With Captain America's intervention, the fight naturally didn't happen.
However, this brawl at the "Rainbow Club" didn't cause much of an uproar in the outside world, but it did cause quite a stir within the U.S. military.
It's often said that the discipline in the U.S. military is poor, but that is mostly in relation to external matters.
Internally, it is actually very strict.
Whether it was Colonel Kennedy deliberately provoking a patriot like Josh, who contributed to the military in the rear, or Aldo hitting a superior officer, both were extremely serious breaches of military conduct with a major negative impact.
Especially since it happened just before the Normandy landings, an incredibly sensitive time.
Not to mention the fact that it involved a conflict between the Navy and the Army.
But precisely because the matter involved the two branches of the military, there were major disagreements within the Navy and Army on how to deal with Kennedy and Aldo.
In the end, the issue even reached General Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the European Allied Forces.
It was fortunate this was in the European theater, where Eisenhower's word was law. If it had been in the Pacific theater, with the rivalry between two giant military figures, Nimitz and MacArthur, the situation would have been much harder to resolve.
Two days later, after two internal military court hearings, the results were decided.
Kennedy was demoted by two ranks but remained in service.
Aldo, on the other hand, was demoted to a non-commissioned officer.
On the surface, this seemed fair: Kennedy had a higher rank, so his two-rank demotion seemed more significant.
But many, including Josh, knew that Aldo was actually the one who suffered more because, with Kennedy's status as a Navy officer and the power of the Kennedy family, it would be easy for him to rise back through the ranks.
However for Aldo, rising back up was almost impossible…the gap between soldiers and officers couldn't be bridged with a few merits.
However, Aldo's superior was very supportive.
After multiple requests, Aldo was assigned a mission. If he completed it, all his disciplinary actions would be erased.
But there was no doubt that the mission was extremely dangerous... some Jewish-American high-ranking officials in Washington wanted the lives of certain German SS officers.
The reason for this was obvious.
The Jewish people had a deep sense of revenge, and after the war, the Mossad hunted down German officers scattered across the world for decades.
Many of the names on this list of officers were in Paris.
Therefore, Aldo, as the leader of a small unit composed of soldiers who had committed military offenses, was sent to Paris to carry out this difficult task.
"Don't say too much, just complete the mission, and I'll throw you a grand celebration in Paris!" Josh said to Aldo, fully geared up and about to board the plane at an Army aviation base.
"I definitely won't miss that. There better be good drinks!" Aldo said with a smile, giving Josh a punch.
Josh smiled slightly and reached out his hand.
Aldo, somewhat confused, wondered why they were shaking hands now, given how familiar they had become. Was this necessary?
But he still shook Josh's hand, and as he did, he felt something cold and cylindrical pressed into his palm.
"Use it in a critical moment, just inject it directly!" Just as Aldo was puzzled, Josh gave him a bear hug, whispered in his ear, and then stepped back, waving him off.
Though Aldo had many questions, he understood and tucked the object into his sleeve, making sure it wasn't visible.
Once the plane was airborne and the turbulence settled, Aldo took out the item Josh had given him.
His face changed slightly when he saw it.
It was a very high-end metal syringe, and on the edge of the metal part, there was some glass, revealing a shimmering green liquid inside.
What was this? Aldo was even more confused.
But since Josh had told him to use it only in an emergency, he guessed it was something life-saving.
As for whether Josh would harm him, Aldo never even thought about it.
To him, Josh was a true friend, and he had already risked his career to fight a Colonel for him, so Aldo naturally believed that Josh regarded him as a friend too.
His intuition was correct—Josh had indeed given him something that would save his life.
This was a serum that Yuri had spent over a month extracting from the blood of the defective super-soldier Vito. Combining it with the "Beastification" potion from the Red Alert world and dinosaur genes, they had created a new type of super-soldier serum.
This serum could temporarily transform a human into a "Dinosaur Warrior."
The effect was similar to the Lizard Doctor from Spider-Man, dramatically increasing strength, allowing one to shrug off small-caliber gunfire, and granting extremely strong healing abilities.
Speed, reflexes, and other physical traits would also be greatly enhanced.
However, unlike the Super Soldier Serum, this enhancement wasn't permanent. It would last for about 4 to 6 hours.
During the transformation, the user's sanity would be affected...but it would return to normal once the effect wore off.
Since extensive human experiments had already been conducted on the "foot-basin chicken," it was confirmed that there were no immediate side effects, though the long-term effects were still unknown.
That was why Josh had told Aldo to use it only in emergencies.
Initially, Josh had only befriended Aldo out of his own interests, like he did with other lower-ranking officers. But after the club incident, Josh had genuinely recognized Aldo as a true friend because Aldo wasn't afraid to act.
Such friends were hard to find, and it would be a shame if Aldo died on the battlefield.
Besides, this issue wasn't over yet.
Looking at the plane disappearing into the sky, Josh thought quietly to himself.
Though the outcome of this conflict was that both Kennedy and Aldo had been disciplined, and Josh, as the "victim," seemed unaffected, this was just a surface appearance.
Joseph Kennedy's sudden demotion by two ranks, although he would have a chance to rise again, would undoubtedly have a significant impact on his future career.
The Kennedy family behind him wouldn't care who started the trouble.
They would only care about the loss of their interests.
So it was clear—Josh had now made an enemy of the Kennedy family.
Furthermore, even if the Kennedy family was willing to let the issue slide, it depended on whether Josh would allow it.
Josh hadn't intended to make a fuss about Angela's issue—she was just a parasitic woman, not worth the trouble but Kennedy's almost direct slap-in-the-face provocation at the club had truly pissed him off.
Even though he knew that by doing nothing, Joseph Kennedy would probably not live for many more months...
Just as Josh was collecting himself and preparing to leave, he saw Captain America with his large group of subordinates—the famous Howling Commandos—also preparing to board a plane.
Josh couldn't help but feel puzzled.
The next day was D-Day, and Captain America and the Howling Commandos were about to head somewhere?
Could it be that they, like Aldo, were heading behind enemy lines?
