Mirabel slipped into her favorite yellow sundress, the one that always made her feel confident and carefree. As she applied a light layer of perfume, she caught a whiff of the sweet fragrance and smiled, With a final glance in the mirror, Mirabel took a deep breath, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside her. Meanwhile Rose sat at the left-hand corner of the restaurant, looking stunning in a red dress that accentuated her curves. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek, straight style, showcasing her elegant features. As she poked her eyes around the place, her gaze eagerly scanned the room for a glimpse of Vicky. Suddenly, the door swung open, and Vicky walked in, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on Rose. Rose's face lit up, and she waved her hands at him, her bright smile drawing attention from nearby patrons. As Vicky approached the table, Rose's eyes sparkled with excitement but she hid it within her, " Hey Vicky.." she said,
" hey .." Vicky replied, taking his sit opposite Rose. He scanned the whole restaurant, memories of his date with Mirabel flashing across his mind.
" I know what you must be feeling right now..." Rose says, " this was where you Mirabel had a date right ? " she asked,
" Yes, it was the best night of my entire life.." Vicky replied,
" Well if you want to change the location I am fine ..."
" it's alright, besides we are not on a date, I just want to know what's bothering you and more about the threats you've been receiving that's all."
" I know that Vicky,my goal behind coming here was to patch things up with you and you know fix our broken past but it changed when I saw you and Mirabel together, I want the both of you to be happy, nothing more.." says Rose,
Vicky sighs, " Please get to the point Rose, I don't have all day.."
" Right, erm.., do you remember Rufus..."
" Yes, the guy you left me for.., why would I ever forget him Rose, he made me realize a lot of things..."
" Vicky believe me I really regret leaving you like that, it grieved my heart but back then I was too foolish to realize it and Vicky things got out of hand, things got bad..."
" What do you mean.." Vicky asked
" Rufus changed Vicky, he started having troubles with his business and it affected his whole behavior, he became and animal, he tried several times to take advantage of me and he molested me several times, I went through hell.."
" What!!" Vicky exclaims,
Tears streamed down Rose's face as she confessed to Vicky, "One night, he invited me to the hotel under the guise of a meeting with some clients, and he took advantage of me. Then, he took nude pictures of me, and ever since then, he's been threatening me, Vicky. I didn't leave Dillsville only to find you; I left because I wanted to escape from his clutches. But now, Vicky, I'm scared. What if he finds me? I'm terrified, Vicky..."
Vicky's expression softened as he moved closer to Rose, placing his hands on hers. He gently wiped away her tears. "Rose, listen to me. Nothing is going to happen to you as long as I'm here with you. Rufus won't hurt you; he won't harm you in any way. This is the promise I make to you today..."
Just as Vicky was trying to reassure Rose, Mirabel's loud voice echoed through the restaurant. "Vicky!!!"
Vicky and Rose both turned to see Mirabel approaching their table, her face etched with confusion and anger. "Mirabel?" Vicky said, taken aback. "What are you doing here, Vicky? Why are you with her?"
Mirabel's voice grew fiercer as she demanded, "Answer me, Vicky. What on earth are you doing with her?" Rose attempted to explain, but Mirabel cut her off. "Shut up. Not a single word from your filthy mouth."
"Mirabel," Vicky tried to intervene, but Mirabel wouldn't let him finish. "Not today, Vicky. Not today." She shook her index finger at him, then grabbed Rose's arm, drawing attention from other patrons.
"What exactly do you want, Rose? Why are you hell-bent on ruining my life? What's your goal?" Rose tried to explain," Please listen to me, Vicky and I ...",
"Don't you dare say his name," Mirabel interrupted, her voice rising.
Vicky stepped in, releasing Rose from Mirabel's grip. "Mirabel, please calm down. What's wrong with you?" Mirabel's anger boiled over. "I should be asking you that question, Vicky. Vicky tried to apologize, "Believe me, Mirabel, I completely forgot about it. I never knew we were to meet here. I'm so sorry..." But Mirabel wasn't having it. "You didn't know? You didn't see my text? Oh, why would you? You've been so busy spending time with your stinking little mistress over here, Vicky, and yet you accuse me of having trust issues..."
Mirabel's words cut deep, and she stormed out of the restaurant in tears. "Mirabel, please wait..." Vicky called out as he pursued her. However, Mirabel rushed into her car and sped off.
As Vicky watched Mirabel drive away, he slapped himself repeatedly, filled with frustration and regret. "Mirabel!!!!" he called out, but it was too late. Rose tried to intervene, but Vicky pushed her away.
"I'm sorry, Rose. But please don't come near me right now," Vicky said, angrily leaving her presence. Rose watched him go, " I never expected this to happen..." she said, then headed back to the restaurant, picked up her bag, and returned to her hotel.
