

Louis grimaced in frustration.

'The difference is too great.' He shook his head and sighed.

But London was surprised.

'It was several times more powerful than before,' he thought. 'What's going on?'

But when he reacted, Louis had already turned away.

He put his gun back in its case and grabbed a bearskin coat resting on a wooden pedestal.

Then he walked to the door.

"Now you're kicking me out, now I'm leaving," he said. "But wherever I go, my Class will accompany me."

"In the future, I hope you don't regret your decision today."

"Because then, I hope you'll be worthy of a shot from my gun."

"Good luck in your life, Father."

The pauses at key moments gave his words a melancholy, ironic, and painful tone. But they were loaded with a promise of revenge.

At the same time, a strange, sententious mockery and a feeling of loneliness surrounded his body.
