Chapter 36 - CH 34 EXTRANCE EXAM

The next morning, Prerna intensifies Sun's training regimen, doubling his practice sessions to prepare him for the challenges ahead. As they begin, she shares the rich legacy of her family's sword techniques, emphasizing the significance of precision and control.

"Now that you've completed the basic training," Prerna says, her voice both firm and encouraging, "it's time to deepen your understanding of swordsmanship." With calm focus, she demonstrates various moves, showcasing the fluid motion and strategic footwork that distinguish a novice from a skilled swordsman. As Sun mimics her actions, she offers constructive feedback, correcting his stance and grip.

"Remember," she advises, "every technique is a conversation between you and the sword. It requires both intuition and respect."

Days pass, and with them, Sun's confidence blooms. He begins to master techniques that once felt elusive, his movements becoming increasingly graceful and powerful. Prerna teaches him not only how to wield the sword but also to understand it — to feel its weight, anticipate its path. Through each lesson, he learns that true swordsmanship is as much about mental discipline as it is about physical prowess.

As the entrance exam for Nalanda Academy approaches, Sun's skills in sword fighting noticeably improve, filling Rohan and the others with joy, as it enhances his prospects for gaining admission to the esteemed academy. Prerna takes time to explain the academy's rules regarding the entrance exam, highlighting the stringent policies that govern it.

The entrance exam, which is held just once a year, has strict age requirements: only students aged 16 and above are eligible to apply. Importantly, these regulations are uniformly enforced for all prospective students, regardless of wealth or background. One critical point Prerna emphasizes is the academy's zero-tolerance policy on cheating. Any candidate caught attempting to deceive the examiners faces severe consequences, including a permanent ban from future admissions and all academy-related activities.

With this in mind, Prerna advises Sun to approach the exam with integrity and dedication, ensuring that he adheres to all rules to secure his place at Nalanda Academy. She shares her excitement over the prestigious entrance exam that draws a remarkable crowd of aspiring students eager to claim their spot. The assessment is divided into two parts: the theoretical exam, held in their own city, and the practical component, taking place in the bustling capital city where the academy is located.

The theoretical exam is the first challenge they will face, and it is incredibly important. Successfully passing this stage leads them on a journey to the capital city for the practical exam, an exhilarating experience where they will gather at a larger venue, surrounded by hundreds of other hopeful candidates, all sharing the same ambition. This is more than just an exam; it is an opportunity to connect with fellow students and immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere filled with ambition and determination!

The following morning, Prerna enters Sun's room early, her demeanor encouraging as she says, "You can take your exam without fear." Sun responds curiously, "Aren't you taking it?" With a confident smile, Prerna replies, "What do you think of me? I'm one of the best swordsmen of my generation. The academy's professor invited me to participate, so now it's your turn to prove yourself. I don't need to take the theory exam."

Sun, feeling a sense of pride, jokingly asks, "When did all this happen? I haven't even met that professor." They both share a laugh, and then Prerna continues, "Alright, it's time for you to shine." Sun, accompanied by Rohan and the others, heads to the exam venue.

As he approaches his exam, Sun realizes that the format is quite reminiscent of the tests from his previous world. He completes the exam with ease, feeling confident in his performance. Upon returning home, Prerna eagerly asks about his experience. Sun assures her, "It went well."
