Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Hope of Senju

Tsunade's palm remained pressed gently over Gojo's chest, her brows furrowed with concentration.

Her chakra flowed through him with ease, tracing the pathways of his meridians and chakra coils.

She had expected something unusual, but what she found made her breath catch in her throat.

"Jounin-level chakra reserves…?" she muttered in disbelief.

Even by prodigy standards, this was monstrous.

But what truly made her hands tremble slightly was the vitality she could feel coursing through Gojo's body.

His cells were brimming with power—regenerating, restoring, responding with an unnatural resilience.

It wasn't just prodigious—it was terrifying.

Her eyes widened further as she sensed the deep, slumbering force beneath the surface.

"This…" she whispered. "This is no ordinary vitality. This is…"

She withdrew her hand slowly, eyes still fixed on the young boy who blinked back at her, confused and unsure of why Tsunade—one of the strongest women in the world—was looking at him as if he were a miracle.

Tsunade sat back on her knees, exhaling deeply, a rare smile spreading across her lips. "Gojo… You've inherited it.

The Sage Body. There's no doubt now."

"S-Sage Body?" Gojo tilted his head and oretended, still trying to process what had just happened.

Tsunade leaned forward suddenly and, without a word, pinched his cheeks hard, stretching them out with a grin.

"Ow! Ow—Tsunade-neesan! What are you doing?"

She chuckled, clearly amused. "Your dumbfounded look is priceless. You're too cute for your own good."

Gojo huffed, rubbing his cheek once she let go, cheeks slightly red from the attention. But Tsunade wasn't done.

"Listen," she said, her voice firm and serious again. "That regeneration I saw? The vitality in your body? That's proof.

You may very well unlock Wood Release in its purest form… just like my grandfather."

Gojo's eyes widened and he thought that he still did not unlock the Woid release.

Wood Release. The legendary kekkei genkai of Hashirama Senju.

That power alone made the First Hokage a legend feared across all nations.

"From now on," Tsunade declared, placing her hands on her hips. "I'll be your teacher and your guardian.

You're not just a kid anymore, Gojo.

You're the future of the Senju clan."

A proud grin tugged at her lips as she raised her fist. "It's your turn now… to bring back the glory of the Senju."

Gojo stared at her, then slowly nodded.

"Okay… sister Tsunade."

Tsunade froze for a second, then gave him a flat look. "Just call me aunt. I'm not that young, brat."

Gojo chuckled nervously. "Okay, Aunt Tsunade."

She smiled and reached out to pat his head again, her fingers lingering there longer than she realized. "Good boy."

Just then, Shizune's voice called from the hallway.

"Dinner's ready!"

---

The aroma of grilled fish, steamed vegetables, and rice filled the house.

Gojo sat cross-legged at the table, flanked by Tsunade and Shizune.

He hadn't eaten such a warm family meal in a while, and it showed in the way he beamed with every bite.

Tsunade, however, had other things on her mind.

Between mouthfuls, she said, "Gojo.

If you ever feel like someone's watching you, especially around the village—tell me immediately."

Gojo nodded slightly. "You think someone will?"

Tsunade's smile faded. "Let's just say… Konoha has its shadows.

And one of them—Shimura Danzo—is particularly dangerous."

Gojo narrowed his eyes.

Of course he knew Danzo. The so-called "darkness of the ninja world." That old fossil who'd do anything for his twisted version of peace.

If anyone would target him for his bloodline, chakra, or lineage, it'd be that man.

"I'll be careful," Gojo promised.

Tsunade nodded in approval, then suddenly leaned back with a mischievous smirk.

"And by the way… we'll also have to start finding you a lot of wives."

"PFFT—!"

Gojo coughed violently, spraying water all over the table—and right onto Shizune's face.

Shizune gasped as droplets rolled down her cheeks, blinking in stunned silence as the room froze for a moment.

Gojo bowed quickly, flustered. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!"

Shizune wiped her face with a napkin, sighing deeply.

"It's okay… but seriously, Lady Tsunade, isn't that a bit much?

He's only six…"

Tsunade shrugged, sipping her sake with zero shame.

"Love should start young, Shizune. And this brat is the sole heir of the Senju.

He needs strong descendants to carry our bloodline.

Many wives, many babies—that's the Senju way now."

Shizune groaned.

Gojo slumped in his seat, his face flushed red.

"I just started the academy, and now I have to worry about wives…?"

"Exactly!" Tsunade grinned. "We'll start scouting soon.

Konoha's filled with promising girls, and you're already charming enough to make them swoon."

Gojo turned to Shizune for help, but she just shook her head with a helpless smile.

"You're on your own, kid."

Tsunade, meanwhile, had launched into a full-blown speech, talking animatedly about the lost glory of the Senju clan—the great achievements of Hashirama, the strength of Tobirama, and the decline that followed.

"But now," she said proudly, reaching across the table to point at Gojo, "we have a new hope.

And he's sitting right here!"

Gojo raised his chopsticks weakly. "Hooray…"

Tsunade kept talking, lost in her own excitement, eyes sparkling with pride and dreams of rebuilding her clan through this young boy.

Gojo and Shizune glanced at each other across the table, both letting out a long sigh in unison.

As Gojo reached for another rice ball, a familiar ding echoed in his ears.
