A few days passed since Jonah learned Fire Resistance.
During that time, master repeatedly sent us to the second and third floor.
Thanks to those trips, Jonah, Shanny, and Trudy had levelled up to level 5. While Cecily up to level 4.

We had gone to a few trials already, but I could not gain enough experience points. Though I was almost there.
It did not seem master was intending to use synthesis too.
The newcomers managed to make themselves looked busy in front of master whenever they were watching, causing them to avoid synthesis.
Of course, there were some people who actually worked hard as well as the people in Party 1. But they were not abundant.
Ignoring my slow progress, we managed to get everyone in our party to learn the Fire Resistance skill.
Shanny and Trudy were eager to obtain the skill once Jonah acquired it.
On the other hand, Cecily was frightened to burn herself.
She had to resort to Shanny forcing herself to do it.
It was difficult, but the hunter managed to learn it in the end.

The fairy summoned us for the day.
"Do you think we'll climb the next floor this time?"
Jonah asked me.
"Possibly. We had gone to the second and third floor often enough that they no longer posed much threat to us."
[Open the rift of space and time!]
Our party proceeded to enter the mirrored room and readied our fighting stances.

"Time to put your fire resistance to the test?"
I spoke to my party.
For the past couple of days, I had not been using my fire magic.
I was waiting until everyone learned the Fire Resistance skill first.
Now that they had, I could finally use it again.
My party only nodded and smiled upon my inquiry.
We were soon engulfed in bright light.
Once the light dissipated, instead of the usual grass plain, we found ourselves standing in a clearing in the middle of a forest.
Standing on the opposite side of us, by the tree line, were our enemies.
Three leather-armored goblins. Two armed with machetes and shields. And the final one with a crossbow.
Beside them were two wolves, similar to the ones we encountered on the second floor.
However, they were not the only ones we had to face.
A pair of hideous creatures were flying behind the goblins and the wolves.
Winged monsters with the lower half of a bird and upper half of a woman's torso.
Harpies. They had joined our list of enemies.

The mission window soon appeared in front of us.

[Objective – Annihilate the enemies!]
With the objective of the mission presented to us, I addressed my comrades.
"Jonah, Shanny, take care of the goblins and the wolves. Cecily, take out the goblin with the crossbow. Trudy, stay with us and ward off the harpies coming our way. I'll kill the harpies with my fire magic."
"Understood!"
Jonah and Shanny sprinted off toward the monsters. They soon engaged with the goblins and wolves charging our way.
The goblin with the crossbow tried to shoot at us but Trudy intercepted the bolt with her shield.
Cecily nocked her arrow and shot the crossbow goblin in the shoulder.
Having been injured, the monster continued to move around, making it harder for Cecily to aim.
The two harpies began their charge. They quickly flew at us, but Trudy blocked their way and swung her sword around, preventing them to advance.
I used this opportunity to cast my spell.
[Maha Agni]
A ball of flame manifested in front of my palms and it burst forward like blazing meteor.
Sensing my assault, Trudy jumped out of the way.
The two harpies were immediately scorched by the fierce blaze, leaving nothing but their ash black corpses.
I swung my palm to the side and caused the blaze to turn toward the crossbow goblin in the back.
With its shoulder injured, the monster could not move very well and ended up being devoured within the deadly flames.
I noticed that Trudy and Cecily got burned after I casted my fire magic. But they were not writhing in pain and remained composed and cautious.
The Fire Resistance skill was working.
Meanwhile, Jonah and Shanny were still fierce in battle.
A wolf tried to charge at Shanny, but she twisted her body and smacked the beast aside with her shield.
A goblin attempted to make use of the opening to strike her with its machete, but Shanny had anticipated it and leaped backward.
She quickly propelled herself forward again and slashed through the goblin's neck.
Having left with one single opponent, Shanny charged toward the wolf, pinned the creature to the ground with her shield and gutted the canine with her sword.
On the other side of the field, a goblin and a wolf tried to pounce on Jonah at the same time.
But no matter how intimidating their assault looked like, Jonah saw it coming and calmly avoided them.
The two monsters quickly rearranged their positions and decided on a pincer attack, trying to attack him from two opposite directions.
However, Jonah figured out the strategy immediately and agilely leaped out of their attack course, causing the two monsters to crash on each other.
With his two opponents off balanced, Jonah pointed his spear toward them and pulled his arm backward.
Swoosh.
The shepherd jerked his arm forward and launched his spear to the air like a javelin.
The sharp-tipped pole impaled both the goblin and the wolf right in the head at once, killing them instantly.
Right at that moment, the mission window appeared in front of us.
