Chapter 4 - 004 First Day Of School (4)

"You must be Alex," Regina's voice cut through the group's chatter, causing Alex and the rest to turn around to her. "And you must be Regina!" Alex replied, his eyes glinting. The two eyed each other, each holding a smile that didn't meet their eyes when Regina said, "You know the whole school are talking about you."

"Really now?" Alex asked, his smirk widening, his gaze glancing over the plastics, and sure enough, everyone in the cafeteria was watching, like a circus. Meanwhile, Janis, sitting beside him, glared at Regina, hissing at her like a feral cat shielding its kittens, "What do you want, Regina?!"

But Regina didn't lose her composure, turning to Janis, her smile widening, a sharp glint passing through her eyes, "Hello, Janis," she greeted, which irritated the girl.

Just then, "You should not sit with them!" Karen Smith said, standing beside Regina, "Yeah, you should sit with us!" Gretchen backed it up, her face a mix of worry and proud empathy, as if she was doing a great favor.

But Alex didn't budge; he raised an eyebrow, his smile thinning a little, "Is that so?"

"Yeah, it's social suicide!" Gretchen added, nodding her head vigorously, which angered Janis to no end. "Fuck off, Gretchen!" she cursed at the plastic; she then turned to Alex. "Alex, you shouldn't—"

"It's okay, Janis," Alex cut her off, giving her a warm smile as he turned to her before turning back to Regina, who was now talking to Cady, "You must be the other new student," she said, giving her the same smile she had given to Alex.

Cady was a little flustered by the sudden attention, "Y-Yeah, I'm Cady," she introduced, an awkward smile on her lips. Regina watched Cady for a moment, her eyes glinting as her mind whirred, "Could you give us a moment, Cady?"

"S-Sure," Cady responded, not really sure about what was happening. Regina turned back to her friends, whispering something in Karen's and Gretchen's ears, with the latter nodding their heads eagerly, "Yeah, sure!" Regina then turned to Cady, her smile a little wider, "You know we don't do this often, so it's like a really huge deal, but you and Alex should totally come and sit with us for lunch!"

Cady was… surprised to say the least. She immediately turned to the group; Alex was smiling at her, his expression saying, "I'm enjoying this," while Janis was glaring at her, her expression screaming, "Don't you dare!"

'I shouldn't, right?' she wondered inwardly before turning to Regina, "I-I…" but the Queen Bee interrupted, "Coolness!" she exclaimed, turning around while Gretchen looked at Cady and informed, "Wear pink tomorrow; if not, then you cannot sit with us!" With that, the trio left, leaving Cady flabbergasted and Janis seething in anger, "Those bitches…!" she muttered through her teeth, while Alex was smiling in amusement, intrigued.

"That was… interesting," Alex said, looking at Cady, who was still reeling from the interaction when Janis said, "Interesting?! Alex, they are sluts who play with the feelings of others! You can't call them interesting! And what? Are you really going to sit with them?!"

"Hahaha, don't worry, Janis. I can see people for who they are," Alex said, giving her a reassured smile; he then turned around, looking at the plastics sitting in the middle of the cafeteria, chatting with each other. "It's just, I don't really back out of a fight," he added.

"Ugh!" Janis grunted at his answer, and Cady's eyes flickered, a wave of butterflies flooding her stomach while Damien exclaimed, "Can we eat now?! I'm hungry!"

…..

The rest of the day went by; Janis and Damien went back to their classes while Alex and I went back to ours. He had the same classes as me, with me sitting behind him in every class. He was perfect! Even in math!

But I wasn't able to concentrate on classes, or Alex. With my mind going back to Regina's offer. Should I sit with her? What about Alex, was he going to sit with them? But what about Janis? She didn't like the plastics at all, warning us that they are evil, but they don't seem to be bad…

Should I ask Alex?

....

TRING TRING

The school bell rang, causing the students in the class to groan out in relief, which caused Ms.Nosburne to wince a little, "Alright, that's ... hurtful, but let's talk about your homework, that's exciting, right?" she asked, her eyes glancing over the room with a self-deprecating bright smile while Cady, sitting in the back, patted Alex's shoulder, causing him to turn around, "Hey, I wanted to ask, are you going to sit with Regina tomorrow?"

Alex's lips curled at her question, "Why? Do you want to sit with them?" he asked, his eyes judging. "No, I-I…" Cady was surprised, not really sure how to answer his question.

"Haha, don't worry, I'm just teasing you," Alex laughed, causing Cady to sigh in relief, "I'm not sure yet," he said, squinting his eyes a little, "Tell you what, why don't you give me your number, and I'll text you tonight?"

Oh my God! He's asking my number!

"Y-Yeah, sure!" Cady replied, her face turning bright with excitement. She then gave him her number, leaving the school with a big smile on her face.

…..

Meanwhile, Alex walked back home, a mere twenty-minute walk from school.

"Mom, I'm home!" he yelled, opening the door and entering the house. He then left his bag on the couch, his eyes looking around, "Mom?" he yelled once more.

"I'm in the kitchen!" A voice returned his call, making him sigh a little in relief, "I'll be in my room!" He yelled once more, waiting for a reply, ".....Okay!" With that, Alex left for his room. Walking upstairs and taking a right.

Entering his room, he immediately jumped onto his bed, his face to the ceiling, "Fuck! Did I really just flirt with Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams?!"
