Chapter 8 - 8. Trap

Amia's POV

Five days had gone by with no food or the lord visiting my chamber.

Was I bothered? A little, but I came to terms with things I couldn't change.

Fighting the lord or her wasn't only going to kill my pride; it would also lead to them killing me. So, I chose to keep to myself and avoid moving around. It was the only wise decision I could make.

When the doors were opened, I stood up and looked at Rachel as she walked in with a plate of food in her hand.

"I never heard any thank-you words from Udo when he fixed your door," she said with a smirk.

After the incident, a male serpent came to my chamber but never entered. He fixed the door with magic in just a few seconds, and all I did was stare at him in silence because I was so exhausted from the crying I had done. But even if I were okay, I would never say those words to her.

I walked to the chair and sat down, looking at her in silence.

"Why don't you speak? Did the shock make you mute?" she mocked as I swallowed a growl that was building up.

"Anyway, I came here because I realize I haven't given you the respect you deserve as my lord's wife. That's why I brought the food here, personally for you," she said as I looked at the plate in her hand.

It was fried rice with meat and some salad on the side. I couldn't detect the scent of poison, but I could tell that the food had some in it because there was no way she was being kind, not after what I had observed.

"Please, I mean it," she said as she moved closer.

"Take the plate; you must be starving," she said as I sighed softly.

"Release Serai," I growled strongly as she raised a brow in surprise.

"Oh, that servant? I will do just that," she answered and then raised the plate to my head.

I was about to move when she let it drop. I raised my hand as a shield, instantly covering my face when the glass hit my skin.

I looked at myself with widened eyes and then at her.

"Finally, you look like the lord's wife," she mocked as she laughed loudly.

"Did you think I would ever apologize or release that thing who forgot who its mistress is?" she asked and then leaned in.

"I will make sure she dies in that dungeon, and you won't get to do a thing," she whispered as she moved her finger, pressing it roughly on my forehead.

"The lord is mine, and so is everything. Are we cle....."

Her sentence was cut short when I grabbed her hand, twisting it with all my strength.

A smile tugged at my lips when she screamed out in pain, falling to her knees. Tears ran down her cheeks as I heard the sound of her bones breaking.

"Now listen here, you little shitty whore. I may tolerate a lot of things, but it's not for my sake, and neither should it be mistaken for my weakness," I spat, ignoring her cries as I twisted it even more.

"I may be an omega, but I know who can step on me and who can't. You, my dear, are far from someone I can easily let trample on me!" I growled furiously as my wolf pulled through.

When she met my eyes and smiled widely through her tears, I realized then and there how this was a trap.

I instantly let go of her hand when both doors shattered like they were mere straws.

When the lord moved in, I understood that this was her aim: to make me hurt her so my mate would completely hurt me, if not kill me.

In a split second, he was in front of me with his hand raised. Before I could react, I felt a sharp pain pierce my chest that made me cough up blood.

I leaned forward, resting my head against my mate's chest, whimpering in pain with tears running down my face.

"My lord," I forced out the words as the pain shot through me intensely.

My knees gave out, making me fall to the ground as my vision began to blur.

I let out a scream when a hand grabbed my hair and pulled me to my feet. My scalp was burning, and I felt like I was dying.

"My lord, please don't kill her. I was at fault for bringing her food. I didn't know she would attack me, claiming that I needed to die for seducing you, her mate," she cried as I weakly looked at her.

I was dropped to the ground in a second.

"My lord, please, I am in so much pain," she sobbed as she got up with wobbly legs.

I blinked a few times and watched my mate move to her side, putting his hand gently on her broken arm.

A dim glow of light emitted from there, and the broken bones fell into place as the red bruises vanished.

When he dropped his hands, he quickly pulled her into his embrace.

"I am fine, my lord, so you don't have to worry," she whispered as she looked at me with a smirk and mouthed the words.

"I win, dumb bitch,"

He swiftly lifted her up in his arms and glanced my way. Although I couldn't see his facial expression because of the cloth that covered him, I could see it in his eyes how he wanted me dead.

When he moved out of the room, the pain in my chest slowly subsided, and my vision was completely restored.

I forced myself to my feet and walked to the bathroom, where I took off my clothes and stepped in. When I turned the shower on and water began to pour on me, the tears I didn't want to shed rolled down, and as much as I tried to stop them, I couldn't.

I went down to my knees, sobbing silently for what felt like forever. When I felt better, I turned off the shower and stepped out, picking up my dirty clothes and throwing them in the bucket.

I slowly made my way to the wardrobe and pulled out a dusty robe, dusting it off and putting it on.

When a knock came through, I froze in fear, and my heart picked up as I looked at the doors that were back to their fixed state yet again.

The scent of whoever was at the door was not like that of the serpent beings I had come across. But then he or she was obviously the one who had fixed the door when I was in the shower.

I hesitantly moved and opened it. A female serpent was standing there with a glass globe in one of her hands.

"My lord has asked me to show you this," she said as I frowned, not understanding what she meant because the globe was a see-through sphere of glass with nothing in it.

When she brushed her free hand on top of it and fog appeared inside, my father's image emerged. He had his bloody hand gripped around my sister's neck, who was badly bleeding from the nose with a bruised red eye.

"Cassidy," I whispered powerlessly, with a pained heart.

"You little stupid bitch, what did you do to the lord to get him this angry?" he growled as I quickly raised my hand in a pleading gesture.

"Alpha, please let her go. She is hurt, and her wolf is weak; she can't heal easily. Please," I pleaded as tears filled my eyes.

When his claws slightly pierced her skin, I fell to my knees, sobbing.

"I will be good, I promise. I won't ever do it again. I beg you, father, please," I pleaded.

"I can kill her and care less if you kill yourself later on because I would have already gained something from your marriage," he warned and then dropped her to the ground as a sigh of relief escaped me.

"This is your last and final warning, little pup. Don't make me regret giving you another chance," he said as the image vanished from the globe.

The serpent lady gave a low bow and moved away as I continued to sob bitterly.
