It's all or nothing!
He first channeled all his internal energy into mana. Without external energy to physically transform his body, the system created by 'd' began drawing ambient energy to aid his evolution.
Ryu Takeno gambled correctly.
He greedily absorbed the energy the system provided, refining it into mana, strengthening his body, expelling impurities. His body grew longer, evolving into a higher life form.
His hundred-meter-long body unknowingly grew to a kilometer.
Ryu Takeno greedily absorbed the energy, completely unsatisfied. He didn't know when he'd get another chance like this.
In the original story, the Elroe Overlord Serpent was the final evolution of his species.
This meant he wouldn't have another chance to evolve.
One chance, so he'd take full advantage!
Mana steadily accumulated; Ryu Takeno's power continuously increased—five years, ten years, a hundred years… until he felt he was about to burst.
He began compressing his mana, preparing to condense his core.
"So slow~ Did my evolution take this long too?" Kumoko lay in her newly built home, idly playing with a spider silk yo-yo.
Fifteen days had passed since Ryu Takeno entered the magma.
In the Elroe Great Labyrinth, there was no day and night; the upper layer was perpetually dark, while the middle layer, a sea of magma, was constantly illuminated.
Kumoko didn't know how much time had passed; it felt like a long time, long enough for her to acquire Heat Resistance.
With this skill, she no longer worried about her silk spontaneously combusting from the heat. Of course, it only provided heat resistance; higher temperatures would still ignite it.
The surrounding monsters had been wiped out by their previous systematic hunt. The monster siege she'd imagined, where she'd bravely protect Takeno-kun, hadn't happened.
This disappointed her.
Kumoko wished some monsters would appear, allowing her to show off in front of Ryu Takeno.
"So boring~ I'll train."
Kumoko put down her spider silk yo-yo, preparing to train, when a loud boom echoed.
Boom——
"What's wrong? What's wrong?"
Kumoko rushed outside; the magma pool erupted, a massive snake head emerging, exuding immense pressure.
(⊙?⊙)
Kumoko's mouth dropped open; she stood there dumbfounded.
Is that Takeno-kun? Isn't he a bit too big?
Her danger sense didn't alert her; the giant snake's eyes showed no killing intent. Though its head was ten times larger, and its appearance slightly different, Kumoko instantly recognized Ryu Takeno.
Before Kumoko's astonished eyes, the giant snake slowly shrunk, from a kilometer to ten meters.
"You've worked hard, Shiro."
The red giant snake was Ryu Takeno, achieving a significant power-up.
He'd successfully leveraged the system's energy to enhance his abilities, gaining power equivalent to centuries of training.
Strictly speaking, it wasn't entirely free; he was essentially paying the evil god an entrance fee.
Does watching a show not require an entrance fee?
"Eh————?! Takeno-kun, how did you do it? How did you shrink from that size? Tell me, it's amazing!" Kumoko, recovering, looked at the smaller Ryu Takeno with astonishment, climbing all over him, repeatedly asking for the secret to his size change.
"Bloodline Awakening."
"Bloodline Awakening?"
Kumoko was completely confused.
In her understanding, a bloodline awakening was a sudden surge of power, a dramatic increase in abilities tied to one's heritage.
"That's right. My Shokuryu bloodline awakened."
