Chapter 7 - 7. Questions that hurt

Amia's POV

I sat on a chair in my room, looking at the dark sky through the window.

Night had befallen me again; that meant the lord was on his way.

I was exhausted and very hungry, yet I couldn't even go out and ask for food. Seria also hadn't come back after leaving, and the only thing I could do was assume she was very busy.

I finished cleaning the rooms in a few hours and dusted the place carefully. After taking a bath, I rested for a bit, and when the sun went down, I mentally prepared myself for the lord's return.

When the door opened, I quickly got to my feet.

When I saw it was the lord, I quickly lowered my gaze and bowed low to pay my respects.

A loud growl from my wolf forced me to look up. She wasn't happy with how I was acting towards our own mate.

For the first time, his upper half was covered in a gold robe. The robe covered everything besides his tail that was showing.

When his hands went to the tied loops on his chest, I swallowed hard.

"My lord, I know it's not my place to talk to you while knowing very well what you have come here to do. But then again, this is the only time I can see you," I said as his hands instantly froze.

"In these past nights you have come to me, I have come to understand that you only want an heir from me, and you don't care what we are to each other," I said as I felt a lump form in my throat.

It was painful for me to say this to him because he was the mate who I thought would make my life worth living and enjoyable.

"My kind are blessed with mates by the moon goddess. You know, a life partner meant to love, protect, and stand by your side through life," I said sadly.

"When I first set my eyes on you, I was scared, but then when I discovered you were my mate, I had no idea what to do or how to react," I said honestly.

"As scared as I was, I thought it wasn't that bad because a part of me dared to imagine how you would accept me," I said as tears filled my eyes.

"But being taken roughly for my first time and night was too much to bear. Waking up on a cold floor without even a blanket was the final act that made me realize your true feelings," I said strongly.

"I tell myself silently, everyday how you don't want me, but you want that heir from me badly. That's why you can't stop coming here despite wanting nothing to do with me. So I'll say what's on my mind openly, my lord," I said seriously.

"First of all, I want you to assign a servant to attend to me. You know, like a very hardworking one. There is this one by the name of Serai," I said coldly.

"Secondly, I want that servant to be given the right to bring me food in my bedchamber since I can't eat with you, not that you would allow me to. I also want her to be able to take care of things in my chambers," I said calmly.

"I also want some clothes I could wear, not the old, torn, shabby ones_" I cut my sentence short, contemplating my next words.

"Also, if it's not too much to ask_ when you hold me, can you try to be gentle?" I whispered in a low tone.

When he dropped his hands and turned back to the door, my heart picked up, and I found myself rushing to his side and grabbing his hand before he could grab the door handles.

I gasped loudly when I was shoved hard to the ground.

"Ouch," I whispered, and then I got startled when he raised his fist, hitting one of the doors and breaking it with a loud shattering sound.

I widened my eyes in shock and fear.

When he dropped his hand, I quickly lowered my gaze to the side, trembling.

"What was that sound? ... Oh my goodness, my lord?" A familiar breathless voice called out loudly.

When I looked up, I saw Rachel rushing to his side and grabbing his bruised hand that seemed to be quickly healing. She moved it to her lips, kissing it gently before shifting her eyes to me.

I looked at her with anger, and for the first time, I felt like I could strangle someone just to watch their very breath diminish.

"It was you, wasn't it? What did you do to upset my lord?" she yelled as she strode to where I was, grabbing me by the hair.

My wolf pulled through, and in a second, I grabbed her hand, pulling her onto the cold floor and moving on top of her.

I smirked as I raised my hand, aiming my claws at her throat, but my hand was caught in mid-air. Before I could register why, I was grabbed by the neck, pushed, and pinned to the wall by a cold hand as I struggled to breathe.

I tried to push back against the cold hand as I crawled at it, but it couldn't budge.

My body grew weaker, and my eyes heavy as pain shot to my heart and head.

"My lord, you can't kill her until the prophecy is fulfilled. Please think of the greater good of all your territories," I heard her yell.

With a loud groan, his hand was loosened, and in a second, he let go. I found myself falling to the cold ground, breathing heavily and struggling to hold my composure.

"Thank you, my sun," she whispered as tears filled my eyes.

He moved in front of her and gently caressed her cheek as tears ran down my face. I witnessed him leaning in and resting his forehead against hers, making her smile.

When she looked at me, she grinned.

"Don't mind her, my lord. I already made sure to show that lowly servant her place when she talked to me about this dog. She won't have any contact with anyone in this palace," she said as I furiously got to my feet.

"What did you do to Serai?" I screamed loudly.

My mate was about to move when she raised her hand, stopping him.

"Oh, you will soon find out, and you will like it a lot. That I can guarantee," she answered, then took my mate's hand and went out of the room with him as I fell to my knees, sobbing.
