Chapter 6 - From Ashes to Cradle

As Rex's eyes slowly closed, his heartbeat slowed with them.

In his heart, he whispered one last thought:

"Finally… I'm free from this hell."

His breathing stopped.

For most people, this would be the end.

But not for him.

A soft, gentle voice echoed:

"I've always loved happy endings. Sad endings… hmm… I never really liked them. Happy endings gave me hope—that maybe, in the end, everything would turn out better for me."

And this… this is my happy ending. I'm leaving the pain behind. Going somewhere better.

Darkness.

Silence.

Then… light.

His eyes slowly opened again.

Blurred figures stood in front of him—two people, speaking in a language he didn't understand. Their faces were unfamiliar, their voices strange.

Rex blinked, confused. Then angry.

"What… the hell…?" he said in his mind.

"Why am I alive?"

He looked down at his hands—and froze.

They were small.

Tiny fingers. A child's hands.

His heart raced.

The people in front of him kept speaking in that unknown language.

Then the thought hit him like lightning:

"I've been… reincarnated?"

Tears filled his eyes. His voice cracked.

"No… no, please… I want to die again. I was finally free…"

"Hic… hic… I want to dieeee!"

His cries echoed through the room—high-pitched, like a baby.

Hearing the crying, two young women rushed in, panic on their faces.

"He's crying again!" one shouted.

"He must be hungry! Or scared!" said the other.

They ran to him, smiling brightly, gently picking him up.

Rex, still in shock, could only stare.

From a hero to a villain. From death… to a baby?

What the hell happens now?

The two young women tending to Rex appeared to be around eighteen or nineteen. But what truly caught his attention wasn't their age—it was their clothing.

Their dresses were simple, but elegant—clean white aprons over neatly pressed black gowns, with lace cuffs and gold-trimmed collars. Their hair was tied up neatly, and both wore a small silver badge shaped like a crest.

Just from their uniforms, it was clear:

They were royal maids.

And not just any maids—these were servants of a very high noble family. The kind that only served in castles or great manors.

Rex stared silently, more confused than ever.

Where… am I?

That's when the door opened—and the noblewoman entered—and with her, Rex felt fate take a new shape.
