KELLY'S POV
"Excuse me Miss! We need you to go outside!" I turned to look at the person who had just brought me back to the present. I didn't know if I should thank him for bringing me away from my experience on the day of Mari's accident, or if I should be mad at him for asking me to go outside. He did not look like the doctor that has been attending to Mari.
"I'm sorry, but why do I have to go outside?" I asked. I found him suspicious cause he was dressed as a doctor, but he's not her doctor. Even the nurse standing next to him looked nothing like the two nurses that usually came to attend to Mari, and they never once asked me to step outside.
"If you don't move, we'll have to call the security on you," he threatened. That threat was it for me. I immediately hit the emergency button within a blink. He could go ahead and call fire squad, but I was not going to move an inch away from Mari. I held onto her bed as if my life depended on it.
"You might be wearing the doctor tag, but as far as I know, you are not her doctor," I said.
"I won't let you touch her until I see Doctor Klein," my words were as firm as my grip on Mari's hospital bed. The doctor turned to the nurse and asked her for something. She gave him a syringe, he pushed it and walked towards Mari. I jerked forward wanting to stop him, next thing I knew, he was trying to attack me with the syringe in his hand.
Sometimes I thank my stars and Asantewaa for learning judo. I immediately grabbed his finger and twisted it, then I flung him to the ground. "Call the security!" he ordered the nurse who rushed to the telephone in Mari's ward and then dialled a line. I could careless about the security being called. But as long as I was concerned, nobody was getting to Mari. But aside from calling security, the nurse had other ideas. She grabbed a bottle and a syringe, then she dragged the injection in it and made her way to Mari. At impulse, I left the doctor who I had pinned to the ground and charged at her. The doctor used that opportunity to grab my leg, then he dragged me making me to lose my footing, I fell to the ground with only my palms to protect my face. I kicked and kicked for the doctor to leave me as the nurse injected what she was holding into the drip connected to Mari. I used my other leg to kick the doctor, then I flung it towards my face in a swift motion grabbing my mini heels and swung it at the nurse. Just then, Someone walked in, It was George.
"Disconnect the drip!" I shouted. It was at that point I knew how panicky I was. My voice was shaky when I told him to disconnect the drip. He rushed to do so without asking any questions. Then he rushed to my aid hitting the doctor repeatedly on his head. He looked brutal as he did. I was akeefree but could not even help myself up, I just stared at him. He looked like he was going to kill. Just then, the security team rushed in and pulled him away from the doctor. He looked ferocious and charming. He got my heart at that moment.
Seeing that he has been overpowered by the security team, I stood up and tried to explain what actually happened, but the doctor beat me to it. "Take the both of them out," he said. He was audacious and I hated it. I wanted to shut his mouth so bad.
"No, please. They are trying to harm my friend!" I said.
"I was only doing my job by coming here to administer the injection to this patient, why will I harm her?" he asked. He looked deceitful and I hated him. In that moment I thought of landing his mouth with a kick, but the computer started going crazy. It was a sign that Mari was in danger. Instead of the said doctor to check on her, he asked the security to push us out. That got me mad, I landed him with a flying kick.
"Nobody dares take me away from her!" I growled. I took a defensive stance right next to Mari while hoping that doctor Klein would come soon. In that moment the securities that were holding George left him and tried to come for me. George grabbed a taser from one of the security and tased him till he hit the floor unconscious while I attacked the second and George got him tased. The doctor flee out of the room.
"Mari!" I cried seeing how her body was jerking. I didn't know what to do, if I should administer CPR or not. George rushed out of the ward but immediately got back inside with Mari's doctor. It seems like he was already on his way.
He attended to Mari as though it was his last chance at life. I noticed the nurses rushing in with a lot of stuffs. The doctor picked the defibrillator and used it to resuscitate Mari. It could several attempts before monitor became stable. With the way the monitor almost showed us a straight line, I thought I already lost Mari. Relief swept through my face and into my heart seeing that she had been stabilise. The doctor gave her an injection and then apologised to us. It was at the point when he spoke that I realised that the other doctor had actually come to kill Mari. I became frightened and started thinking of changing hospitals. But George said they should just move Mari to another room while we wait for his cousin.
"You called him?" I asked, my face covered with a look of disappointment mixed with fear. As though he knew what was going through my mind, he asked me to calm down and told me his cousin definitely had nothing to do with what happened. Mari was moved to another VIP ward, one at the top floor, while George stayed back with me comforting me after the doctor had fixed a new drip to Mari and left.
"I'm scared!" I muttered. He hugged me without saying a word. I used to think he was some distant nonchalant freak as a professor, but he's actually a cute human. His cousin walked in while we stayed in that hugged up position. But we would not have noticed if not for the lady with him that called George's name. I bowed my head unwilling to look at them. I felt quite embarrassed, but not George. He went straight to his cousin's side and hugged the lady. Then he said something to his cousin, something only the both of them could hear. But whatever it was, it got his cousin enraged.
"Ray!" George called after his cousin, but he did not even look back. He stormed out of the ward. I made me wonder what exactly was going on. Could it be that he had no hand regarding what had happened earlier, or he was mad because it failed? Whatever it must be, I was going to find out somehow.
