Chapter 27 - A Call from an Unknown Number

Alan Caldwell still couldn't believe what he was witnessing. An influential figure like Victor White had turned tail and fled, all because Noah had provoked him about his son.

A faint smile spread across his face as Alan glanced at Noah standing by the large glass window. He felt truly impressed with Noah.

Then, Alan turned his attention to Jason Sullivan, seated comfortably across from him.

Alan Caldwell was equally amazed to see Jason and Noah, who constantly surprised him with their identities and actions.

He just learned that Jason Sullivan—a former Navy SEAL in the country—was actually Noah's bodyguard.

Alan Caldwell whispered, leaning in slightly. "Jason, did you know Noah knew Victor White's son?" He lowered his voice to ensure Noah wasn't catching on to their conversation.

Jason nodded slowly. "Mm... I know." He had only learned about it on their way to this place. At that time, he had the same shocked reaction as Alan Caldwell.

What makes Jason even more shocked is knowing that all this time, Ryan White constantly bullied Noah, and he endured it just to protect his identity.

"I think yesterday, Ryan White was the one who caused chaos in our office?" Alan asked.

Alan's question prompted Jason to look over at him. "That's what I heard from him, too," he responds.

...

As Jason and Alan Caldwell chatted about him, Noah stood by the glass window, lost in thought.

He needed to create a plan to ensure that the company could operate smoothly, free from the interference of individuals like Victor White.

After some time, he pulled out his cell phone and made a call.

"Matthew, I need your help!"

"Sir? Are you in trouble? Where are you now?"

Matthew's panicked voice echoed in Noah's ears, causing him to smile slightly as he remembered Edgar's response from a few days ago.

'Why do they both seem similar?' Noah wondered with a smile on his face.

"I'm fine, Matthew!"

Noah responded and started to voice his plan. He needed Matthew to place a few people to guard the company from individuals like Victor White.

"Certainly, sir! I will ensure the right people are in place to care for everything. You can relax and not worry about the company at all!"

Matthew's comforting words really helped to ease Noah's stress. Now, he could leave the city without much thought of Caldwell Construction and the people he considered close friends and family.

"Is there anything else you need me to handle, sir?"

"Yes, please make sure Victor White cannot help his son escape from his crime," Noah instructed.

"Got it, sir." Matthew's voice came through with a tone of confidence. "By the way, why didn't you choose to punish Victor White with your system?" he asked casually.

Noah rubbed his forehead, recalling that his system did not show a revenge ledger. It seemed that his calm response to Victor White earlier could not prompt his system to issue revenge against him.

He finds it amusing that he can't get extra pocket money from Victor White.

"Maybe because I don't express enough anger when I talk to him. That's why he escaped!" Noah said, laughing.

"You are too kind, sir. Be ruthless when facing Victor White..."

"Well, this time, I agree with you, Matthew. I'll keep that in mind if I face someone like Victor again." Noah feels a bit regretful because he feels he's not gaining anything.

Noah spoke with Matthew for a few more minutes to address some matters before finally ending the call.

When Noah rejoined Jason and Alan, they both turned to him, curious about his next plan.

Alan was worried about the company's situation, as Noah had just provoked Victor White. "Noah, what if Victor White returns?" he asked with concern.

"Uncle Alan, don't worry. He won't return. A few members of my security team will be in this office to prevent anyone from causing a scene," Noah explained.

"I'm glad to hear that, Noah. I'll provide their office..." Alan replied with relief.

"That's perfect!" Noah briefly answered.

After a few more minutes of talking with Alan Caldwell, Noah finally said goodbye to him.

"Uncle, I won't be back here for now since I will soon leave the city. However, if you encounter any issues at the office or with the company project, please inform me as soon as you can."

"Sure!"

...

On the way to the apartment, Noah received a call from an unknown number.

However, the call ended before he could answer the phone, and a text message came in.

"Hello, Mr. Noah Morgan. I'm Karina, your sister's teacher. I hope you're doing well. I want to talk to you about Alicia. Please return my call. Thank you." From: Karina

Noah's heart raced with tension.

This was the first time his sister Alicia's teacher wished to speak with him.

'Is Alice in trouble?' he wondered as he dialed Karina's number.

On the first ring, the call connected instantly, and a woman's voice on the other end greeted him courteously.

"Mr. Noah Morgan, could we have a meeting? I need to discuss your sister, Alicia."

"Ms. Karina, I want to meet you now, but I'm in the city. Driving there takes three hours. Can we talk on the phone? If not, I'll be there tomorrow."

Karina paused as if she were deep in thought before answering.

"Mr. Morgan, you don't need to come here, but I need you to talk to Alicia about the form I gave her, which she hasn't returned yet. Please tell her not to ignore this opportunity."

Karina's explanation made Noah even more puzzled. He was so busy working to support his mother and sister that he didn't have time to focus on his sister's education.

"Could you tell me the purpose of the form?" Noah asked.

"Your sister received a scholarship in the capital, but she chose not to accept it because she didn't want to burden the family."

Noah tightly gripped his cell phone upon hearing this. He could understand why his sister was reluctant to accept the opportunity, remembering their miserable life.

This is one reason he can't leave the city right away; he still has Alicia and his mother. He needs to wait until his sister graduates so they can move to the capital.

With money and influence on his side, he won't allow his sister's dream to fade away.

"Ms. Karina, I will speak with her. When is the deadline to submit the form?"

"The day after tomorrow..."
