Valerio paused. He looked up at her.
"Sweetie, you know I can't do that. For now, you have to stay this way. Maybe in the future, if you please me enough, I might decide to untie your hands. For now, I don't trust you."
Her throat worked in a quick swallow.
So all she had to do was get him to trust her? Would she have a chance of escaping if she could do that?
Her chest pounded at the thought alone.
She had yet to figure out just where they were though. In what city were they?
Walking her out of the room into the dining room, Valerio pulled the chair out for her, helping her sit down. He took the seat nearest to her as Lucas proceeded to fill the table with dishes and the pasta she wanted.
"What do you think?" he asked. "Do you love what you see?"
Evelyn glanced at the delicacies on the table. She loved food, but looking at these, she didn't have a single appetite.
"Go on, eat," he said to her.
