Chapter 3 - No Longer Calling Them

Jiang Zhe was one of Feng Ting Shen's personal secretaries.

When he saw her resignation letter, he was greatly surprised.

He was one of the few people in the company who knew about the relationship between Rong Ci and Feng Ting Shen.

Those familiar with Feng Ting Shen knew that his heart was no longer with Rong Ci.

After their marriage, he had been indifferent toward her and rarely returned home.

In order to get close to and win over Feng Ting Shen, Rong Ci chose to join the Feng family group.

Her initial goal was to become Feng Ting Shen's personal secretary.

But Feng Ting Shen disagreed.

Not even the grandfather could persuade him to agree.

In the end, Rong Ci had to settle for staying in the secretarial department and became just one of many ordinary secretaries working for Feng Ting Shen.

At first, Jiang Zhe had been worried that Rong Ci, once in the secretarial department, might cause chaos.

However, the outcome was beyond his expectations.

Although Rong Ci used her position to get close to Feng Ting Shen, she always chose her moments wisely and never overstepped her boundaries.

On the contrary, perhaps in an attempt to earn Feng Ting Shen's respect, Rong Ci worked very diligently and her skills were impressive. Whether she was pregnant or dealing with other challenges, she strictly followed company policies and never asked for special treatment.

Years passed, and Rong Ci eventually became the head of the secretarial department.

Jiang Zhe had always observed Rong Ci's feelings for Feng Ting Shen, and honestly, he had never imagined that she would resign.

He couldn't believe that Rong Ci would voluntarily choose to leave.

The only plausible reason for her resignation, in his view, was that something had happened between her and Feng Ting Shen that he wasn't aware of—perhaps even a situation where Feng Ting Shen had forced her to resign.

Rong Ci's work ability was quite strong, and although it was a pity, Jiang Zhe still handled things professionally and said, "I've received your resignation letter. I will arrange for someone to take over your duties as soon as possible."

"Okay."

Rong Ci nodded and turned to return to her desk.

After being busy for a while, Jiang Zhe reported to Feng Ting Shen online.

When they were almost done talking, Jiang Zhe suddenly remembered Rong Ci's resignation: "By the way, Mr. Feng, regarding—"

Although he had told Rong Ci that he would arrange for someone to replace her as soon as possible, he still wanted to check with Feng Ting Shen about when to let Rong Ci leave.

If Feng Ting Shen wanted Rong Ci to stop coming to the office tomorrow, he would make arrangements immediately.

But as the words were about to leave his mouth, he recalled that when Rong Ci had first joined the company, Feng Ting Shen had said that all matters regarding Rong Ci at the company should be handled according to the company's procedures and didn't need to be reported to him.

He wouldn't intervene.

And indeed, that was the case.

Over the years, Feng Ting Shen had never taken the initiative to ask about Rong Ci's affairs at the company.

When he saw Rong Ci at the company, he acted as though she were a complete stranger.

Rong Ci had performed exceptionally well in her work. A few years ago, when they were considering promoting her, due to Feng Ting Shen's apparent dislike of her, they had specially raised the matter in front of him.

The implication was that if he didn't like it, the matter could be dropped.

At that time, Feng Ting Shen had frowned and impatiently reiterated that he wouldn't interfere and that they should handle it according to the procedures.

He also told them not to ask him again about anything related to Rong Ci at the company.

Seeing that Jiang Zhe was hesitating to speak, Feng Ting Shen frowned and asked, "What is it?"

Jiang Zhe quickly snapped back to attention and said, "Nothing."

Since Feng Ting Shen already knew about Rong Ci's resignation but hadn't brought it up himself, it was clear that this matter didn't hold any significance for him.

On his side, he would continue to handle things according to company procedures as usual.

With that thought in mind, Jiang Zhe didn't say anything further.

Feng Ting Shen hung up the video call.

...

"What are you thinking about?"

At noon, a colleague suddenly patted Rong Ci on the shoulder.

Rong Ci snapped out of her thoughts and smiled as she shook her head, "Nothing."

"Aren't you going to call your daughter today?"

"Mm, not today."

She usually called her daughter twice a day.Once at 1 AM and again around 12 PM.This was something her colleagues in the office all knew.

What they didn't know was that her daughter's father was the big boss of their company.

After work that evening, Rong Ci went to the market, bought some vegetables and a few pots of green plants, and headed home.

After dinner, Rong Ci went online to check the news about the tech exhibition. After reading it, she made a call: "Please reserve a ticket for me for next month's tech exhibition."

"Are you sure?" The voice on the other end responded coldly. "You said you wanted a ticket last time too, but you didn't show up. So many people were dying to get a ticket, and you just wasted it."

The annual tech exhibition in the country was a major event for the tech industry, and the tickets weren't something everyone could get.Their company had secured a few spots for the exhibition, and many of their elite employees were eager to attend. For them, every ticket was extremely valuable.

"If I don't show up this time, I won't ask you for a ticket again in the future."

The person on the other end didn't say anything and hung up the phone.

Rong Ci knew that this was a sign of agreement.

She smiled to herself.

What she didn't say was that she wanted to return to the company.

As a company partner, she had chosen to get married and have children when the company was just starting, stepping away from the business to focus on her family. This disrupted the company's development plans and caused them to miss many opportunities.

People were both angry and frustrated with her.

In recent years, they hadn't really been in contact.

She did want to return to the company, but after marriage, her focus had always been on her family.

She had been away from the industry for too long.

She was worried that if she returned to the company now without any preparation, she wouldn't be able to keep up with their pace.

So, she planned to spend some time understanding the current state of the industry before making any concrete plans.

For the next few days, Rong Ci focused on her work during office hours and spent her free time taking care of her own matters.

She did not take the initiative to contact her daughter or Feng Ting Shen.

Of course, they didn't contact her either.

She wasn't surprised by this.

Because, as early as six months ago, reaching out to them had become a one-sided arrangement on her part. They had only passively accepted it.

...

In Country A,

Feng Jingxin had developed a habit of calling Lin Wu every morning after waking up.

That day, she did the same and called Lin Wu first thing after waking up.

But before she had been talking to Lin Wu for long, she suddenly burst into tears.

This was because Lin Wu had given her some bad news.

"Aunt Wuwu is going back to the country!"

Feng Jingxin was heartbroken. After talking to Lin Wu, she immediately called Feng Ting Shen. "Dad, did you know about this?"

At the office, Feng Ting Shen was flipping through some documents. "Yes."

"When did you find out?"

"It's been a while."

"You... Dad, you're so bad..." Feng Jingxin hugged her little pink pig plush toy and cried nonstop. "Why didn't you tell me? I don't want Aunt Wuwu to leave. If Aunt Wuwu isn't here, I don't want to go to school here anymore. I want to go back to the country, woo~"

Feng Ting Shen's tone was calm. "It's already being handled."

Feng Jingxin didn't understand. "What... What does that mean?"

"We'll go back to the country next week."
