Loki wasn't idle; he continued his daily training, even with the system. His first day teaching went well; Gon and Killua improved daily. Loki also continued his training.
After training, Gon and Killua left. After showering, Loki calculated that, given Gon and Killua's progress, he'd finish his mission in a few months. He should start his next mission: ten consecutive wins on floor 200.
Ten consecutive wins weren't easy. After ten wins, he could challenge the floor master. The floor master might not be exceptionally strong, but they'd be tough. They'd worked hard for years to get that position and wouldn't easily give it up. Loki expected various underhanded tactics.
Loki was drinking coffee when his room phone rang.
"Hello!"
"Mr. Loki, this is the Heaven Arena. Your match is tomorrow afternoon. Please be prepared; absence is considered a forfeit."
"I understand," Loki replied. He hadn't expected the match to be scheduled so soon. It was probably the New Hunter Hunters targeting newcomers. He wasn't worried.
The next morning, Gon and Killua weren't there. Loki found it strange; they should be eager to improve. He saw the match schedule:
Match 1: Gon vs. Gidō
Match 2: Killua vs. Sadaso
Match 3: Loki vs. Riehlvelt
Loki was surprised Gon and Killua were competing and targeted by the New Hunter Hunters—one for each of them.
As Loki looked at the schedule, the New Hunter Hunters appeared.
"Newcomers are idiots, even if they know Nen," one said.
"They're lucky they know Nen. Otherwise, they'd experience the floor 200 welcome ceremony," another said.
Riehlvelt, in a motorized wheelchair, approached Loki. "Kid, you're unlucky. You met me. I'll show you floor 200's hospitality."
They laughed and left. Loki ignored them. He was more interested in Killua competing. Gon, having just learned Nen, was eager to compete, as in the original story. Killua also competing was interesting. It was a small change, but Loki's actions were changing things. This world was real, not just a plot.
Loki smiled and went to watch Gon's match.
Gon and Killua were in the waiting room.
"Killua, do you think Loki will find out we're competing?" Gon worried. Loki was their teacher, and they were disobeying him.
Killua was eating a lollipop. "What's to fear? He's just teaching us Nen. I didn't call him Master. So what if he finds out?"
"But…"
"There's no 'but.' It's your turn."
Floor 200 matches had many spectators. Loki watched Gon and Gidō. He wanted to see if Gon's fight differed from the original. He was disappointed.
Gon was immediately overpowered. Gidō pummeled him. Their skill levels were vastly different. Gon had just awakened Nen, trained for only a day. Even though Gidō was a weak Nen user, he was far stronger than Gon. Gidō's victory was certain.
Gon used Zetsu to evade, but was severely injured. Releasing Nen against a Nen user was foolish.
Killua's match was next. Sadaso, a green-haired masked man, used invisible Nen-powered left hands to attack. Killua was stronger than Gon, but he lost quickly, though his injuries were minor. Gon would need a month to recover.
After their matches, Loki didn't seek them out but prepared for his own match. Killua could move freely, but Gon needed bed rest. They were wondering how to face Loki when they saw Loki on TV.
"Loki's competing!" Gon said, his face swollen and bandaged.
"Let's see how strong he really is," Killua said. After fighting Nen users, they understood their own strength.
Loki entered the arena. His opponent was Riehlvelt, who used two whips with skillful offense and defense, using Nen to propel his wheelchair.
"The match is about to begin! The newcomers lost. The last newcomer, Loki, faces the veteran Riehlvelt!"
The crowd cheered.
"Riehlvelt, teach the newcomer a lesson!"
"Another kid! Are the lower floors filled with trash?!"
"Floor 200 is different! Kid, you're good to reach here, hahaha!"
The cheers were loud. Many had bet on the newcomers and lost. Many disliked the young newcomers.
"The cheers are intense, mostly for Riehlvelt. The audience doesn't favor the newcomer," the announcer said.
"The referee is explaining the rules. The match is about to begin."
"Loki KO'd all his opponents before floor 200."
"The newcomers also KO'd opponents before floor 200, but lost on floor 200."
"Let's see how long Loki lasts against Riehlvelt," the announcer said, not favoring Loki. He looked weak.
"Begin!"
The crowd was noisy. Loki looked at Riehlvelt, who seemed to ignore him, interacting with the audience.
"Watch! I'll easily defeat this kid, hahaha!" Riehlvelt said, wanting to boost his fame. He looked at Loki.
