Chapter 11 - Weird Necklace

There may be riots, screams, and people running around in confusion on the city streets, but none of this seems to affect the peaceful life in Ian's classroom.

"In the summer of 1942, Hitler launched Operation Blue with the intention of seizing the Caucasus oil fields and cutting off the Soviet Union's oil supply." The history teacher's voice was like background white noise, lulling people to sleep.

Many students suffering from insomnia have gotten rid of the disease in this class, but for Ian, even if he listens carefully, he cannot gain experience points for the [Student] profession for the knowledge he has already learned.

He is thinking.

I wonder whether my Superman dad has really succeeded in rescuing the passengers in the plane crash. If that was true, why was there the noise of a plane exploding and fireworks outside?

Ian was quietly daydreaming.

Madison next to him was scribbling on her textbook with colored markers. She turned President Washington's clothes into a skirt and added two cat ears on his head.

"How is it?" Madison pushed the textbook over proudly.

"Isn't it much better than before?"

Her talk did not get a response from Ian. The blonde girl was not surprised by this and started to harm Nixon, the most controversial person in American history next.

Neither of them listened carefully, but the teacher didn't care.

After all, you don't need to worry about the top students, and you don't need to worry about the poor students... of course, you don't need to worry about the poor students either. Public school teachers only get paid a certain amount a month, so why would they worry so much about the students' courses?

The class passed quickly.

[You have carefully carried out logical reasoning. Although there is no result, it still consumes a lot of brain cells. [Student] Career Experience Points +1]

Although Ian didn't understand why his Superfather let the plane crash, he did gain something. The system's performance was still so abstract.

'I've been really worried about the Metropolis, and yet it only gives me such a small amount of experience points? This is not a cheat at all.' Of course, Ian's level of abstraction is not much inferior.

Around noon.

The cafeteria was as noisy as a market, but Ian's seat was strangely quiet. A few girls pretended to pass by and secretly glanced at him, while the boys looked at his plate with either jealousy or helplessness.

For the same price, Ian's meal was almost twice as large as others.

"Damn it." Sitting opposite Ian's long table, Sam Winchester, a tall and thin boy from the class next door, held a plate and stared at Ian's pile of fried chicken nuggets.

"How did you do that?"

He frowned, as if he was puzzled.

"It's very simple. Just smile at the aunties and say good afternoon. They will feel your kindness and return their kindness to you."

Ian has always been a person who is good at sharing and doesn't like to keep things to himself. However, his heartfelt experience and summary brought a stiff smile to Sam Winchester.

"My brother said something similar, but is there a way that doesn't rely too much on personal performance?" Sam Winchester asked awkwardly. In fact, he was also a handsome guy, but he didn't seem to be very confident in his face.

"There is."

Ian nodded.

His response brought an expectant look to Sam Winchester's face.

"As long as you pay more, you can get more dishes."

Ian set his tableware and spoke sincerely. However, Sam Winchester's expression was still not sunny. The boy took his meal to another table, mumbling something like "damn world".

"What a strange guy."

Ian shook his head, lowered his head, and started to show off. He was now like a starving ghost, so he had to concentrate on eating.

The afternoon classes were also very simple, at least for Ian. He used time management methods to learn other knowledge and still gained some experience points in the [Student] profession.

When the school bell rang, the students rushed to the classroom door like wild animals out of a cage, while Ian's deskmate Madison was slowly packing her schoolbag.

"Oh, yes."

She seemed to have found something and took out a small gift box from her schoolbag. "This is a gift I brought you from Los Angeles. Remember to give me a separate set of answers for the exam next month."

The girl handed the gift to Ian.

"That's not the answer to the exam. It's just that the scope of my circled questions is more accurate." Ian corrected the other party's unethical wording while taking the gift box from the other party.

"Same thing."

Madison shrugged nonchalantly.

She watched Ian open the gift box and saw an ancient pendant inside. It was a cross pendant, but it was completely black and made of some kind of bone, and it felt cold to the touch.

The entire pendant chain is also thin and tough, with a faint dark silver luster.

"Even though it's a cheap item, I always feel that it's very special and might be worth a lot of money." Madison was trying to raise the value of the gift, but who knows if she also wanted to get a bargain?

Human beings, everyone is like that.

"The texture is quite good." Ian originally just wanted to put it in his pocket, but under the expectant look of his desk mate, he still reluctantly put it around his neck.

Just the right size.

Just when Ian was wondering if Madison had secretly measured him and knew how long his neck was, his expression suddenly froze in disbelief.

"What the hell?"

Ian was very surprised.

Just to see.

A new symbol quietly appeared above the anger bar below his sight - [Slow Corrosion]. This negative state would deduct a point from his health every minute. Of course, since he had no mana bar or health bar, Ian could only roughly think that this was the pendant secretly sucking his blood.

He was a little surprised at first.

Immediately, a surge of joy rose in his heart. This might be a terrible curse for others, but for a berserker like him, it might be a very suitable "beginner's artifact".

"Great gift," Ian praised sincerely.

"Of course it's great. Don't you consider whose aesthetic this is? This immediately dilutes your nerdy vibe." Madison was still boasting about herself.

However, she found that Ian's eyes were somewhat deep, and he stared at her for a long time.

"What's wrong?"

Madison asked with a frown.

"Nothing." Ian saw the other party's confused expression and impatient tone, and realized that the other party might not know that the pendant was unusual.

"Little girl, you really have some weird luck." Ian sighed, waved to Madison, turned and left the classroom under the increasingly confused gaze of the blonde girl.

"Oh, yes, thank you."

He turned back, gave her a tight hug, and then left the classroom again.

"…"

Madison, who has always been outgoing, was somewhat overwhelmed by Ian. She was completely confused by Ian's actions. It took her a long time to come to her senses.

"If one day someone told me that this guy was an alien living on Earth, I don't think I would feel strange." The blonde girl sighed sincerely.

She straightened her clothes, then she left the classroom carrying her modified fashion bag. The empty classroom was very quiet, and after a moment, there was a sudden distortion in the air.

Just there, a strange pupil "squeezed" out from the space.

"Where is my sacrifice? Where is such a high-quality sacrifice?" The twisted, scarlet pupils turned rapidly, and it made a confused and slightly exasperated voice.
