Chapter 8 - FTRJ: Chapter 8

He looked back, "No...no way!!"

Dozens of towering pillars of fire erupted from the ground. Everything within sight had vanished – mountains and trees, all obscured by the flames.

Even though they had run far, the intense heat wave still reached them, burning many people's skin.

The flames engulfed the two Kidokens, which vanished without a sound.

Finn deactivated Ryūjin Jakka's Shikai.

He felt his magical power depleted. "I need to be careful using Shikai. My magical power is almost gone. I still need more power."

He sheathed Ryūjin Jakka and watched the flames die down, as there was nothing left to burn. The molten rock, however, showed no signs of cooling.

He put the sword back at his waist. "Mission complete. Let's wrap it up."

The morning sun shone down as Finn and the others walked back to the guild. The sunlight reflected off Gray's head.

Finn stifled a laugh, patting Gray's shoulder. "Gray, you lost your hair, but it'll grow back. Honestly, you look pretty handsome without hair."

Gildarts agreed. "Yeah, you look pretty cool." He touched his own flowing orange hair and muttered, "It's a good thing my magical power is strong, or my hair wouldn't have survived."

Gray looked at them with a heartbroken expression, unable to speak.

They reached Fairy Tail's entrance. Finn saw Gray hesitating and urged, "Come on, Gray, what are you doing?"

Gray hesitated. A large hand pushed him forward. "What are you afraid of? You're still young; your hair will grow back quickly."

Gildarts pushed Gray into the guild.

Finn pushed open the door and shouted, "I'm back!!"

"Yo, Finn's back! How was the mission?" Macao laughed.

"Welcome back!" Cana greeted him.

"It was a perfect success! Hi, Cana."

"Haha, amazing young man," Wakaba exclaimed.

Finn greeted everyone and went to Makarov. "Master, the mission is complete."

Makarov put down his drink. "Good job. I received a message from the client. The damage you caused was significant."

"Luckily, it was a deserted area, so there's no compensation."

Finn's mood went up and down. He thought he'd be in trouble.

Suddenly, laughter erupted. Finn turned and saw Gildarts and Gray enter. Gray's bald head caused everyone to burst into laughter.

"Damn it, stop laughing!" Gray's face turned red, and he roared in anger.

The laughter grew louder.

"I can't take it anymore!" Gray punched Wakaba, who was laughing the loudest.

Wakaba flew through the air, knocking over several tables. Others joined in, tackling Wakaba to the ground.

A large brawl erupted in Fairy Tail.

Gildarts carefully made his way to Makarov and Finn.

"Ah, I need a strong drink. I'm exhausted," Gildarts ordered a drink.

The barmaid politely asked, "Finn, what would you like to drink?"

Finn found the name strange but didn't correct her. "I'll have a glass of milk."

Gildarts laughed loudly. "Finn, you're such a strong mage, and you like milk?"

"Men should drink strong liquor, right, Master?" Gildarts clinked glasses with Makarov.

Makarov shook his head. "Finn is only twelve. Don't teach him bad habits."

Finn nodded at Gildarts. "Mind your own business. Drinking milk makes you taller. You don't know anything." He thought about his childhood malnutrition, which affected his height despite his handsome face.

Now he had a chance to change. He vowed to reach 185cm.

The milk arrived. Finn thanked the barmaid and looked at the milk, ready to drink it.

Gray's scream echoed. He flew past Finn, crashing into a wall, spilling the milk.

Finn's anger flared.

Gray, unaware of what happened, got up and wanted revenge on Macao.

"Gray~~~" A chilling voice reached Gray's ears. His hair stood on end. He saw Finn's dark face, feeling uneasy, and ran.

He didn't know why he was running, but Finn was furious. Run!

"Stop right there!!" Finn's roar echoed through Fairy Tail, and Gray, like a cannonball, broke through the guild's roof and soared into the sky.

He spun and screamed, his cries echoing through Magnolia.

"All of you, stop!!" Finn's chilling voice silenced the brawlers.

They quickly straightened their chairs, sitting properly. The last person who didn't was now somewhere else.

Finn, exuding an aura of dominance, looked at the barmaid. "More milk?"

The barmaid was charmed. "Yes, please wait."

Time passed, and Finn had been in Fairy Tail for several months. Makarov fully recognized his strength.

Makarov said Finn could take the S-class mage exam, but he lacked experience and needed more time.

Gildarts had gone on a ten-year mission two months ago, mocking Finn before leaving, "Don't wait for me to come back. You haven't become an S-class mage yet, haha!"

This spurred Finn, who had become lazy after a few missions. He'd been constantly on missions.

Gray had also improved significantly and could handle simple missions.

Looking back, these months felt like a dream. He'd transmigrated to a strange world and joined Fairy Tail, a family of boisterous fighters!!

Finn smiled as he watched the sunset by the sea.

His last mission was nearby, so he hadn't rushed back. The sunset was beautiful, so he decided to camp, even buying a tent.

He looked at the fire, where two strange-looking fish were roasting, making his mouth water. Since eating the flying fish,

he'd discovered many animals in this world were delicious. He always wanted to try new creatures.

Would he get poisoned? He'd tested it – his strong body was immune to poisons. This solidified his reputation as a monster, as he ate anything.

The fish were almost cooked. He leaned against a rock, but then saw a dilapidated boat being tossed by the waves, about to capsize.

He jumped into the sea towards the boat, seeing a person on board – a girl with crimson hair.

The girl was unconscious. Finn jumped into the sea to rescue the boat.

"Huh? I'm still alive?" Erza slowly opened one eye, recalling the terrible storm at sea. The storm had raged, and lightning had struck.

She'd struggled to steer the boat, but the battles had exhausted her small body. She had no strength left to fight the storm.

Her vision blurred. "Maybe I'll die here?" But she wasn't afraid. Death might be a relief.

She fell unconscious. She woke to a sunset-colored sky. The sea was calm, seagulls flying overhead.

"You're awake?" A gentle voice. Erza sat up and saw a boy bathed in the sunset's glow, smiling at her.

Finn saw the girl awake and pointed to a roasted fish. "Hungry? Want to eat?"

As Finn approached, Erza instinctively recoiled. Her coat fell, revealing a thin slave uniform.

A chill ran down her spine.

Finn stopped. "Don't worry, I saved you. I don't mean you any harm." He looked at the frightened girl.

Her covered eye and scars showed she'd been through something terrible – kidnapping or enslavement.

He patiently explained he wouldn't hurt her.

"I'm Finn. What's your name?" Finn sat down and stirred the embers.

After a while, she replied, "I'm Erza…Erza Scarlet." She continued, "I didn't know you saved me, so…"

Finn laughed. "It's okay, don't worry about it."

Erza relaxed. "Thank you!"

"Eat something. You're weak and need energy," Finn offered her the remaining fish.

She shook her head. "What about you?"

"Haha, I already ate. You eat."

Erza's stomach rumbled.

She took the fish. "Thank you, Finn."

"Eat!" Finn looked at the setting sun.

He knew Erza was like a frightened rabbit. He needed to give her time to adjust.

The next morning, Finn extinguished the fire, stretching his stiff limbs. He'd planned to camp here.

Then Erza arrived. He gave her the tent and sat by the fire all night. He stayed because he worried about her safety.
